  • Patent number: 8304179
Abstract: The present disclosure provides a method for manufacturing a semiconductor device. The method includes coating a photoresist on a substrate. The photoresist is exposed to radiation. The radiation exposed photoresist is baked. The radiation exposed and baked photoresist is developed to create an image pattern. The image pattern is treated with a treating material. An ion implantation process is performed to the substrate and the treated image pattern. The image pattern is stripped from the substrate. A carbon atom ratio of the treating material is less than a carbon atom ratio of the photoresist.

  • Patent number: 8307240
Abstract: The present invention is a method for communication between an initiator system and a block storage cluster. The method includes receiving a command at a first storage system of a block storage cluster. The command is transmitted by the initiator system to the first storage system via a network and includes a request for data. The method further includes transferring the stored data from the first storage system to the initiator system via the network when data requested in the data request is stored by the first storage system. The method further includes transmitting a referral response from the first storage system to the initiator system when a portion of the data requested in the data request is not stored by the first storage system, but is stored by a second storage system of the block storage cluster. The referral response indicates to the initiator system that: a) not all of the requested data was transferred; and b) that the second storage system stores the portion of the requested data.

  • Patent number: 8307044
Abstract: Methods and systems for improved performance in virtualized storage systems. Features and aspects hereof provide for a virtualization circuit integrated in each storage controller of a storage system. The virtualization circuit is operable to determine whether a request received from an attached host system will be processed locally by the receiving storage controller or will be processed by another storage controller of the storage system. If another storage controller is to process the request, the virtualization circuit is operable to transfer the request to the appropriate other storage controller. The virtualization circuit then receives result information from the other storage controller and returns such result information to the requesting host system. Integration of the virtualization circuit at below level of request processing of storage controllers improves performance of virtualization as compared to prior techniques.

  • Patent number: 8304354
Abstract: Methods are disclosed herein for determining the laser beam size and the scan pattern of laser annealing when fabricating backside illumination (BSI) CMOS image sensors to keep dark-mode stripe patterns corresponding to laser scan boundary effects from occurring within the sensor array regions of the image sensors. Each CMOS image sensor has a sensor array region and a periphery circuit. The methods determines a size of the laser beam from a length of the sensor array region and a length of the periphery circuit so that the laser beam covers an integer number of the sensor array region for at least one alignment of the laser beam on the array of BSI image sensors. The methods further determines a scan pattern so that the boundary of the laser beam does not overlap the sensor array regions during the laser annealing, but only overlaps the periphery circuits.

  • Patent number: 8304659
Abstract: Circuit boards and methods for their manufacture are disclosed. The circuit boards carry high-speed signals using conductors formed to include lengthwise channels. The channels increase the surface area of the conductors, and therefore enhance the ability of the conductors to carry high-speed signals. In at least some embodiments, a discontinuity also exists between the dielectric constant within the channels and just outside the channels, which is believed to reduce signal loss into the dielectric material.

  • Patent number: 8303503
Abstract: A system and method is provided for using backscattered data and known parameters to characterize vascular tissue. Specifically, in one embodiment of the present invention, an ultrasonic device is used to acquire RF backscattered data (i.e., IVUS data) from a blood vessel. The IVUS data is then transmitted to a computing device and used to create an IVUS image. The blood vessel is then cross-sectioned and used to identify its tissue type and to create a corresponding image (i.e., histology image). A region of interest (ROI), preferably corresponding to the identified tissue type, is then identified on the histology image. The computing device, or more particularly, a characterization application operating thereon, is then adapted to identify a corresponding region on the IVUS image. To accurately match the ROI, however, it may be necessary to warp or morph the histology image to substantially fit the contour of the IVUS image.

  • Patent number: 8297164
Abstract: A remotely operable machine gun charger is provided for selectively controlling the forward-to-rear movement of a machine gun bolt pin. When the bolt pin is released from its safe position the charger permits the bolt pin to be spring-driven back to its armed position substantially instantaneously by the bolt spring without waiting for pin engagement and drive structure portions of the gun to be returned to their forwardmost positions. The charger permits the gun to be fired during such movement of the engagement and drive structure back to their forwardmost positions, and the charger may be mounted on and removed from the machine gun without the use of tools, or the necessity of removing or adjusting any of the internal components of the machine gun.
