Abstract: In a method of detecting and eliminating foreign bodies in tobacco, a flow of tobacco advances first through a preparation zone where it is gathered into a continuous ribbon of tobacco filler, then through a forming station at which the filler is used to fashion a continuous cigarette rod, and finally through a cutter device that divides the rod into cigarette sticks; the advancing flow is directed at a given point through a detection device and exposed to electromagnetic radiation of microwave frequency emitted and received in such a way as to generate output signals reflecting any variations in moisture content along the flow of tobacco, caused by the inclusion of foreign bodies and associated with given portions of the flow each coinciding with a singly identifiable cigarette stick.

Abstract: In a machine tool with a spindle capable of motion along at least three axes x, y, and z, the position of the spindle is checked by a device that operates utilizing electromagnetic signals sent out by four emitters, located externally of the machine tool, and picked up by a receiver mounted directly to the spindle. The signals are fed into a master control unit and processed by circuits in such a way as to produce an output that can be used to verify and if necessary correct the position of the spindle on the three axes X, Y, and Z.
Abstract: For material reduction, a fan blade made of solid material for a gas-turbine engine is provided in the area of the blade tip with at least one cavity (5) extending from the face of the blade tip. Thus, apart from the aspect of weight saving, the vibration amplitudes and the centrifugal forces can be reduced considerably and the natural vibration behavior improved in a simple manner, ultimately increasing mechanical strength.

Abstract: A disk brake caliper mounting bracket is attachable to an axle tube to mount a brake caliper to the axle tube with a desired positioning and alignment. The bracket includes an axle tube mounting portion and a brake caliper mounting portion. The axle tube mounting portion includes a circular flange for mounting between the axle tube and a wheel mount to accurately position the bracket with respect to the axle tube. The brake caliper mounting portion is positioned at an angle to correspond with a camber of the wheel mount such that when the brake caliper is mounted to the brake caliper mounting portion, the brake caliper is accurately positioned and aligned with a disk brake rotor. The axle tube mounting portion and the brake caliper mounting portion can be integral with one another or separate components attached together.
Abstract: The invention relates to a sports brace comprising an elastic woven or knitted fabric, which for a sport of the kind that is performed using the arm or hand can be secured to the applicable arm or wrist (2) of the person using it by means of a closure (4). In order to provide that the sports brace (3) has better relief of the player's hitting hand or arm, compared to known braces, the invention proposes providing a plurality of weights (15), distributed over the surface, which act counter to the force of the ball hitting the racket used. Installed alongside at least one of the slide ways and containing a supply of tools attachable to the machining head is a magazine equipped with a first changer element positioned to coincide with the first zone of the station, and a second changer element positioned to coincide with the second zone, so that whichever of the two zones the machining head happens to occupy at any given moment, the tool currently in use can be replaced with a tool from the magazine by the relative changer element with minimal loss of time.

The tubular element is easily replaced in the event of a size changeover.
Abstract: An athlete training device includes a first sensor pad for signaling when a first object has been removed from the first pad and a second sensor pad for signaling when an athlete's hand has been removed from the second pad. A third sensor signals when the athlete has made contact with a second object. A control device receives the signals from the pads and third sensor and determines a first elapsed time from when the first object is removed from the first pad and the athlete's hand is removed from the second pad. The control device also determines a second elapsed time from when the athlete's hand is removed from the second pad and the athlete makes contact with the second object and then outputs a signal for displaying the first and second elapsed times.
