Abstract: A valve manifold device for coupling a gas operated appliance in fluid communication to gas cylinders, comprising a manifold having at least two inlet ports and an outlet port, at least two inlet valves respectively attached in fluid communication to the inlet ports of the manifold while being releasably attachable in fluid communication to an outlet assembly on the one pound gas cylinders, and an outlet coupling attached in fluid communication to the outlet port of the manifold and releasably attachable, directly or indirectly, in fluid communication to the gas operated appliance. The inlet valves may be check valves having an interior opening that serves as a gas conduit through the valve and into the manifold. The outlet coupling may have an annular outlet collar compatible with a standard POL, Type 1 or 1-20 connector and may include a check valve.
Abstract: A detector unit apparatus and method for operating and producing a detector unit to be adapted to varying environmental influences or to its own, in particular mechanical, electrical or magnetic parameters of the detector unit, which are dependent on measuring lengths. An inventive positional sensor operating according to the running time principle of a mechanically elastic shaft and comprising a waveguide, a positional element, e.g. a positional magnet, which can be displaced in particular along the waveguide, in addition to a detector assembly that is located on the waveguide and comprises a detector coil wherein the detector assembly has a current source so that a current can flow through the detector coil.
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a rut resistant coating and a method for applying the rut resistant coating on an existing surface for increasing resistance to high vertical and horizontal strains and high shear stresses. The method includes applying a binding material layer of the rut resistant coating on the existing surface to provide a substantially impermeable moisture barrier to the existing surface, the binding material layer containing less than about 11% of the total binding material of the rut resistant coating. After applying the binding material layer, an aggregate mixture layer is applied on the binding material layer to provide the wear surface of the rut resistant coating and support and structure to the rut resistant coating to resist rutting, the aggregate mixture layer containing an asphalt solution.

Abstract: This invention relates to a novel seal coat process and equipment for applying the seal coat to improve the reliability of seal coat aggregate retention to the surface of the pavement by increasing the surface area of aggregate covered with binder and interlocking the aggregate with finer gradation material such as choke stone. It also relates to the use of lower amounts of asphalt binder, lower amounts of aggregate application, lower quality of aggregates, use of softer binders, and faster release to traffic times.
Abstract: A system for planning and verifying off-site disaster recovery plans as well as implementing alternate fall back operations in the event of a disaster. The system includes at least one primary mainframe computer having an inboard catalog component, a primary emulated device controller connected to the primary computer, and a primary virtual tape system connected to the primary computer. A primary virtual tape system catalog is connected to the primary virtual tape system. A disaster recovery administrator using remote management tools maintains user and resource profiles and controls configuration of the primary emulated device controller and the primary virtual tape system.
Abstract: A variable position gas trap apparatus and method to separate gases entrained in drilling fluid in a tank. The apparatus includes a gas trap attached to a carriage and a frame attached to the tank. A lever moveable by the float rod, activates the control valve to raise or lower the carriage having the gas trap container attached thereto. A feedback control loop is responsive to changes in the level of the drilling fluid in the tank. A mechanism is provided to mechanically and automatically move the carriage with respect to the frame in response to the feedback control loop.
Abstract: A high pressure slurry plunger pump is described which provides a clean fluid buffer around the suction and discharge valves of the pump and in some cases in the vicinity of the plunger seal mechanism in order to displace erosive slurry material and thus extend the life of the pump and improve pump efficiency.
Abstract: Improved methods and compositions for protecting plants or seeds from soil-borne fungal diseases. The composition may include a triterpenoid isolated from Glycyrrhiza glabra and a polymer. The triterpenoid may be Carbenoxolone disodium salt, and the polymer may be a water-insoluble, water-soluble or flowable, seed coating polymer. The methods may comprise the steps of applying the composition to the plant's seeds, roots, tubers and/or foliage, and may also include applying the composition to the soil surround surrounding the plant. The composition may be applied as an aqueous solution or as dry particulates, and may be used for the treatment of soybean plants and seeds.
Abstract: A sequence or array of electrochemical cells storing both digital and analog data. Both binary code and codes having a higher base may be stored in the memory device to increase information density. Such battery arrays could also provide power for the micro or nanodevice. Devices are microscale and nanoscale in size and utilize an electrical crossbar system to record and read data stored in the device.
Abstract: The invention relates to a cable and apparatus and a method for forming the same. The cable comprises a series of conductors, said conductors arranged in sets of two or more, each set having the conductors twisted with respect to each other and passing along the length of the cable encapsulated in a material which forms the body of the cable such that the conductors are integral with the cable body. The material also acts to maintain the spacing of the respective sets. In one embodiment the rigidity of the cable varies dependent on whether or not the cable is twisted. The apparatus provides for the efficient manufacture and storage of the cable.
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and system for use in assessing the quality and integrity of a data transmission path or link between a data transmitting location and at least one receiving location at which a broadcast data receiver is located with means to allow an error rate calculation to be made with respect to a known data signal sequence which is inserted into the transmitted signal. On the basis of the calculations made and sent to the transmitting location a particular data modulation scheme is adopted to provide the most efficient data transmission method for each receiving location. The invention is of particular use in cable data transmission networks of the type which for example allow television channels and other services to be provided to a plurality of receiving locations.
Abstract: For bubble free emptying of pasteous substances from drum-shaped containers these are pumped out through a drum follower plate placed onto the paste. In a refinement, the drum follower plate is provided hollow with a lower grid plate and before the beginning of the pumping out process through evacuation of the hollow intermediary space air, possibly present under the drum follower plate, is sucked from there into the intermediary space, so that the pump scooping from below the grid plate only feeds pasteous material right from the beginning.
Abstract: Novel prosthetic teeth constructed using moldable, micro-filled composite resin, and a novel method for making and bonding the same onto implants in a patient's mouth. The teeth are prepared and seated in the patient's mouth using materials and methods that are known and widely available. The present invention may be applied to any situation in which one or more replacement teeth are required, including full-arch replacement for upper and/or lower teeth.
Abstract: In order to be able to perform a measurement of the run time of an electrical impulse in a position sensor through a single slow timed timing generator, while still capable to achieve a high precision of the measurement result, the entire run time is determined, so that the number of the completely performed system timings is counted as a coarse time value, and the fractions thereof are counted as a fine time value, in which the electrical impulse is started at a fixed point in time of the system timing, e.g. at the beginning of the timing, and the difference value is measured between the end of the coarse time interval and the arrival of the wave as a fine time interval, which is then digitized and computed with the coarse time value.
