Abstract: A tracer wad for a cartridge comprises a shot holder consisting of four quadrants defining between them a tubular member, a tracer element holder and a conical recess leading to a bore for directing ignited propellant onto a tracer element held in the holder to ensure reliable ignition of the tracer element on firing of the cartridge. A flexible skirt portion ensures a good gas seal between the wad and the barrel of a firearm when the cartridge is fired. When the wad leaves the barrel, the quadrants are peeled back and the tracer element leaves the holder to follow the trajectory of the shot.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for conditioning a blink reaction of a person using a computer terminal display. Blinking is selectively triggered by a macro shift in the dominant object viewed by the person or a macro tactile event simultaneously with a shift in a non-dominant object viewed by the person or a micro tactile event. The macro shift may be in the form of foreground/background reversal, display color changes, blank screen, etc. caused by hardware switching device or programed ANSI escape sequence changes. The non-dominant object may be a cursor, the last character typed, etc. The macro or micro tactile event may be a vibration, sound, puff of air, etc. The person is conditioned to blink in response to the non-dominant visual cue or micro tactile event by the association between the non-dominant or micro event and the dominant or macro event which causes involuntary blinking.

Abstract: Described are magnetizing devices for permanent magnet rings that are bipolar on the end faces or multipolar on the lateral faces and have concentric North/South areas either on one of the two end faces or on their lateral faces. Magnetizing is performed by way of current pulses that are induced in annular current conductors arranged on the end faces or on the lateral faces of the permanent magnet rings.

Abstract: A coffee roaster which roasts coffee beans in an oven chamber employing both radiant and convection heating techniques while the beans are continually intermixed in a fluidized bed rotating in the horizontal plane. Roaster control means are provided to terminate the roasting process by quenching the beans and oven chamber while maintaining the beans in a fluidized bed to avoid scorching or further roasting by the residual heat of the coffee bean mass. The oven chamber includes an upper transparent section through which the roasting charge of beans may be viewed and thereby allow manual control of the process in response to visual observation.

Abstract: A uniformly expandable mold is formed with a continuous surface defining a three-dimensional pattern for replicating an article. The relative pressure between the inside of the mold and the outside controls the area of the surface to change the size of the three-dimensional pattern without distorting the relative dimensional relationship of the component segments forming the pattern whereby material may be deposited on the mold surface with the mold expanded to a desired size. The pressure differential is increased to increase the size of the mold and stretch the layer already deposited thereon. A second, dissimilar layer is bonded to the first layer while it is streched When the article is removed from the mold, a state of relative expansive/compressive tension is created at the bond interface between the first and second layers which forces the material of one layer to enter voids in the other layer to seal defects.

Abstract: A nozzle arrangement for a high pressure jet for use in a device for treating surfaces by removing material from, roughening or cleaning such surfaces comprises a nozzle having an elongate body which is rotatable about its longitudinal axis. A nozzle head inclined at an angle of approximately 30.degree. to the longitudinal axis of the nozzle body communicates with the interior of the nozzle body and a high pressure pump is provided for generating a high pressure liquid jet to issue from the nozzle head. The nozzle head is maintained at a substantially constant distance from a planar surface to be treated and the nozzle body is reciprocated in partial rotations about its longitudinal axis in opposite directions to cause the high pressure jet issuing from the nozzle head to strike the surface to be treated with a recurring arc-shaped pivoting movement.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for protecting a camera or other apparatus from a water environment with a flexible, pressure compensated bag-like housing which is maintained at a slight positive pressure. The housing is larger than its contents to permit the contents to be moved relative to at least one wall to activate controls by frictional engagement between the wall and control during the relative movement. The housing may be configured as a merchandising container for the contents.

Abstract: A interactive value-added telecommunications system including automatic billing at a value-added rate controllable in real time is realized through in-place network carrier system utilities including multiparty switching which verify a calling party by a telephone number, and optionally a PIN number, and provides for calling party authorization of billing at a rate established by the called party. The system enables a method for conducting a business wherein a party calls for a service or product, is identified via one or two separate code sequences, requests a service or product from the called provider who establishes a rate for compliance. The caller authorizes and initiates the established charge to an account associated with one of said code sequences which preferably is a telephone number associated with a credit or debit account by completing a third-party call to a designated value-added number.

Abstract: A security object system including a pillowcase with an opening across the back for inserting or removing a pillow and a stylized mother and father rendered on the front of the case. Removable pouches are attached at either end of the pillowcase and are dimensioned to receive one each of two dolls. The dolls are stylized to represent a son and daughter bearing family resemblances to the stylized mother and father depicted on the face of the pillowcase. Each doll incorporates a suction cup on its back so that it may be fastened to a smooth surface. The clothing for the dolls is removable.

Abstract: Disclosed is a TV and VTR compound set in which a holder for supporting TV's printed circuit board in a space between the inside surface of the cabinet and TV's Braun tube vertically and TV's flyback transformer laterally is newly introduced, by which holder TV's flyback transformer and VTR's picture recording and reproducing head come to be placed apart from each other at the farthest distance possible in the cabinet and the transformer's noise comes to be prevented from interfering with the head and by which not only is TV's transformer's noise prevent from entering VTR's head as mentioned above but also the dimension of the cabinet can be made smaller than that of the conventional cabinet similarly housing TV and VTR and the production cost of the set can be reduced.

Abstract: An apparatus for magnetizing a permanent magnet which includes a frame including first and second relatively movable members arranged to form a core frame which supports first and second conic co-axial poles enclosed by the movable frame members for creating a magnetic flux circuit with an adjustable air gap for enclosing a product to be magnetized. The apparatus is energized by coils wound about the poles and enclosing the air gap. The poles include a bore co-axially aligned with the co-axial axis of the poles and a press ram dimensioned to move within the bore.

The bottom contiguous block joining structure includes a recess dimensioned to receive a joining structure dimensioned identically to the top contiguous block joining structure.

Abstract: A shipping, storage and racking method and apparatus for packages designed to be hung on pegs on display racks includes a storage/transfer member dimensioned to pass through the openings by which the packages are hung. An opening is provided along the longitudinal axis of the storage/transfer member to permit the member to be slid over a display rack peg so that packages on the peg can be supported by the member and removed as a single unit by holding them on the member as it is slid off the peg. A reverse procedure is used to deposit packages carried on a storage/transfer member onto a peg. Packages are stored and transported by supporting a storage/transfer member loaded with packages within a container by special means which position and secure the member so that the packages are hung within the container without resting on the container bottom.

Abstract: A molded container block for fluidic material is fabricated with opposing sides comprised of a plurality of offset parallel planes interconnected to form interfitting geometric surfaces to allow interlocking and nesting of a plurality of container blocks by the geometric shapes of their exterior surfaces. A port allows filling and removal of materials from the container block. It is recessed into a corner of the container block so it will not interfere with the nesting function or detract from the container block structural strength. The shape of the container block is designed to provide nesting of any exterior surface of the container block with a mating exterior surface of a similar container block and to provide rigidity calculated to enable the container block to be used as a structural building unit.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for pressure compensating an under water housing which includes a tubular structure sealed around a hole in the housing dimensioned so that the mouth of an inflated balloon will form a secure seal there on so that the housing may be pressure compensated by blowing up the balloon and sealing the balloon mouth around the tube.
