Abstract: A rotatable chuck or work holder is provided with a pair of opposed jaws operated for simultaneous movement toward and away from each other and the centerline of rotation of the chuck to effect self-centering action of a workplace held between the chuck jaws. One of the chuck jaws has a rotatable and indexable work holding insert and the other having a rotatable work holding insert which cooperate to permit controlled rotation of a work piece held therebetween without releasing the grip on the work piece.
Abstract: A tool for installing siding on a building wall is disclosed wherein only two formed metal parts are shown which are of utter simplicity and are relatively adjustable one to the other to provide variation in desired exposure to weather of each underlying siding member as determined by the positioning of the parts in assembled relation. A generally J-shaped bracket and an adjustable U-shaped siding support are provided with the support being releasably attached to the bracket with a pair of legs on the support extending through a pair of a series of openings in the bracket. The bracket has a lower hook with a reversely bent lip which may be inserted into wedged engagement between a building wall and an affixed strip of siding for readily securing the tool in position to enable a leg of the support to provide the only assistance required for a single worker to install an overlying strip of siding.
Abstract: An electro-mechanical detection system for measuring the point of impact of a missile such as a sports projectile on a target and for measuring the velocity and force of impact. The detection system is contained in a large plastic envelope, on which a target is displayed and in one embodiment, the detector is a wire or plastic grid that is instrumented to measure changes in stress in the individual grid elements that occur when the missile impacts the target. In another form of this invention, the detector is embedded in an elastomeric mat contained within the plastic envelope with electrical conductors within the mat subject to movement in a magnetic field when the mat compresses in response to the impact of a missile on the target. In either form of the invention, suitable electronic circuitry is used to convert the signals generated at impact to a display.
Abstract: A double-shank ball fitting has a ball with integrally formed shanks projecting in opposite radial directions from a center of the ball for releasable locking engagement with a mating fitting having a pair of longitudinally aligned, reversed keyhole openings sharing a common ball swivel cavity with individual grooves disposed along opposed major surfaces of that mating fitting to form longitudinally aligned, shank-receiving slots.
Abstract: A power operated drive shaft and brake assembly are coaxially mounted for rotation inside a cable drum which is coupled to the drive shaft through gearing. The brake assembly has an adapter housing and one-way clutch for drivingly connecting the drive shaft and adapter housing during a "cable out" operation. A plurality of brake pads are mounted for movement relative to the brake adapter housing. The brake pads are angularly offset in a non-radial orientation to negate undesired brake drag caused by centrifugal forces while the pads are spring loaded to provide a predetermined braking force to hold a load in place after completion of a winching operation.
Abstract: Multi-purpose apparatus having a single power-driven disc-like element to effect chipping of branches and related debris fed into a disc-mounted blade/aperture configuration on one side of the disc with a vacuum/volume reduction structure having fan blades disposed on the other side of the disc cooperating with a cylindrical screen. The disc and screen are located within a housing having an air inlet for air moved by the fan blades whereby debris can be drawn in from the front end of an air passageway connected to the air inlet and discharged with the chips and debris through the screen out of a single outlet. The outlet is located at the top of a generally volute housing and the apparatus can be mounted on wheels for walk-behind operation with handlebars supporting a debris collection bag attached to the outlet end of the housing. A passageway conducts air into the housing to which attachments can be affixed.

Abstract: An air tool for setting fasteners includes a pressure selecting valve member and internal passages for air balancing this valve member with a pressure relief pilot valve for bleeding a chamber of the valve member to atmosphere responsive to increased motor operating pressure. A plurality of such pilot valves may be provided in a manually rotatable selector disc. Each pilot valve may be set to a different torque output for quick and easy tool adjustment upon registering a given pilot valve with the pressure selecting valve chamber upon manipulation of the selector disc.
Abstract: A raceway includes a base and removable cover defining internal channels; discrete conductive shields are mounted in each channel in overlying relation to power and communications conductors therein; and a latching member is removably mounted between the cover and base continuously along coextending lengths of the latching member and the cover, the latching member being in interfering relation to cover movements required for removal of the cover from the base.
Abstract: A work holding device is disclosed which has a fixed jaw and a movable jaw mounted on a pair of parallel guide rods for guiding the movable jaw toward and away from the fixed jaw. For moving and actuating the movable jaw, the guide rods are engaged by a handle operated cam member with a self-energizing frictional locking action responsive to handle movement.
Abstract: A shaft (5) is driven in the rotary piston machine. The torque is transmitted via first cam rings (7), connected to it, to rolling bodies (9) supported in cages and from these rolling bodies to second cam rings (8), which drive the rotation bodies (3) of the rotary piston machine. The cam rings (7, 8) and the rolling bodies (9) are, in this case, partially provided with bevel-wheel teeth and partially with cam track teeth (FIG. 3 ). The rotary piston machine can also be used as an engine and is characterised by a particularly high efficiency.
Abstract: An ozone generator is provided wherein pressure controlled air is supplied to an enclosure containing an ultraviolet light source arranged so that the air circulates cylonically about the source to exit the enclosure. Temperature control for lamp and air in the housing is provided.
