  • Patent number: 6250257
Abstract: A once-through steam generator having a combustion chamber. A containing wall of the combustion chamber is formed from vertically disposed evaporator tubes welded to one another in a gas-tight manner. The combustion chamber is to be capable of being used safely and reliably in a pressure range of between about 200 bar and 221 bar, while, moreover, a particularly high efficiency is to be achieved. For this purpose, according to the invention, a mass flow density m of a flow medium has the following relationship m=200+8.42 ·1012·q3[d/(d−2s)]s2·Tmax−5 in the evaporator tubes. In this case, q is the heat flow density acting on the evaporator tubes, Tmax is an admissible maximum temperature characteristic of the tube material, d is the outside diameter of the evaporator tubes and s is the wall thickness of the evaporator tubes.

  • Patent number: 6250141
Abstract: A scanning device for semiconductor wafers with which rapid and dependable scanning is permitted. The invention is characterized by a base plate with a guiding pin protruding from it for the manual guidance of a depositing plate which is displaceable on the latter. The depositing plate is intended to receive a semiconductor wafer and is provided on an underside with meandering guiding channels for guiding by the guiding pin. A liquid drop is kept on a surface of the semiconductor wafer by a scanning tube and collects metal and dopant traces from the semiconductor wafer. The liquid drop can then be analyzed for determining a purity of the surface of the semiconductor wafer.

  • Patent number: 6252893
Abstract: At least one monitor laser having an associated monitor diode. The monitor diode is connected to an electronic circuit that controls the monitor laser, while correspondingly driving the semiconductor lasers in parallel, in such a way that an electrical signal from the monitor diode constantly has a preset value. This value and a nominal signal corresponding to the nominal value of the optical power of the monitor laser are used to form a correction variable. If a current flowing through a semiconductor laser exceeds the current through the monitor laser, weighted by the correction variable, then the power of the semiconductor laser is reduced. In this manner, the transmitting device is of simple construction and at the same time avoids unacceptably high powers in the semiconductor lasers.

  • Patent number: 6252945
Abstract: A method for recording a digitized audio signal and a telephone answering machine in which this method can be advantageously employed. A digitized audio signal is written in during a first time segment, and the written-in data are then stored in memory in a storage medium for digital data. After the first time segment, the writing in of the digital input signal is continued. The data now written in are compressed by a predetermined compression algorithm in accordance with a predetermined data compression rate. Finally, the thus-compressed data are stored in the storage medium for digital data. With the method, especially economical utilization of a limited memory storage volume is possible.

  • Patent number: 6250820
Abstract: A coupling component includes a first substrate with a first alignment device and a plurality of optical waveguides located in one plane. The first substrate is a molded synthetic material body. The optical waveguides have coupling-side end surfaces causing a beam deflection onto optically active surfaces of a multichannel electrooptical converter. A second substrate has a second alignment device tuned or matched to the first alignment device of the first substrate. The converter is positioned on the second substrate independently of the optical waveguides and precisely with respect to the second alignment device. The alignment devices are formed by corresponding oblique surfaces on both substrates. The oblique surfaces in one dimension extend parallel to the longitudinal axes of the optical waveguides and are located in planes which intersect the plane of the optical waveguides.

  • Patent number: 6248620
Abstract: A method for fabricating field effect-controlled semiconductor components, such as e.g. but not exclusively MIS power transistors. The field effect-controllable semiconductor component has a semiconductor substrate of a first conductivity type and a gate insulator layer on the surface of the semiconductor substrate. A well of a second conductivity type is produced in the semiconductor substrate by implanting first impurity atoms. A semiconductor layer having a first predetermined thickness is produced on the gate insulator layer prior to the production of the well. The semiconductor layer is reduced in a predtdermined region to obtain a residual layer having a second predetermined thickness, such that the semiconductor layer acts as an implantation barrier outside the predetermined region when the well is produced.

  • Patent number: 6245640
Abstract: An antireflection layer, preferably a dielectric antireflection layer, is applied by PECVD to a hard mask layer which is composed of doped silicon oxide, with no interruption of the vacuum. The silicon oxide layer is then patterned to form a hard mask and, by way of example, a deep trench etching is performed. The hard mask is removed using an HF/H2SO4 mixture or using an HF/ethylene glycol (EG) mixture at a high etching rate. If the HF/EG mixture is used, an intermediate layer that may be disposed underneath can simultaneously be etched back by a predetermined amount. The integration of two wet etching steps constitutes a major simplification compared with the previous wet etching methods in two different installations.

  • Patent number: 6246691
Abstract: A method and a circuit configuration for the transmission of message units in message streams of different priority include passing the message units which are respectively associated with the message streams through a queue that is specific to the message stream. The queues are combined to form groups to ensure a throughput guarantee for the message streams in addition to observing the priorities. At least two of the groups in each case are combined to form a partner group. The groups which belong to a partner group are controlled in such a manner that, in the case where no message unit can currently be transmitted from one of the queue groups, the transmission capability is transferred from the relevant queue group to one of the remaining groups in the respective partner group.
