Patent number: 4021160Abstract: An engine, pump or motor is disclosed of a type generally similar to the "Wankel" engine, except that the present invention is characterized by purely orbital motion of the piston to produce rotation of the output shaft. Preferably the shaft has two eccentric sections in radial alignment, the first eccentric axis being displaced from the main axis, one half the displacement of the second eccentric axis from the main axis. A pinion is rotatably mounted about the first eccentric axis. A fixed internal ring gear is fixed against rotation and mounted about the main axis so as to engage the pinion at a point in radial alignment with the two eccentric axes. An orbital ring gear is preferably identical to the fixed ring gear and rotatably mounted about the second eccentric axis so as to engage the pinion at a point on the pinion diametrically opposite the point of engagement of the pinion and the fixed ring gear. The piston is also rotatably mounted about the second eccentric axis and fixed to the orbital ring gear.Type: GrantFiled: December 15, 1975Date of Patent: May 3, 1977Inventor: Vukasin Todorovic

Patent number: 4018231Abstract: A tracheal tube adapted for insertion into the trachea of a patient for introducing or removing gas. The tube includes a main inflatable cuff which surrounds the distal end of the tube. A gas passageway communicates at one end with the interior of the cuff, and the other end of the passageway is adapted to receive an inflating means, for delivering gas to inflate the cuff. The gas passageway includes a check valve, and a generally oval pilot balloon is in gas communication with the cuff via the passageway. The pilot balloon is longitudinally pre-stretched between its opposite end portions by means maintaining the pre-stretched condition. Accordingly the balloon in its non-inflated condition is characterized by a series of mutually spaced folds, extending longitudinally between the opposed ends. The ridges of the folds contrast with the troughs between folds, to provide a series of spaced, visually discernible markings which visually signal the non-inflated condition of the main cuff.Type: GrantFiled: June 2, 1975Date of Patent: April 19, 1977Assignee: Airco, Inc.Inventor: Dean R. Patent number: 4006268Abstract: An improved method is disclosed for coating substrates, such as turbine engine parts, at high rates by a physical vapor deposition process. The substrate to be coated and a vapor source, such as a metal alloy, heated by an electron beam, are placed in a chamber in which a gas pressure of greater than about 5 mT is maintained. When the source material is evaporated at a very high rate, such as greater than about 0.1 g/s or 13 g/s.m.sup. 2, the vapor is collimated and the collimation increases as the gas pressure or the evaporation rate increases. Collimation of the vapor allows a much higher deposition rate for a given evaporation power. Further, a much higher fraction of the evaporated material is deposited on the substrate. Despite the collimation, evaporated material deposits on areas of the substrate which are not in line-of-sight of the vapor source. If desired a substrate bias can be applied to bombard the substrate with ions before and during coating.Type: GrantFiled: March 17, 1975Date of Patent: February 1, 1977Assignee: Airco, Inc.Inventors: Kurt D. Patent number: 4005603Abstract: Apparatus for providing density compensation to measured volumes of fluid flow wherein means for sensing the fluid parameter having a dominant effect on the density thereof are adapted to produce an output signal which varies as a function of the magnitude of the sensed parameter. This output signal is supplied to a voltage-frequency converter which produces output pulses continually at a frequency corresponding to the magnitude of the output signal. The converter is gated to a coincidence gate for a period of predetermined duration upon detection of each unit change of volumetric fluid flow with the number of pulses accepted by the gate during such period reflecting the value of the dominant parameter and, hence density of the fluid. A frequency divider is configured to divide the gate output by a predetermined factor with each output pulse or count issued by the frequency divider representing a density corrected unit change of volumetric fluid flow.Type: GrantFiled: September 3, 1975Date of Patent: February 1, 1977Assignee: Airco, Inc.Inventors: Yehuda Golahny, Douglas A.
