  • Patent number: 7479192
Abstract: An engine and high pressure pump are mounted onto a wheeled chassis. High pressure water is distributed to a rotating wand and nozzle assembly on the wheeled chassis so that as the chassis is moved along a linear path, high pressure water is sprayed onto an underlying surface to clean the surface. Optional diffusion plates may be used to prevent high pressure water from being sprayed directly onto the underlying surface in part of the rotational path defined by the wand and nozzle assembly.

  • Patent number: 7456356
Abstract: A grounding clip is a shelf-grounding device includes a resilient conductive clip that installs onto a fully assembled shelving unit, providing a plurality of electrical connections between the shelf and post to reduce the risks from electrostatic discharge, or ESD. The clip can be installed and removed without the use of tools and is held securely in place when attached. Since the clip is attached after the shelving unit is assembled, less skill is required by the installer during the installation or reconfiguration process. The clip is reusable and provides electrical connectivity between the shelf and post regardless of whether the shelving unit was assembled with conductive or plastic split sleeves.

  • Patent number: 7385696
Abstract: Provided are methods for determining the birefringence level of optical material such as polymeric film. In one embodiment, the method uses a setup of optical components that has known system reference angle. The sample may be a stretched polymeric film that has a fast axis angle that has a predetermined orientation in the sample. The system is operated to align the direction of the fast axis of the sample with the reference angle of the system and to measure the birefringence level at a location of the sample. As one aspect of the invention, embodiments and methods are described for accurately determining birefringence levels across a very wide range and up to tens of thousands of nanometers.

  • Patent number: 7347080
Abstract: A thermal conductivity detector (TCD) utilizes a modular thermistor assembly that mounts to the TCD body. The thermistor assembly is easily replaceable in the TCD. Within the TCD, a thermistor bead is always held in the same relative location in a gas flow path, which is designed to produce laminar, low velocity gas flow across the thermistor bead. Two TCDs, each having a heater, are mounted in an insulated enclosure. The heaters are activated to bring the TCDs to operating temperature, and are then deactivated during analysis.

  • Patent number: 7331977
Abstract: An adaptive tourniquet cuff system comprises: a tourniquet cuff having a physical characteristic and including an inflatable bladder of a length greater than the circumference of a limb at a selected location; a cuff connector carried on the cuff and communicating pneumatically with the bladder for releasably connecting to a tourniquet instrument to establish a gas-tight passageway between the bladder and the tourniquet instrument; and an identifying collar including identification means indicative of the physical characteristic and detectable by the tourniquet instrument upon establishment of the gas-tight passageway. The tourniquet instrument may supply gas to the bladder through the gas-tight passageway at a pressure sufficient to stop arterial blood flow into the limb distal to the cuff at the selected location, and may adapt its operation in response to the detected physical characteristic of the cuff.

  • Patent number: 7305769
Abstract: An out-the-front automatic knife incorporates dual locking and release mechanisms that define a three-point blade-handle interconnection between the blade and the handle when the blade is locked in the open position. A single trigger is operable to automatically open the knife, and to automatically close the knife. Separate firing and retraction springs may be provided with different spring strength to vary the speed and strength of the blade moving to the open position, and to the closed position. Blade guide systems cause the blade to travel longitudinally and linearly. The handle substantially encloses the blade and incorporates an access port to facilitate cleaning and maintenance of components housed in the handle interior.
