  • Patent number: 4572179
Abstract: This invention is a method, and an apparatus for practicing said method, wherein a resilient ring-like member of rubber or the like is expanded in a triangular configuration and slipped over the tails of swine for the purposes of totally interrupting the flow of blood and causing the tail to drop off, at the same time requiring no surgery or other techniques causing a loss of blood. The method utilizes a particular apparatus, a unique invention in itself, for expanding the ring in an unusual, economical, and rapid manner. The expanding apparatus comprises a pair of pegs mounted on jaws and activated away from one another by a pair of handles which in turn activate a third peg cooperating with the first two to form a triangular configuration.

  • Patent number: 4538336
Abstract: This invention is a method and apparatus for quickly and infinitely adjusting the degree of eccentricity of a rotating member wherein a first rotating member is provided with interlocking means to a second member carrying means to rotate at an adjustable off-center relationship to the primary radial center of the initial rotating member. The adjustment is accomplished by an interconnecting tapered fit between the two members utilizing a critical tapered angle which is capable of locking in position by the taper itself but yet which can release when desired for adjustment.

  • Patent number: 4538802
Abstract: This invention is a method for transfering energy alternately between two moving, rotating and swinging objects, and includes a pair of objects suspended in close proximity to one another in such manner that the suspension means for the two items may be wrapped around one another, and is characterized by one object swinging in a large circle with its suspension means wrapping about that of the other while the other stands relatively still, and subsequently the second object, without external interference, commences a circular and swinging action on its own, bringing the first to rest, and wherein the two objects may transmit motion from one to the other in this manner repetitively.

  • Patent number: 4520921
Abstract: This invention is a method, and apparatus for practicing said method, wherein cylindrical containers may be closed in an unusual and highly controllable manner, especially by persons who may have difficulty using their fingers in normal fashion, by means of first specially designed container chamber portion connectable to a second chamber closing portion wherein the two different pieces of apparatus are so constructed and so interact that by appropriate turning and the formation of the two parts the two parts can be caused to safely interlock, but at the same time can be formed for relative ease of opening. Included are the method for closing by a deformation together with twisting action and two matching portions which can operate cooperatively as described.
