Abstract: An interface material for use in forming a coating interposed along a heat dissipating path between a solid state electronic device and a heat sinking surface. The coating consists of a formulation of a thermally stable wax which is formed as a polyorganosiloxane graft polymer of octadecene and a methylsiloxane host blended with a thermally conductive viscosity stabilizer consisting of a thermally conductive particulate material such as alumina, boron nitride, among others. The graft polymer, with its molecular weight of between approximately 10,000 and 15,000 has a density of between about 0.8 and 0.9 with a melting point of between about 30 degrees C. and 90 degrees C.
Abstract: An elongated monopolar or bipolar coronary vein lead having a reduced outer diameter and especially adapted to be advanced into a selected coronary vein for delivering a pacing signal to a predetermined region of a patient's heart, such as the left ventricle. A method of using the lead for pacing a patient's heart in the treatment of heart failure is also described. The method for pacing the heart includes advancing the coronary vein lead through both the coronary sinus and into a selected coronary vein of a patient's heart, connecting the lead to an electrical pacing source and applying electrical stimulation to a particular chamber of the patient's heart via the implanted lead. The lead includes a flexible tip and transition ring that enhances the ability to guide the lead through the coronary veins.

Abstract: An implantable monitor for collecting and storing for later telemetric readout physiologic data relating to cardiopulmonary performance. The monitor device includes an accelerometer and associated signal processing circuitry for analyzing the accelerometer output signal and deriving therefrom activity, respiratory, pulse pressure and heart sound information helpful in assessing the efficacy of therapy being rendered to the patient.
Abstract: Pulp prepared from post-consumer used or recycled paper may be employed in the preparation of substrates which are blended with a vapor phase corrosion inhibitor for preparation and fabrication of packaging enclosures or containers. The present invention permits substrates prepared in this fashion to be employed in such applications for which they are rendered highly suitable. Because of the unknown history of the post-consumer recycled materials forming the pulp, the utility of enclosures and/or packages prepared from such pulp is expanded. Vapor phase corrosion inhibitors useful in the present invention preferably include quantities of amine salts, alkali metal molybdates, including ammonium molybdates, or mixtures of molybdates with a second component such as benzotriazole.
Abstract: A device and method for determining the flow rate of gas entrapped fluids delivered in a pulsating flow, such as milk, wherein the invention boasts an improved fluid level detection arrangement for determining flow rates with improved accuracy, and an improved temperature sensing arrangement for determining the temperature of the gas entrapped fluid with improved accuracy.
Abstract: A snowmobile stand is provided for elevating the snowmobile motor driven track. The stand has a generally A-shaped base with an elongated member bent to form a V-shape and having an apex and two opposing spaced-apart legs. A transverse member extends between these two legs. A snowmobile support extends vertically from the A-shaped base. The support includes a channel member at its upper end for receiving the rear bumper of a snowmobile and a rectangular shield plate. This channel member has a generally planar base with angled front and rear walls. The channel member is located at the top of a selectively adjustable inner tube member positioned within a sleeve member. This inner tube member can telescope within the sleeve member to a desired height. Once at the desired height, the inner tube member is fastened to the sleeve member. The sleeve member removably secured to the base and thus can be removed from the base to enable storage of the snowmobile stand in a generally flat arrangement.
Abstract: A non-contaminating pressure transducer module having an isolation member is disclosed. The isolation member isolates a pressure sensor within the transducer module from exposure to ultra high purity fluids flowing through a conduit in the module without significantly affecting the accuracy of the pressure measurement. The transducer module may be positioned within a fluid flow circuit carrying corrosive materials, wherein the pressure transducer module produces a control signal proportional to either a gauge pressure or an absolute pressure of the fluid flow circuit. The pressure transducer module of the present invention also avoids the introduction of particulate, unwanted ions, or vapors into the flow circuit.
Abstract: A multi-compartment collection vehicle having a packing apparatus and a multi-compartment storage body wherein the packing apparatus includes a charging hopper divided into upper and lower portions each having corresponding dual linear packers. The upper charging hopper and upper compartment of the multi-compartment storage body are connected by a ramped floor. The dividing floor of the multi-compartment storage body is ramped from a relatively lower level aligned with the upper charging portion to a higher level defining the major longitudinal portion of the dividing floor. The ramped floor arrangement increases the holding capacity of the upper portion of the charging hopper, without significantly decreasing the holding capacity of the lower storage compartment.
Abstract: A spray container for dispensing a liquid product as a fine mist incorporates a compliant bag-like inner reservoir in which the product to be dispensed resides. The container incorporates a built-in air pump for charging the chamber defined by the outer container with compressed air. A valve mechanism is provided which when actuated by depression of a push-button, causes a mixture of the compressed air and liquid to be dispensed to be ejected as a fine mist through a spray orifice.

