Abstract: A pad designed for therapeutic uses in bath tubs, comprising a multiplicity of resilient, and vibrant, pad elements encased in a sanitary water-proof covering, with means for holding the same in contact with the bottom and back of a bath tub when filled with water.
Abstract: This invention is a method, and apparatus for performing the method, for safety braking of skateboards wherein the method is practiced by the activation of a friction device to one pair of wheels of a skateboard in such manner that one using such a skateboard may bring the board to a controlled stop.
Abstract: A mill for the reduction and classification of ore utilizing an impact rotor to obtain the reduction of large ore chunks and particles by impaction between shatter bars and hammers mounted on the rotor. The shatter bars are mounted on walls of an impact reduction chamber in a position to be impacted by the ore thrown from the impact rotor hammers. Particles are then carried by vertical air flow into vertically stacked classification chambers which are located directly above the impact reduction chamber. Gravity return of the heavier of these particles causes a secondary impact with the impact rotor producing a continuous interchange of particles and resulting in the autogenous attrition of the particles between the rotor and breaker bars. Another feature of the present invention is the utilization of "fluidizer" to maintain the flow of particles which accumulate at the bottom of the impact reduction chamber.
Abstract: This invention is a method and apparatus for performing such method, whereby ordinary single glass building elements, such as windows, doors and the like are converted to double walled, partially evacuated elements by the use of special adaptive elements in combination with sealant and desicant materials.
Abstract: This is a method and apparatus for practicing the method, for the utilization of geothermal energy for the production of power, wherein a fluid (stream and/or hot liquid, or the like) from a geothermal aquifer is brought up the surface of the Earth through several wells of a group, and returned as condensate after passing through an energy extractor through another well, or wells of the group, and wherein a reversible flow arangement is provided whereby the fluid may be taken from different wells and utilized with the condensate going back through different wells successively and in turn by means of which salt deposits are eliminated, the heat of the aquifer is maintained, and maximum energy exraction is achieved.
Abstract: This is a unique and improved throat for chimneys such as chimneys used in connection with fireplaces which features a complete former damper and throat attached to the sides of the chimney hood portion immediately above the firebox in such manner as to provide a chamber into which downdrafts from the chimney will be directed so as to be diverted back up the chimney and wherein the draft from the firebox or combustion chamber together with smoke will be diverted up the chimney so that if diverted otherwise by downdraft it will enter the air shelf and return up the chimney; the invention is further characterized by the capability of being formed of cardboard or the like in an inexpensive manner which will burn away, and leave the masonry which has been formed thereabout as the final unit; the air shelf is provided with unique cleaning potential through provision of a washing opening.
Abstract: This is a unique arrangement for transmission of power, particularly for bicycles, and the like, in which arrangements are made through the use of roller clutch and ratchet arrangements or the like to provide for regular rotary leg motion or alternatively for reciprocating motion of pedals or power arms.
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for performing said method, for the safety braking of automotive vehicles wherein a trailer is pulled by a prime mover, in such manner so as to eliminate the problems of jack-knifing and the like on sudden stops, and wherein a feature of the method and apparatus involves the dynamic augmentation of the braking torque of an over-driven motor, where the motor is connected to the trailer wheels and the friction brake is added to the negative torque of the over-driven motor in proportion to the negative torque generated by the over-driven motor during deceleration.
Abstract: This is a method and device for carrying fresh produce in a fresh condition by barge upon waterways and particularly is characterized by a unique compartmentalized arrangement encompassing two air conditioning units and a single divisible produce compartment in which produce may be placed on pallets, wherein some of the pallets are utilized cooperatively with the air conditioning units to form plenum chamber ducts for the dispersion of the conditioned air. This air-conditioned barge is further characterized by a unique air-conditioning apparatus employing alternately and optionally air or water cooling of the refrigeration coils of the air-conditioning unit.
Abstract: This invention is a new and unique acoustical board formed of fire retardant materials which board has the unique qualities of being fire retardant, sound absorbing, heat insulating, and decorative, and may be formed virtually in any desired size and shape. It is composed of fiberglass reinforced melamine resin panels or the like having one grooved surface covered by fiberglass cloth with perforations suitable to admit sound waves into the grooved areas of the underlying board in such manner as to trap, and debilitate such sound waves therein.
Abstract: A funnel with an elongated flexible spout is provided wherein a cap is located on the flexible spout near its terminal end whereby the cap can be snapped onto the funnel to keep the funnel and the pouring nozzle clean. This is further characterized by providing a means in which a can of oil or the like may be directly snapped into the funnel and wherein the cap may be independent of the funnel and spout but cooperative therewith to keep the funnel and pouring nozzle clean.
Abstract: This is an actuating device to be attached to a wall-mounted switch plate for actuating a light switch in a room or other place at a pre-determined time interval and/or for deactivating such light switch or a combination of the two. The device is particularly characterized and it may mount onto the wall place and does not require disconnection thereof from the wall or alternatively may replace the wall plate. It is further characterized by a simple, manual, override switch.
Abstract: This invention is in the field of electrically operated amusement vehicles, such as bumper cars and the like, in which the vehicles receive electrical energy from segments of floor material alternately connected to the different poles of a source of electrical energy. This invention is particularly characterized by a means wherein an alternating current source of electricity is connected to the floor material together with an appropriate corrective circuit arrangement in the vehicle to convert, automatically, so as to provide direct current within the vehicles themselves. A particularly unusual feature includes the method of providing multi-phase current in such manner as to provide for increased power and speed to the vehicle depending upon the skill of the operator, together with an electronic speed control.
