Abstract: A sleep monitoring apparatus adapted to be mounted on a human head of a patient having a front face and first and second sides with the front face having a mouth, a nose with nostrils therein and first and second eyes and first and second ears on the first and second sides comprising a movable headpiece adapted to be mounted on the head and engages the head above the eyes. An acoustical device is provided which is adapted to be positioned on the face in the vicinity of the nose and/or mouth of the patient and having at least one acoustic duct from receiving respiratory airflow from the patient. A sensor which is exposed to the acoustic duct is provided for sensing turbulence and/or pressure changes in the respiratory airflow in the acoustic duct and providing an electrical output. Electrical circuitry is carried by the headpiece for receiving the electrical output and for processing the electrical output to provide a real-time signal from the headpiece which is indicative of the breathing of the patient.

Abstract: In a radial gap dynamoelectric machine a composite stator ferromagnet having reduced losses is formed using fanfolded thin section metallic glass or electrical steel strips edge wound to form a ring-like magnetic structure surrounding separate stator tooth assemblies formed of traditional or thin-section sheet or powdered ferromagnetic materials. Alternative structures are described.
Abstract: A clutch or rolling door operating mechanism permits use of two sources of power for moving the door between open and closed positions. A drive gear rotates about an eccentrically mounted shaft which itself is turned through a clutch of the fixed drag type to swing the gear into engagement with the drive train for moving the door via manual power and to permit the gear to swing into disengagment with such drive train for moving the door by electric power operation. In one form a circuit interlock prevents motor operation during manual driving of the door; in a second form an audible "clacker" sounds to indicate manual operation of the operating mechanism.
Abstract: Film cartridge for use in viewing motion picture film having means forming a framework with an index plate with an aperture therein. A continuous length of film having perforations along one edge thereof is carried by the framework. Guide means is provided on the framework for guiding the film over the index plate and past the aperture. Means is provided for advancing the film frame by frame past the aperture. A spool is rotatably mounted on the framework. The spool has a central hub and a film supporting surface extending radially from the hub so that the hub extends away from the surface in a direction generally perpendicular to the surface. The spool has an annular rim spaced from the hub and extending away from the surface and in the same direction as the hub.

Abstract: Nuclear imaging apparatus for obtaining multi-plane readouts of radioactive material in a human or animal subject. A probe disposed in the vicinity of the subject is provided for receiving radiation from radiating sources in the subject and for forming a probe radiation image. The probe has a collimator with different portions thereof having holes disposed at different angles. A single scintillation crystal overlies the collimator for receiving radiation passing through the collimator and producing scintillations to provide the probe image. An array of photomultiplier tubes overlie the single crystal for observing the probe image and providing electrical outputs. Conversion apparatus is provided for converting the electrical outputs representing the probe image into optical images displayed on the screen of a cathode ray tube.

Abstract: Lighting fixture having a housing with an open side. A lamp is mounted in the housing that is capable of producing light rays which pass through the open side of the housing. A protective covering of glass is carried by the housing and encloses the open side. The protective covering of glass is provided with a surface which has a high angle anti-reflection coating disposed on the surface.