Abstract: A prostatic obstruction relief catheter for insertion in the urethra of a male patient comprises an elongated, flexible, tubular, plastic catheter body having a generally cylindrical wall where along its length it is partitioned into a bladder retention zone, a prostate gland spanning zone, a zone designed to cooperate with the urinary sphincter and a fourth zone extending at least partially through the pendulous penis. The tubular catheter body has a plurality of radially extending bores through its wall and in fluid communication with a lumen, whereby urine collected in the bladder may readily bypass a patient's enlarged prostate gland while being controlled by his urinary sphincter to thereby maintain continence.
Abstract: This invention computes by constructing a lattice of states. Every lattice of states corresponding to correct execution satisfies the temporal logic formula comprising a Definitive Axiomatic Notation for Concurrent Execution (DANCE) program. This invention integrates into a state-lattice computational model: a polymorphic, strong type system; visibility-limiting domains; first-order assertions; and logic for proving a program correctness. This invention includes special hardware means for elimination of cache coherency among other things, necessary to construct state-lattices concurrently. The model of computation for the DANCE language consisting of four, interrelated, logical systems describing state-lattices, types, domains, and assertions. A fifth logical system interrelates the other four systems allowing proofs of program correctness. The method of the present invention teaches programs as temporal formulas satisfied by lattices of states corresponding to correct execution.
Abstract: A dispensing system for particulate solid chemical materials is disclosed that includes a charging hopper for receiving a sealed chemical container of solid particulate material to be dispersed, a delivery pipe attached to the charging hopper for conducting materials from the hopper by gravity, a seal piercing means disposed in the charging hopper for opening the sealed container and allowing the solid particulate material to flow from the chemical container into the delivery pipe and a liquid rinsing device including a discharge pipe member for delivering rinse liquid to rinse the hopper and chemical container.
Abstract: Grasping devices including arms pivotally connected to a support member and moved by actuators pivotally connected between the arms and the support member are described. The arms may be either single or multiple member limbs shaped to engage a variety of geometrically shaped objects. Multiple member embodiments include an outer member pivotally connected to an inner member which is pivotally connected to the support member. Each arm may carry a suction cup. The support members of each embodiment may be connected to any lifting device, such as a compound arm attached to a refuse truck.
Abstract: A method for preparing a castable amorphous fluorocarbon coating upon the surface of a substrate which includes the steps of initially depositing a film of a fluorocarbon having a thickness between about 1500 .ANG. and 50,000 .ANG., and thereafter applying a second coating as a coverlay upon the initial film. Both the initial film and the castable coating consist of an amorphous fluorinated (ethylenic-cyclo oxyaliphatic substituted ethylenic) copolymer having the structural repeating unit: ##STR1## wherein "m" and "n" represent integers providing a molecular weight of between about 230,000 and 500,000, with the relative values of "m" and "n" providing a copolymer with a glass transition temperature ranging from between about 160.degree. C. and 240.degree. C.

Abstract: A portable apparatus for measuring the thoracic lung volume of a patient without enclosing the patient in a sealed chamber, comprising first and second impedance belts, a flow meter, shutter and a microprocessor-based controller. The flow meter includes pressure transducers for measuring the change in volume and pressure as the patient respires therethrough. The change in thoracic cage volume of the patient's lungs is directly correlated with the change of impedance in the belts. The thoracic lung volume is then determined from a measured barometric pressure, the measured change in pressure and the measured volume change in the thoracic cage volume utilizing a correction factor to determine the thoracic cage volume.
Abstract: A method of on-site refueling, i.e., delivering petroleum and similar products from a tank truck into customer vehicles or other tanks at a customer's site, that ensures the accurate delivery of products in accordance with the instructions on a series of delivery lists. The method of delivery includes the use of a probe having digital memory and capable of comparing input signals from passive electronic tags with stored data and the use of a truck on-board computer able to read the truck's accumulating gallonage meters, and able to set relay contacts to directly control the refueling of vehicles identified as critical vehicles. Each use of the probe in reading a tag is recorded in the probe.Iadd., .Iaddend.stored in its memory, and later downloaded into the on-board computer used to calculate the gallons and identify the product delivered into each customer tank.
