Abstract: An improved boat anchor assembly including an anchor shank having a fluke pivotally connected thereto and supported for angular displacement about an axis normally related to the longitudinal axis of the shank, motion limiting stops mounted on the shank for arresting pivotal motion of the flukes relative the shank, the shank being provided with a pivotal coupling interposed between the ends thereof and pins for imparting stability to the shank and adapted to deform under angularly applied loads of predetermined magnitudes whereby the shank-fluke connection is permitted to "break" for facilitating recovery of the anchor.
Abstract: The disclosure is directed to thermoset resinous compositions having utility in the area of surface coating and molding applications, the latter including the preparation of high performance composites and the use in reaction injection molding processes. The contemplated compositions are obtained by polymerizing a reaction mixture comprising a polyfunctional 2-oxazoline compound, a compound or oligomer containing a plurality of aromatic hydroxyl groups and a polyfunctional epoxide.
Abstract: Disclosed is an electric service entrance cable comprising parallel insulated conductors, helically covered by evenly distributed uninsulated conductors, covered by longitudinally wrapped polyester glassed-backed reinforcement tape bound by helically wrapped fiberglass strand and an outer covering.

Abstract: This invention is concerned with the treatment of particulate titanium dioxide and other pigments with a surfactant compound which serves to enhance its employment in pigmented and/or filled paints and plastics, paper making compositions and in reinforced plastic composite compositions.
Abstract: A method is provided for optimally operating a wheel-type continuous caster such that solidification porosity and macrosegregation in the continuous strand thus produced is substantially minimized while casting speed is substantially maximized subject to that condition. Continuous casting is adjusted from an operational condition where solidification porosity is forming by changing the solidification rate so as to cause the terminus of the solidification zone to shift location in the direction of increasing metalostatic pressure until the point where solidification porosity ceases to form or its occurrence is minimized; further provided that in the vicinity of the solidification terminus the direction of increasing metalostatic pressure is maintained counter to the direction of casting.
Abstract: A method of continuously casting a molten ferrous alloy in a casting means to obtain a solidifed cast bar at a hot-forming temperature, passing the cast bar at a hot-forming temperature from the casting means to a hot forming means, and hot forming the cast bar into a wrought product by a two-stage reduction of its cross-sectional area while it is still at a hot-forming temperature, including, in the first stage, the step of forming a substantially uniform fine grained, equiaxed or cell structure in the outer surface layers of the cast bar by a selected small amount of deformation of the cast bar in its as-cast condition prior to the second stage in which substantial reduction of its cross-sectional area forms the wrought product.
Abstract: An improved apparatus and method for the recycling accumulation of at least one moving continuous band in a continuous molten metal casting machine of the type having continuously advancing mold parts, at least one of which is formed by said band and wherein at a station located in a spaced relationship to said casting machine, the elongated continuous band, belt, or strip is accumulated from the mold end and simultaneously fed out or supplied to the mold beginning. In combination therewith are the use of means to properly tension said band or bands, and means to join the ends thereof to new lengths of band, belt, or strip so as to connect a substantially unlimited number of individual elongated belts to the one in use.
Abstract: Disclosed are method of and apparatus for continuously casting a compound metal bar, the bar comprising a core member encased in a clad member which in combination form a unitary metal matrix. Said compound metal bar is cast by continuously pouring a first molten metal into a casting mold and discharging a second molten metal beneath the surface of the first molten metal beneath the surface of the first molten metal and continuously solidifying both molten metals to form said compound metal bar.

Abstract: A quick adjusting square wire or rectangular wire rolling mill comprising segmented work rolls and a connection between at least one segments on each roll for adjusting positions of said segments, and method of adjusting the roll pass of a square wire or rectangular wire rolling mill without replacing work rolls.
Abstract: A sight glass assembly (10), especially adapted for use with continuous vulcanizing lines and the like wherein visual or optical access is required, constructed so as to provide self-sealing action during assembly and continuously self-cleaning action during use. A chamber (19) having an exit flow aperture (25) adjacent the viewing element (14) is subjected to a pressurized fluid or gas flow, which is discharged across the inner face of the viewing element. The pressurized fluid or gas is supplied externally through a passageway communicating (16) with the chamber.
Abstract: Casting band heater for molten metal continuous casting apparatus, wherein a casting band forming one of the mold surfaces is preheated to improve the operational life of the casting band. The apparatus also assures a dry band to avoid steam explosions and gas entrapments. The band heater includes an efficient burner and a band enclosure which can be opened for band changes.
Abstract: Apparatus for and method of removing insulation from strands of multiplex cable in a single operation by unplexing multiplex cable, removing insulation and replexing bare multiplex cable in a single operation, and the uninsulated product thereof.
Abstract: In an in-line refining vessel (50) having one or more submerged porous plugs (20) for bubbling gasses through the molten metal (47) to stir the slag layer (46) covering same, an oxygen lance (40) for effectively oxygenating the melt from above. A plurality of such devices may be used in a single vessel.
Abstract: A molten metal filter effectiveness indicator comprising means for detecting the molten metal level on at least one side of a molten metal filter, and method.
Abstract: Apparatus and method for hot rolling metal between a plurality of roll stands having work rolls with nonpolar surfaces lubricated by a nonpolar lubricant.
Abstract: Apparatus and method for detecting and locating insulation faults in lengths of electrical conductive cable and plexing those lengths of cable into multiplex cable in one operation, wherein the multiplex cable includes either a bare cable and a plurality of insulated cables stranded together or a plurality of insulated cables stranded together.
