  • Patent number: 6270007
Abstract: A stackable crate for transporting potted plants and the like includes opposing trays spaced apart by support structures. The trays form a top and bottom for the stackable crate. Each of the trays have side walls and end walls. The side walls are orthogonal to the end walls to thereby define four corners for the opposing trays. Each of the support structures has a plurality of upstanding panels which define interior and exterior walls for the stackable crate. Two of the upstanding panels are parallel and joined at their ends by one other upstanding panel of the plurality of upstanding panels so to form corners for the support structures. At least one of the corners so formed is an exterior corner for the stackable crate. The support structures are configured relative to the opposing trays such that each of the exterior corners are in substantial abutting alignment with each of the corners of the opposing trays to thereby form substantially closed ends and partially open sides for the stackable crate.

  • Patent number: 5395623
Abstract: A bakery ingredient including a milled, starch-bearing grain having about 60-80% of its starch enzymatically eliminated by conversion to a soluble form and about 4 to 30% by weight of a caramel-sugar mixture is disclosed along with a process for preparation of the bakery ingredient. The preferred sugar mixture includes at least 70% maltose and less than 5% glucose. The preferred enzyme is an alpha-amylase. Baked goods prepared from the bakery ingredient demonstrate superior crumb strength and are suprisingly resistant to degradation by excessive or insufficient moisture and are characterized by extended shelf-life capability.

  • Patent number: 5347744
Abstract: A fishing lure comprising a dense body portion having a bore therethrough; a recess formed in the body portion, the recess communicating with the bore, the recess sized to accommodate and receive the eyelet of a hook, said recess having non-resilient walls and a mouth; and a resilient obstruction adjacent the mouth of the recess, the resilient obstruction inhibiting passage of the eyelet of the hook until a force is exerted upon the eyelet to cause the resilient obstruction to yield and allow passage of the eyelet.

  • Patent number: 5312844
Abstract: A method of producing injection molded in-line skate wheels is disclosed. The method includes heating an injection molding unit suitable for injecting molten polyurethane, placing a thermoplastic polyether type polyurethane into the unit and heating the polyurethane until it is molten or at about 380.degree. to about 460.degree. F. A polyurethane hub is placed in a mold whereby the mold and hub are of shapes and sizes suitable for producing in-line skate wheels. The hub-containing mold is heated to about 50.degree. to about 100.degree. F. in order to prevent the molten polyurethane from prematurely hardening. Once the mold is heated, about 46 to about 50 g of polyurethane is injected into the mold at about 75 to about 100 psi. The polyurethane is cooled to about 120.degree. to about 130.degree. F. to allow the polyurethane to harden and the resulting wheel is removed from the mold.

  • Patent number: 5310250
Abstract: An in-line skate wheel is disclosed including a radially symmetrical body where the body is defined by the following: An axial bore surface, a first convex arcuate perimeter surface subsuming less than a 180 degree angle and having a first edge and a second edge wherein the first arcuate perimeter surface is radially disposed concentric to the axial bore. At least one first convex transitional arcuate surface having greater radii than the first arcuate perimeter surface and tangentially connecting to the perimeter surface at the first edge and radially disposed to the axial bore. At least one second convex transitional arcuate surface having greater radii than the first arcuate perimeter surface tangentially connecting to the perimeter surface at the second edge and radially symmetrically disposed relative to the axial bore.

  • Patent number: 5303976
Abstract: A multi-functional furniture component has a frame, with a seat portion and a backrest portion, first motion means connected to the frame and connected to a conversion member. The conversion member has a first upholstered side and a second substantially planar side. Actuation of the first motion means enable arcuate movement of the conversion member between a first orientation to service a backrest and a second orientation in which the planar side is generally horizontal. The conversion member may also include a container member with a top panel, a bottom panel spaced apart from the top panel, and at least one side panel interconnecting the top and bottom panels and defining an interior storage region. Preferably, access to the interior storage region is provided by arcuate motion of the top of the container.

  • Patent number: 5301452
Abstract: A bait-carrying fishing hook has an eye, a shank, a rearward bight terminating in a point, and a resilient leg connected to the forward end of the hook and projecting from the front of the hook. The leg has a curve adjacent its connection to the hook which curve may be exaggerated into a bow of the leg such that the center of the leg is further from the shank than the ends of the leg. The remaining portion of the leg may be held by an offset catch at the rear of the hook. The shank, catch and leg, when received in the receptor of the catch define a closed loop bait holder for holding bait on the resilient leg. A fishing lure includes a body having forward and rearward attachment eyes, a hook extending rearward from the body, a bait-carrying fishing hook and a flexible tether connecting the bait holding hook to the eye on the body.

  • Patent number: 5300018
Abstract: The present invention relates to an improved applicator designed for the application of anesthetic fluids such as phenol as well as other fluid medicants to the tympanic membrane. The applicator comprises an articulating member with a finger gripping zone adjacent the proximal end thereof, and an angularly disposed fluid retaining applicator pad secured to the distal end thereof. The distal end is provided with a cylindrical fluid retaining applicator pad attached to the cross-sectional surface of the tip, with the outer diameter of the pad being generally equivalent to that of the articulating member. The fluid retaining applicator pad permits painless application of an anesthetizing fluids such as phenol to the tympanic membrane, with excellent positioning control being made possible by the finger gripping portion of the articulating member.

  • Patent number: 5261182
Abstract: A fishing lure including three components, a base, a skirt, and a nose. The base has a fishing line attachment, a spacer portion connected at a first end to the fishing line attachment, a bulbus body connected at a first side to an opposite end of the spacer portion, and a hook having a shank, a reverse bend and a point extending from a second side of the body. The skirt component is carried by the spacer portion between the bulbus body and the fishing line attachment. The nose, releasably engages the base adjacent the fishing line attachment. The nose includes a bore capable of passing fishing line and means for protectively covering the fishing line attachment. The lure also has means for suppressing catching upon weeds. The body and spacer portion are cast of lead upon the shank of the hook. The body shape is such that it provides an offset center of gravity relative to the hook shank.
