  • Patent number: 5544475
Abstract: This invention provides a dual hitch whereby two rakes, tedders or other trail implements can be operated at one time behind a tractor. The dual hitch is designed so that the implements towed by the tractor may be hitched and operated without alteration to the implements themselves. The dual hitch provides the needed operative components. The forward part of the dual hitch mounts on the three-point-hitch of the tractor. A pivot is provided in the dual hitch to allow the rearward implement to operate selectively on a swath to either side of the tractor and the forward implement. In an embodiment of this invention, a hydraulic system is part of the dual hitch to provide adequate power to the rearward implement.

  • Patent number: 5507594
Abstract: Apparatus and method for constructing an artificial ocean reef for use below the ocean surface to serve as an offshore breakwater for inbound waves and thereby prevent beach erosion. The reef has a plurality of adjacent sections, each of which comprises an arched wall having a series of side-by-side transverse concrete blocks, and flexible interconnections between the blocks at adjacent lateral edges to provide a generally smooth outer surface. The arched wall sections are each formed above the water surface on a barge or the like and then submerged with a shoreward side having a shoreward end resting on the floor of the ocean and a seaward side with a seaward end resting on the floor of the ocean outwardly from the shoreward end to present the smooth outer surface on the seaward side of the wall to incoming waves. Adjacent sections are secured together to form a continuous barrier aligned with the shore line of the beach being protected.

  • Patent number: 5346093
Abstract: This invention relates to an improvement in an above-ground storage system for volatile liquids wherein there is a horizontally extending cylindrical storage tank located in a dike, the tank having a top vent through which liquid may escape; the vent being surrounded by a collar and top cover to form a chamber around the vent and the collar having an outlet to drainage means down into the dike; the improvement comprising a weir so positioned in the collar that a limited overflow of liquid from the tank through the vent is retained by the weir within the collar at the top of the tank and escaping to the dike only when the capacity of the weir is exceeded.

  • Patent number: 5253971
Abstract: A device for loading waste material into a refuse collection vehicle including a trough attached to a rear end of the vehicle. An inclined conveyor, having a lower end and an upper end, is disposed in the trough. An anchor is disposed at the lower end of the conveyor for holding a plastic bag containing waste material. The conveyor has slats with teeth for tearing open the plastic bag so that the waste material is emptied from the bag and then carried by the conveyor to the rear end of the vehicle. A hydraulic motor drives the conveyor, and a control bar is provided to activate and deactivate the hydraulic motor. A latch bar latches the control bar in a nondriving position wherein the hydraulic motor is deactivated.
