  • Patent number: 5620185
Abstract: A disk game that can be easily carried to different locations and played both on land and in water is disclosed. The game uses a mat of closed cell foam having fastening elements thereon to provide for the quick set up of the targets, also having fastening elements thereon, in the proper position. The game is sold in a container that is element proof and also useable for carrying the game from one place to another, i.e., the container is not destroyed when the product is taken out of the container. Also disclosed is a flying article for use with the disk game. The flying article is modified so that it has both floating ability and improved aerial stability.

  • Patent number: 5613341
Abstract: An "off the shelf" modular staircase system is described that allows for a flexible fit of the staircase into custom plan areas and/or areas in which the ceiling-to-floor height varies. The modules form a complete staircase and not a mere skeleton of a staircase. Furthermore, the modular staircase system, because it allows for the mass production and conventional transportation of the various stair modules, results in the reduced cost of a staircase and reduced construction time. Individual stair modules may be formed as a unitary structure out of a moldable material.

  • Patent number: 5590454
Abstract: A method of forming a three-dimensional object (38) is provided using a combination of molding and machining. In its most basic form, the method of the present invention is achieved by depositing a first layer of mold material (40) onto a support surface (20), machining a first cavity (42) into the first layer of mold material, depositing a first layer of construction material (52) onto the first layer of mold material such that an overlapping portion (52a) of the first layer of construction material fills the first cavity to form a first three-dimensional section of the object and such that a superposing portion (52b) of the layer of construction material covers the first layer of mold material, and machining the superposing portion (52b) to form a second three-dimensional section of the object. A larger object may be produced by repeating such steps in like sequence to form additional three-dimensional sections.

  • Patent number: 5588235
Abstract: Light processing apparatus creates a number of visual effects which simulate movement with light from a light source. A multiplicity of flexible fibre optic light guides having optically finished input and output ends are grouped into groups, with each group being assigned to create a particular effect. The input ends of each group of light guides are placed in adjacent receptor zones of pre-selected geometry, and the output ends of each group of light guides are located on an effects surface in a pre-selected pattern. Light from the light source is filtered by a color changer having a plurality of discrete moveable colored filter zones shaped to correlate with the receptor zones, and is then received by the input ends of the light guides and distributed to the output ends of the light guides. The color changer may be a rotatable color wheel filter, an endless band filter or a cylindrical filter.

  • Patent number: 5579893
Abstract: A transfer device for products, in particular aluminum cans, conveyed by a first transport system, which are transferred from the first transport system in groups in the form of a row aligned in the first transporting direction to a second transport system, wherein the placement of the products on the second transport system takes place in such a way that the row extends transversely in respect to its transporting direction. The transfer device includes a pickup mechanism holding the respective group of products during the transfer movement, the pickup mechanism being guided along a movement track by at least one drive linkage, wherein the drive linkage has a first arm which is pivotably connected at one end to a first shaft on the pickup mechanism and by its other end is pivotably connected to a second shaft on a rotating drive crank, and with a second arm, which is pivotably connected to a third shaft on the first arm and is pivotably connected to a fourth shaft, which is a fixed shaft.

  • Patent number: 5573148
Abstract: An apparatus and method for caulking a large surface area with a large caulking apparatus is provided. A caulking tank is mounted on a frame which is connected to a source of air and to a nozzle assembly. The caulking tank includes a lid, an air inlet, a pressure release vent and an outlet. A valve is operatively connected between the caulking tank and the air source, which is a compressor and an air tank, for opening and closing the air pathway. The caulking material is dispensed by opening the valve and allowing air to enter the caulking tank and force the caulking material through the opposite end of the tank where it communicates through a hose to a nozzle assembly. The nozzle is pivotally mounted to the frame and it contains an adjustment rod for adjusting the angle of the nozzle.

  • Patent number: 5551382
Abstract: This invention relates to a reciprocating internal combustion engine having a cylinder crankcase with a cylinder head with is designed to reduce the manufacturing and spare parts cost. A single design unified cylinder head is employed for liquid cooling and air cooling, the cylinder head having both cooling spaces for the liquid coolant and cooling fins for the cooling air. Coolant passageways in the cylinder head are connected to coolant spaces in the cylinder block portion of the cylinder crankcase by way of openings in the upper end of the cylinder block and openings in the cylinder head gasket which permit flow of coolant to the annuli in the cylinder head. In addition to the annuli, the coolant passageways in the cylinder head include a longitudinally extending header, horizontally extending web ducts extending radially inward from the annuli and vertically extending connecting conduits inclined relative to the cylinder axes interconnecting the web ducts and the header.
