Abstract: A latch control arrangement includes a transfer lever coupled to the locking lever of a door latch for movement therewith between locked and unlocked positions to place the door latch in its locked or unlocked conditions. A power operator is coupled to the transfer lever. A manual operator is movable from a neutral position to either of a pair of first operating positions to actuate the power operator. Continued movement of the operator from a first operating position to either of a pair of second operating positions mechanically couples the operator to the transfer lever.
Abstract: A connector assembly for connecting a linearly shiftable cable to a lock structure includes a plastic housing which mounts a plastic lever, one arm of which is connected to the cable. The other leg of the lever has an abutment for engaging a release lever of the lock structure when the lever is rotated to operated position. A coil torsion spring surrounds a hub of the lever and has its legs engaging anchors on the arms of the lever. After the desired length of the cable is established and the cable secured to the one arm of the lever, installation of the connector assembly, the anchor of the one leg of the spring to the arm of the lever is broken so that the one leg of the spring can engage the housing and bias the lever to non-operated position.
Abstract: A modular occupant restraint system includes a container for the inflatable cushion and cover over the container, with the cover and container having split lines which separate their upper walls into outwardly and oppositely opening upper and lower pairs of flaps to permit deployment of the inflatable cushion. A switch assembly located between either or both pairs of flaps includes one or more membrane switches located between the flaps and respective keypads projecting outwardly of the cover flap for closing respective pairs of printed circuits on the upper and lower flexible members of the membrane switch to each other. The membrane switches are each connected across a mechanism to be operated and a source of power by flat conductors which extend outwardly of the module between the cover and container, preferably across the connected sides of the flaps.
Abstract: An operator control for vehicle components includes drive and driven members respectively operating a power actuator and a mechanical drive for moving a vehicle component between its operative positions. The drive and driven members move as a unit between operative positions of the driven member corresponding to the operative positions of the component. The drive member is uncoupled from the driven member at the operative positions of the latter for independent movement to its operative positions which also correspond to the operative positions of the component. The drive and driven members respectively operate the power actuator and the mechanical drive at their respective operative positions.

Abstract: A modular occupant restraint system includes a container for the folded cushion and a cover for the container. The container has lines of perforations which subdivide the walls thereof into two sets of flaps. One set of flaps permits deployment of the folded cushion along alternate paths laterally of the system and generally parallel to the driver's torso. The other set of flaps permits deployment of the cushion along the intended path toward the driver's torso. The cover has weakened lines which subdivide the cover into flaps generally coextensive with those of the container. The folded cushion has fan folded chordal portions which are located opposite the first set of flaps of the container to forcibly open such flaps.

Abstract: An actuating means for a vehicle body closure latch includes a driver or passenger controlled electric motor driving a reciprocable rack through a gear train. The rack is resiliently biased to a neutral position and shifts an actuator from neutral to an operating position when the rack is moved from the neutral position to a driving position. The actuator is engageable with a latch operator to control movement of the latch bolt to unlatched position when the actuator moves to an operating position. When the actuator reaches the operating position, the actuator is positively stopped to stall the motor or power operator. When the power is removed from the stalled motor or power operator by the driver or passenger releasing a switch, the bias of the resilient centering means returns the rack to its initial neutral or starting position and back drives the motor through the gear train.

Abstract: A vehicle closure latch includes a housing member provided with a slot opening to opposite sides thereof. A pair of latch bolt members are pivoted to the housing member within the slot in scissors fashion for movement inwardly and outwardly of the slot between latched and unlatched positions.
Abstract: A vehicle closure latch includes a latch bolt member which is rotatable through a limited arc between latchable and unlatched positions. The latch bolt member includes circumferentially spaced grooves which receive transversely movable striker members when in latchable position to retain the latch bolt against movement relative to the striker members.
Abstract: A closure latch control mechanism includes separately operable levers connected to inside and outside operating handles and to a coupling member for relatively shifting cable and sheath members connected to a cable operated closure latch. A locking lever controls the position of the coupling member to couple and uncouple this member and the cable and sheath members.
Abstract: A vehicle wheel cover includes a cover body having apertured flange portions arranged in diametrically opposite pairs. A leaf spring extends between each pair of apertured flange portions and includes shoulder means projecting radially outwardly of the flange portions for cooperative engagement with abutment means of a wheel opening. The leaf springs are in overcenter relationship to the cover body to provide a spring force resisting radial inward movement of the shoulder portions thereof.
Abstract: A horn blowing switch arrangement includes a supported mounted within the hub portion of a steering wheel and having a plurality of bolts, each of which supports a sleeve member. The bolts thread into an inflatable restraint module and springs between the support and the restraint module space the sleeves from the support. Depression of the restraint module engages the sleeve members with the support to complete a circuit across a source of power and blow the vehicle horn.
