Abstract: There is provided a circuit board cabinet which is capable of more reliably preventing flames of a fire in a shelf from spreading to external devices, without degrading cooling capability thereof. Flames of the fire occurring in the shelf rise within a slot, pass through a shield plate, and then enter a heat shield unit. In the heat shield unit, the flames are first blocked by a heat shield plate and substantially reduced in force while passing through holes formed through the heat shield plate. Portions of the flames which were not blocked by the heat shield plate reach a top board of the unit after passing through the holes, where they are reduced. Since there is a predetermined distance between the heat shield plate and the top board, the flames having passed through the heat shield plate spread horizontally to some extent and then reach the top board. Therefore, it is possible to reduce the force of the flames sufficiently by the top board.

Abstract: Disclosed is an ATM switching apparatus capable of reducing a probability an IAM acceptance being rejected due to a difference in bandwidth acquiring algorithm. The ATM switching apparatus is constructed such that when receiving an IAR due to the difference in bandwidth calculation algorithm for the IAM indicating a use of a certain VPC, a calculated bandwidth value is set in an estimated free bandwidth value about the VPC within a bandwidth management table, a value given by Calculation Bandwidth Value/Free bandwidth Value is set in a ratio, and the VPC is selected by using not the free bandwidth value but the estimated free bandwidth value (=Free Bandwidth Value×Ratio) when transmitting the IAM. It is another contrivance that when the free bandwidth value changes, the estimated free bandwidth value is also changed to establish “Estimated Free Bandwidth Value=Free Bandwidth Value×Ratio” without changing the ratio.

Abstract: A television camera apparatus for surveillance applications includes a television camera having a base plate to be attached to a supporting structure, a camera holder fixed to the base plate and a camera body protruding from the camera holder. The camera body includes two antipodal segments spaced from each other and fixedly attached to the camera holder and having chord planes facing to and parallel to each other and a central segment disposed between the antipodal segments and having a shape of an arcuated drum having two sides parallel to each other and a thickness slightly smaller than the distance between the chord planes of the two antipodal segments facing each other. The central segment houses a picture pickup element, a lens and a lens pane which has a curvature surface of a diameter equal to that of the central segment so that the television camera looks like a dome-shaped television camera.

Abstract: A data transmission system includes a first data terminal equipment, a first modem, a transmission line, a second modem and a second data terminal equipment connected in series. In order to send a control command to the second modem, the first modem interrupts a path of transmission data from the first data terminal equipment to the transmission line. Then, the first modem sends the control command to the second modem. When the second modem detects the control commands, it interrupts a path of receiving data from the transmission line to the second data terminal equipment to avoid a dead-lock of the data transmission system.

Abstract: A rope chain formed by intertwining links of a U-shaped cross-section is disclosed, which links are formed from a wire having an interconnecting upper portion, a pair of substantially straight legs extending downwardly from the interconnecting portion, and a substantially open bottom portion or seam opposite said interconnecting portion. The substantially straight legs, results in a rope chain having a full-bodied appearance and a snugger interfit between intertwined chain links. The U-shaped configuration can produce a rope chain that uses less precious metal than if the cross-section of the wire were annular and the links themselves were of annular, toroidal configuration.

Abstract: When an input/output request of a channel adapter causes a mishit on a cache and a staging amount by a device adapter reaches a predetermined amount, the cache is set into a hit status and the channel adapter is reactivated. By receiving a hit response, the reactivated channel adapter executes an input and an output for the cache and the staging of the channel adapter in parallel. A defective/alternating track management table which corresponds to track data stored in a cache memory and has each of addresses of a defective track and an alternating track and flag information showing a link state between both of the defective track and the alternating track is provided for an input/output controller. For a retrieving request in which the defective track address is designated, the defective/alternating track management table is retrieved and the corresponding alternating track address is obtained, thereby judging the presence or absence of a registration of a hash table.

Abstract: An apparatus and a method for selecting an access router's protocol from a plurality of protocols in a communication system including first and second access routers for transferring a packet between the access routers according to the selected protocol. The packet is originated/terminated by users having a user address assigned and accommodated in the respective access routers. Storage is provided in the apparatus for storing a protocol type of the access router corresponding to the user address. The first access router issues a protocol request signal including the user address. The apparatus receives the protocol request signal and referring to the storage, responds to the signal with the protocol type of the second access router accommodating the user having the user address included in the request signal. The first access router, selects a protocol common to the first and second access routers to transfer the packet based on the response.

A program memory stores a program divided into a plurality of block programs, the program being stored on an individual block program basis. A data memory stores a set of data used for executing each block program stored in the program memory, the set of data being divided into a plurality of data blocks and stored on an individual data block basis. A program executing unit executes each block program stored in the program memory by using a corresponding data block stored in the data memory. A program changing unit obtains a new block program from an external device each time execution of one of the block programs by the program executing unit is completed so as to store the obtained new block program in the program memory.

The coding process unit of the transmission side conference terminal device which is specified again by a speaker identifying information item codes image information by an interframe coding operation starting from a head frame.

Abstract: A two-mode demodulating apparatus for use in a radio terminal in a mobile communication system has a linear reception demodulating circuit and a non-linear reception demodulating circuit which can be selectively operated by selecting a mode. The non-linear reception demodulating circuit has a second frequency converting unit for frequency-converting a received signal into a low-frequency signal, a variable-band filtering unit for allowing a signal in a desired band contained in an output of the second frequency converting unit to pass therethrough, and a non-linear reception demodulating process unit for performing a non-linear reception demodulating process on an output from the filtering unit, thereby receiving and demodulating a linear modulated wave and a non-linear modulated wave while suppressing increases of the circuit scale and the power consumption, and generalizing a hardware structure for an applied non-linear modulating system.

Abstract: An emergency call control apparatus for a mobile communication system does not disconnect, in a handoff, an emergency call from a mobile station in a service zone to which the mobile station has moved even when the radio channels are congested in the service zone. When a channel securement requesting unit in a first base station controller receives an emergency call from the mobile station, the channel securement requesting unit requests a second base station controller associated with a service zone adjacent to a service zone of a first base station to secure a radio channel. In the second base station controller, a securing unit secures an idle radio channel. When the mobile station engaging in an emergency call moves into the adjacent service zone, a connection requesting unit in the first base station controller requests the second base station controller to make a radio connection between the mobile station and the second base station through a radio channel secured by the securing unit.

The support has a high resolution graduation consisting of a sequence or array of optical elements focusing the light beam sensing plane on a support on which light-sensitive sensing elements are arranged so that the displacement of the graduation support in relation to the sensing plane can be assessed with precision. The light flux is modified by the graduation and intercepts at least the entire width of an optical element such that the light energy is converted into an alternating signal representing the position of the graduation support in relation to the support. The device is suitable for producing high resolution sensors with simple elements which are easy to manufacture.
