  • Patent number: 6834091
Abstract: Synchronization of a powerline modem network (10) with a plurality of devices is provided. A plurality of devices (16 and 18) each include a powerline modem (20) and a clock circuit (22) for synchronizing a data rate. The powerline modem permits data transmission between the plurality of devices over a powerline network on data carriers (28). A synchronization signal is transmitted over the powerline network. The synchronization signal includes a carrier (30) operating at a frequency different from the data carriers. The synchronization signal provides each of the plurality of devices a time reference to synchronize the data rate.

  • Patent number: 6831704
Abstract: An improved video production architecture adds an additional transition element for controlling external devices in synchronism with a given transition so that the transition is treated like a simple mix or wipe. The additional transition element is a “Trigger” function that has a value indicating when during the given transition the external device is activated. The trigger function, device controlled and trigger value are set up during preconfiguration of an effect in an effects memory. When the effect is recalled, if the Trigger function is activated on a switcher control panel, then the external device is activated at the time during the given transition specified by the trigger value.

  • Patent number: 6825836
Abstract: A demultiplexer applies picture information to pixels arranged in an array of a display device having columns and rows. The demultiplexer includes transistor switches each having a control terminal, an input terminal and an output terminal. A first bus couples switch control signals to the control terminals of the switches. The conductors of a first bus extend in a region containing each of the switches to form a global bus arrangement. Local buses have each conductors coupled to the input terminals of the switches associated with the individual local bus. The output terminals of the switches associated with the individual local bus are coupled to corresponding, consecutively disposed column conductors of the array. The individual local bus has a section that crosses over the first bus and a second section extending between the crossover section and the input terminals of the associated switches.

  • Patent number: 6819055
Abstract: According to this method, before a high-frequency pulse train is applied between the two electrodes of a pair carried by one plate, at least one sustain pulse is applied between an electrode of this pair and an electrode of another plate of the panel. As the sustain discharges are not generated between the same electrodes as the stabilized discharges, the electrodes may be moved further apart so as to lower the stabilization frequency without thereby having to increase the sustain voltages.

  • Patent number: 6810145
Abstract: A process comprises a step (2) of creating histograms of an image representing the occurrences of the luminance values as a function of these values. A further step compares (5) a histogram of an image T(t) with a histogram of a previous image T(t−1), and is characterized in that the step of comparing (5) consists of calculating, for an occurrence histo13 lum (n,t) corresponding to a luminance value n in the image T(t), the absolute differences between this occurrence and the occurrences histo_lum (n+k, t−1) of the previous image, where K is a natural integer and varies from −K to +K. The process is further characterized by choosing the minimum value Min_Diff (n, t) from among these differences, and is characterized further by in summing (6) the minimum values for the set of luminance values of the histogram, and comparing (7) the sum obtained with a threshold.

  • Patent number: 6804450
Abstract: The invention proposes a method for reverse playback of a digital data stream representing video information. The information is stored in an Intra picture coded format followed by several Non-Intra coded pictures. For reverse playback n sectors are jumped back from the actual scanning position. The location of the n sectors is read in forward direction. A sector location list is created. The sector location list is resorted to a reverse order. The position of sector stream is parsed according to the sector location list in order to find appropriate position of start codes of the video information. Digital data stream from position of start codes is delivered to a following processing unit.

  • Patent number: 6781737
Abstract: A display system (10) comprises a digital micromirror device (DMD) (24) controlled by a driver circuit (30) responsive to sequences of pulse width segments formed by a processor (31). The processor (31) increases the pixel brightness by actuating selected pulses such that within a first range of brightness levels between first and second pixel brightness boundaries, a first large-duration pulse element becomes actuated to reach the second pixel brightness boundary, and within a second range of pixel brightness levels between second and third pixel brightness boundaries, the first large duration pulse element remains actuated. Upon reaching the third pixel brightness boundary, a second large duration pulse element now becomes actuated with the first large duration pulse element remaining actuated. Forming the pulse width segments in this manner serves to reduce motion contouring.

  • Patent number: 6778265
Abstract: A method for copying a recorded series of bits from a first location to a second location on a rewritable disc media. The method includes the steps of selectively marking a beginning point and an end point of a segment of the recorded series of bits, and a location to which said segment is to be copied prior tp said reading step. Subsequently, video data comprising at least a portion of the segment of the recorded series of bits to be copied is read from the disk and stored in a track buffer of a DVD device. At least part of the video data from the track buffer is subsequently transferred directly from the track buffer to the record buffer by a control processor of the DVD device. Finally, the portion of the video data stored in the track buffer is written to the second location.

  • Patent number: 6768520
Abstract: In computer monitors having a picture tube, it may be seen that a small white picture area is displayed with the same white value as a large white picture area. If it were intended to achieve the same result for a television receiver with a picture tube, a voltage supply is necessary in which the power is permitted to fluctuate between 60 and 300 watts given a stable output voltage. On account of the lower luminous efficiency, this effect would have considerably intensified repercussions on the power consumption of plasma screens. The invention is based on the object of providing a simplified method for regulating the picture power in a television receiver. The method according to the invention is distinguished by the following steps. The power consumption of the picture power is obtained by the video voltage R, G, B. The video voltage is converted into an information item which is then a measure of the picture power. This information item is subsequently fed to two regulating loops.
