Abstract: A data transmission system includes a first data terminal equipment, a first modem, a transmission line, a second modem and a second data terminal equipment connected in series. In order to send a control command to the second modem, the first modem interrupts a path of transmission data from the first data terminal equipment to the transmission line. Then, the first modem sends the control command to the second modem. When the second modem detects the control commands, it interrupts a path of receiving data from the transmission line to the second data terminal equipment to avoid a dead-lock of the data transmission system.
Abstract: An integrated communication system for voice and data connecting an Ethernet LAN to an external communication network by utilizing a conventional communication system. An interface connected to the Ethernet LAN and transferring a voice signal at a data link level without processors is stored in a personal computer. An ISDN voice interface for connecting the personal computer to the external communication network with a voice channel is connected to the LAN. The input/output data of the ISDN voice interface and various routers performing data communication on the LAN is multiplexed/demultiplexed in a plurality of channels by an ADSL multiplexer. The input/output data of the multiplexer is connected to the external communication network through an access network having a user interface.

Abstract: An automatic drive circuit for an ultrasonic probe, such as a dental scaler insert, is operative with a probe which includes a magnetostrictive unit and a vibratory element to be set into vibration by the magnetostrictive unit upon energization of the magnetostrictive unit with an alternating magnetic field. An energizing coil is enclosed within a handle having a compartment for receiving the probe. The coil is located within the handle adjacent to the probe-receiving compartment for applying the alternating magnetic field to the magnetostrictive unit upon insertion of the probe into the handle and upon energizing the coil by the drive circuit. An oscillator of the drive circuit is coupled to the coil for applying an oscillatory current to the coil. The drive circuit includes a frequency sensor for sensing a frequency of the oscillatory current, the sensor outputting a signal designating a magnitude of the frequency.

Abstract: A LAN emulation system is capable of avoiding a fault without making a line dual by a local dual structure on the premise that a LAN emulation server is made dual. An ATM switch, to which a LAN emulation terminal is connected, is provided with a line fault detecting unit, a routing table in which to define a correspondence a specified address to a line, and a line status table rewritten based on a result of detection by the fault detecting unit. A LAN emulation configuration server (LECS) connected to the ATM switch is constructed to have a dual structure. If a fault occurs in a connection to the LAN emulation configuration server, it is feasible to easily implement a connection to the dual LAN emulation configuration server and, because of no necessity for making dual the line itself, to easily construct a fault avoiding system.
Abstract: On the basis of tap coefficients which a tap coefficient updating circuit updates in succession, a maximum-tap position detecting unit, a fluctuation width detecting unit and a comparator detect a state where the transmission delay time of an echo path exceeds the echo control time of an echo canceller. In a case where the state has been detected, a changeover controlling unit stops an echo cancelling operation which includes a process for subtracting a pseudo echo signal from a send-in signal.
Abstract: A call controlling apparatus for receiving input signals each including a phone number through respective communication channels and making a call. The apparatus provides a plurality of telephones corresponding respectively to the channels and a storage storing respective phone numbers of the telephones; detects the phone number in the input signals; determines in which input signals the phone number is detected; selects the phone number based on the determining; compares the selected phone number with those stored in the storage and makes the call on the corresponding telephone depending on a result of the comparison.
Abstract: A transfer method of a push-button signal includes the steps of detecting a push-button signal created by an end user terminal during a state in which the end user terminal is connected to a remote service system by an exchange via a network, by using a push-button signal receiver, encoding the push-button signal detected by the push-button signal receiver to a produce a push-button transfer signal by using the push-button signal receiver, and transmitting the push-button transfer signal to the service system from the exchange to the service system via a signal line of the network.
Abstract: An exchange constituting an ATM network administers the number of UBR connections for every line port included in the exchange. Upon receiving a request for setting a UBR connection, the exchange determines the route of the UBR connection on the basis of the number of the UBR connections administered for every line port included in the exchange.
Abstract: A rope chain formed by intertwining links of a U-shaped cross-section is disclosed, which links are formed from a wire having an interconnecting upper portion, a pair of substantially straight legs extending downwardly from the interconnecting portion, and a substantially open bottom portion or seam opposite said interconnecting portion. The substantially straight legs, results in a rope chain having a full-bodied appearance and a snugger interfit between intertwined chain links. The U-shaped configuration can produce a rope chain that uses less precious metal than if the cross-section of the wire were annular and the links themselves were of annular, toroidal configuration.
Abstract: A computerized apparatus implementing a real time detection algorithm for non drug-activated imaging diseases, e.g. in cervical and bladder tissues. The apparatus employs an ultra-bright metal halide light source, utilizing its definite and sharp purple & green spectral lines, for producing excitation light to excite the tissue to generate a combined reflection & autofluorescence light from the tissue. An advanced optical system, coupled to a digital color & multi spectral camera, is used for collecting the combined reflection & autofluorescence light from the inspected tissues. This system contains a miniature filter wheel, running synchronously with the camera video frame—rate (i.e.—30 frames/sec for NTSC or 25 frames/sec for PAL).
