  • Patent number: 5625851
Abstract: A composite guide rail for bellows type cameras is disclosed in which the composite rail is comprised of two rail pieces. A multi-fingered connecting insert has a base secured to the end of the first rail while the fingers conform to an inner cavity in one end of the second rail and can be slidably inserted-therein. A wedge having a threaded central bore is movably disposed between the plurality of fingers and is connected to a thumb screw by a threaded connecting rod, the thumb screw located at the opposite end of the first rail from the connecting insert. When the fingers are inserted into the cavity of the second rail and the thumbscrew turned in one direction, the fingers are expanded by the wedge being drawn therebetween such that the fingers come into pressing engagement with the walls defining the inner cavity of the second rail. When assembled, the first and second rails take on the aspect of a single rail.

  • Patent number: 5551178
Abstract: A collapsible sign includes a flexible banner supported by a collapsible stand. The collapsible stand, of A-frame configuration, includes two pairs of legs at each end of a cross-member, the apex of each leg pair and cross-member end retained in a unique one-piece connector. Each connector has two leg cups and a cross-member cup attached to a base block by a living hinge. A latch and saddle releasably secure the cross-member cup to the base block in the erected position. A cammed key and keyway releasably lock the leg cups to one another in the erected position. There is a slight interference fit between the cups which assists securing them in the erected position. In breaking down the sign, each leg pivots toward its paired partner upon release of the key from the keyway and the cross-member likewise pivots toward the legs upon release of the latch resulting in all legs and the cross-member being generally parallel to one another in the collapsed position.

  • Patent number: 5404742
Abstract: A method and device for hemming metal sheet involving upsetting the sheet metal to form a skirt at an angle to the parent sheet and for hemming the skirt to the parent sheet or another sheet interposed therebetween. Both skirt forming and hemming utilize rotary bending tools to convert perpendicular motion into rotational bending force. The novel device of the present invention is a rotary hemming tool having a cylindrical rocker characterized by a flat extending along its length with two lobes defining the intersection between the flat and the cylindrical surface of the rocker. The flat and the lobes are the surfaces of the rocker which act against the upset metal skirt and against the anvil on which the metal sheet is placed. The rocker and saddle are configured to limit rocker rotation such that skirt bending commences simultaneously with rocker contact rather than interaction between the rocker and the anvil.

  • Patent number: 5259521
Abstract: This invention relates to a portable Tack Rack having sturdy framework construction and to a collapsible equestrian Tack Rack which may be readily assembled and disassembled. The Tack Rack includes two (2) rigid rectangular frames connected such that the frames fold one against the other and unfold such that at least one of the frames sit upright from a support surface. A plurality of extendable members lockably connect to the upright frame such that when extended the members are generally parallel to the support surface, and at least one of the members is adapted to adequately support a saddle placed thereon.
