Abstract: A slideable control is provided for use in retractable bristle brushes. It operates by co-action with a rotatable, cylindrical mandrel carrying pivoted bristles and having an angular cam slot. The control includes a longitudinally slideable button in the handle which has a control pin operatively extending through a control slot in the handle and then into the cam slot to cause rotation of the mandrel. The angular cam slot includes an axial portion at each end to receive the control pin and to lock the mandrel in a position with the bristles either fully retracted or fully extended. The control button includes a pair of parallel guide blades, one on each side of the control pin, slideable within slotted guides in the handle, to reduce torque between the control pin and the cam slot. The control slot may include detents proximate to its ends to receive and hold the control pin against longitudinal movement.
Abstract: A hair curler is provided formed of a pair of handles pivoted together at one end with one handle having a heated barrel and the other handle having a hair clamp at their opposite ends. The hair clamp has a flexible spring connecting it to its handle. This permits the clamp to vary the angle of its closed position relative to the barrel and so to accommodate differing amounts and spacing of hair on the curler barrel. The handles may be spring pressed from each other at their pivot and include a complementary latching means to hold them in the closed position while hair is being set or when the unit is stored.
Abstract: A flush type wall mounted coaxial connector assembly is provided for interconnection of coaxial cables. The assembly uses a recessed wall plate having at least one internal side which is at an obtuse angle to the surface and carrying a coaxial cable connector. As a result, the cable interconnection will be behind the wall surface and the extending coaxial cable will run substantially parallel to the wall surface and not intrude excessively into the room.
Abstract: A hot air hair curler includes a cylindrical hollow handle having an air inlet at one end and a cylindrical hollow barrel having air outlet openings in its sidewall extending from the other end. An electric heating element and a motor driven fan are enclosed within the handle, together with a switch to which is connected an electrical supply cord. The switch, being relatively large, is positioned in the handle near the air inlet and is connected to a slide button positioned forwardly on the handle by a rigid actuating arm positioned within a longitudinal channel within the handle. The actuating arm defines a wireway providing convenient routing for wires from the switch to the motor and heating element.
Abstract: There is disclosed a bowl for storing fruit or vegetables in such a manner as to minimize spoilage. The bowl is mounted on a pedestal and has holes in the bottom to permit the entrance of air. Formed on the inner surface of the bowl are a plurality of ribs which support the fruit or vegetables with minimal surface contact and also form channels for the flow of air therebetween.
