Abstract: A speech signal-in-noise enhancement system which separates the voiced-unvoiced portions of speech, detects and extracts the voiced fundamental pitch and uses that data to control the band-pass center frequencies of a bank of filters so that the filters pass the harmonics of the fundamental pitch. The output of these filters is summed to form a composite signal representative of voiced speech. Unvoiced speech is separately passed to the summer.
Abstract: This invention relates to a deployable antenna or reflector having an offset paraboloid shape. The antenna can be packaged in a small volume. Radial ribs, interconnected by stiffeners, extend from a semicircular support hub. A metalized mesh is stretched between the radial ribs to form a reflective surface.
Abstract: A digitally tuned active filter is disclosed. The filter is tunable by digitally controlling the variable conductance which comprises two resistors, one of which is in series with a field-effect transistor switch and those two in parallel with the other resistor. The field-effect transistor switch is switched by a digitally controlled variable duty cycle generator.
Abstract: An expandable metal membrane of the type used to contain cryogenic liquids is disclosed. The membrane utilizes two sets of triangular shaped corrugations at right angles to each other. The corrugations are arranged so that the membrane expands only along one axis at each intersection of the corrugations and the expansion of the membrane along two axes simultaneously is assisted by the rotation of the panel enclosed by each two sets of corrugations.
Abstract: A system for maintaining a two-legged hydrophone array in a horizontal plane is disclosed. This system uses a pair of directional maneuverable drogue chutes for providing tension on the hydrophone arrays and for maintaining the desired angle between the two legs.
Abstract: An improved carrier for semiconductor chips is described. The carrier includes a base, a substrate including electrical conductors and a rectangular aperture for receiving the semiconductor chip mounted on the base. A transparent cover is installed over the chip and is retained there by a resilient metallic clip.
Abstract: This invention is directed to a machine for unloading micro-electronic beam lead devices from a carrier. The machine removes the resilient clip, base and circuit board from the cover and the chip so that the beam lead chip is exposed and can be picked up and bonded onto a hybrid circuit substrate.
Abstract: A closed loop controlled amplifier operable on low power is disclosed. The amplifier utilizes a relatively slow, high voltage transistor that is saturated during the active sweep and cut off during the retrace. A dampening network is included which operates during the active horizontal deflection time. A current feedback is derived from the horizontal deflection yoke to stabilize and control the amplifier.
Abstract: This invention relates to a steerable articulation coupler for effecting rapid connection of the two sections of a ground vehicle. The coupler also provides for rapid automatic connection of the power transmission shaft. The coupler consists of a socket member and an insertion member. The insertion member includes a forward semi-spherical support surface, a rearward large diameter support surface, a guide receptacle and a set of alignment members. Counterparts on the socket member cooperate with the insertion member to align the two members.
