  • Patent number: 7489657
Abstract: A method is disclosed that includes measuring, during a measurement period, values corresponding to noise and interference signals received from a channel. The measurement period coincides with a period when no signal is transmitted on the channel. The method also includes determining one or more thresholds based upon the measured values. Second signals that correspond to a message are received on the channel. The message includes an indicator having a number of possible states. A value is determined corresponding to the indicator based upon the second signals. One of the possible states is assigned to the indicator of the received message based upon the one or more thresholds and the determined value.

  • Patent number: 7489632
Abstract: A simple admission control mechanism for IP based networks is provided. The decision on whether a new flow is accepted is based on the link load information on the paths from the source to destination. The new flow is accepted when the link load is less than a threshold. When at least one of the links on all of the available paths is larger than the acceptable threshold, access is denied to the flow. More than one threshold level may be used. Under the multiple threshold scenario, the traffic may be divided into different classes. The admission control mechanism helps to ensure a network that is not heavily congested.

  • Patent number: 7487543
Abstract: A method and system for the automatic determination of the behavioral profile of a program suspected of having worm-like characteristics includes analyzing data processing system resources required by the program and, if the required resources are not indicative of the program having worm-like characteristics, running the program in a controlled non-network environment while monitoring and logging accesses to system resources to determine the behavior of the program in the non-network environment. A logged record of the observed behavior is analyzed to determine if the behavior is indicative of the program having worm-like characteristics. The non-network environment may simulate the appearance of a network to the program, without emulating the operation of the network.

  • Patent number: 7486747
Abstract: A receiver (20) for performing timing recovery over at least one complex channel at low or less than zero SNR (signal power to noise power, in dB) has at least one receive element such as an antenna, an analog-to-digital converter 21 (ADC), a fractional interpolation filter 23, a matched filter 24, and a timing correction loop 26. The timing correction loop 26 selects a minimum mean square error from the output of the matched filter 24 to determine a timing signal output to the interpolation filter 23, and provides one-bit weights to the matched filter 24. Preferably, the timing correction loop 26 includes a magnitude detector 26c, a moving average filter 26b, and a timing error detector 26a that outputs an integer m and fractional ? timing factor to the interpolation filter 23. Within a phase correction loop 27 is a maximum likelihood channel estimator 27b and a phase error detector 27a that controls a phase rotator 22 disposed between the ADC 21 and the interpolation filter 23.

  • Patent number: 7480605
Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for determination of parameter variability for one or more given interconnects of a plurality of interconnects in a simulated semiconductor circuit. The simulated semiconductor circuit is defined at least in part by a plurality of input parameters. From a distribution of first values of a given input parameter, a plurality of the first values are determined to use when calculating a corresponding plurality of second values for each of one or more output parameters. By using at least the determined plurality of first values for the given input parameter and selected values for other input parameters in the plurality of input parameters, the corresponding plurality of second values are calculated for each of the one or more output parameters. The one or more output parameters correspond to the one or more given interconnects. Each of the second values corresponds to one of the determined plurality of first values.
