Patent number: 4290560Abstract: A machine for grinding nuts, more particularly peanuts and for making pure peanut butter. A hopper is provided for the peanuts. The peanuts are delivered to grinding discs, one of which is rotated. The peanuts are delivered through a tubular passageway having in it a member with a helical rib for forcibly delivering the peanuts to the grinding means. The ground material, namely, the peanut butter, after passing the grinding means is delivered into a removable cup. Heat is applied automatically to provide temperature for proper operation of the machine. Preferably, the machine is automatic and is coin operated.Type: GrantFiled: August 27, 1979Date of Patent: September 22, 1981Inventor: Victo V. Tabah

Patent number: 4276520Abstract: A device for producing a laser beam or discharge. The device is constructed to be portable having a pistol grip. The laser beam is generated in the body or barrel of the device. A neodymium (Nd:YAG) rod or similar material is within a xenon flash tube to which a voltage is applied. A photon emission source is provided at one end of the (Nd:YAG) rod embodying a diode and a parabolic reflector system associated with a polarized mirror which is partly reflective and which in part transmits energy rays. A polarized optical mirror is provided at the opposite end of the (Nd:YAG) rod. Activation of atoms within the rod is initiated within the contents of an optical or resonant cavity providing a means by which the necessary excitation of atoms within the optical active (Nd:YAG) rod can be achieved in order to initiate an elevation in population and subsequent inversion of levels, near and over the threshold value necessary to generate a laser beam and the subsequent discharge of said beam.Type: GrantFiled: March 12, 1979Date of Patent: June 30, 1981Inventor: Larry Rosenberg

Patent number: 4268805Abstract: A circuit for coupling a citizens band transceiver and a broadcast band receiver to a standard automobile antenna. The circuit is comprised of an impedance transforming network connected in series with the standard automobile antenna and a parallel-tuned circuit in series with the broadcast band receiver. The series-tuned network is comprised of a split capacitance for stepping the impedance down from the citizens band transceiver to the lower impedance of a standard automobile antenna. The series-tuned circuit also includes a tuning coil for matching the output of the network to the particular automobile antenna. In series between the automobile antenna and the broadcast band receiver is a parallel-tuned circuit comprised of a capacitor and a tuning coil. To prevent multiplication and excessive voltages in the event the broadcast band receiver should become disconnected, a limiting resistor connects the parallel-tuned circuit to ground.Type: GrantFiled: September 20, 1976Date of Patent: May 19, 1981Assignee: Tanner Electronic Systems Technology, Inc.Inventors: James L. Patent number: 4189757Abstract: A system for reading back data recorded as series of discrete regions of magnetization and including synchronizing data, in a magnetic medium, comprises a readback device generating read data pulses, the system further including a clock pulse generator comprising a clock pulse oscillator and circuitry for providing a Gray code signal at the output of the clock pulse generator. Read data pulse recording cicuitry connected to the readback device is responsive to data pulses and generates an output signal corresponding to the time of arrival of data pulses. An exclusive OR gate compares the output fom the clock pulse generator and the read data pulse circuitry, the output of the exclusive OR gate being connected to a negative AND gate, thereby providing a system clock based upon the clock pulse arriving at the OR gate nearest in time to a data pulse.Type: GrantFiled: June 5, 1978Date of Patent: February 19, 1980Inventor: George H. Kunstadt

Patent number: 4078469Abstract: Display means for electronically generating a visual display of the frequency difference between two frequencies, adaptable for the tuning of musical instruments. In the exemplary body of said adaptation the note from the instrument is picked up through a microphone and fed through electronic means for isolating the fundamental frequency; the frequency and a reference frequency generated by a reference frequency synthesizer are fed into said display means which generates a visual display of the frequency difference between said fundamental frequency and said reference frequency.Type: GrantFiled: March 19, 1976Date of Patent: March 14, 1978Inventor: Noel Morgen Calvin

Patent number: 4066149Abstract: An energy absorbing device which includes at least two concentrically arranged tubular elements which may be subjected to telescopic relative motion by the application of force to the opposite ends thereof. An annular space formed between the tubular elements may be provided with an helical coil so arranged therein that each turn of the coil comprises an arcuate body which is subjected to cyclic plastic deformation in tension and compression by rotation when relative movement occurs between the tubular members. A rod or bar may be fixed between the ends of the tubular member to prevent the relative telescopic movement until a predetermined force has been exerted on the energy absorbing device. An area of deliberate weakness may be formed in the rod or bar to insure that the bar will break when the predetermined force is applied to the device.Type: GrantFiled: September 13, 1976Date of Patent: January 3, 1978Assignee: ARA, IncorporatedInventor: Bernard Mazelsky

Patent number: 4065986Abstract: A body is provided forming a handle. A pair of complementary jaw members fit within the body and move longitudinally therein. The jaw members are configurated at their outer ends so as to be complementary and together to form a nut engaging configuration. Cam surfaces are provided on the insides of the body in a position to engage surfaces of the jaw members for camming them toward each other when a nut is engaged by the jaw members and a force is applied in a direction toward the nut. The jaw members move inwardly with respect to the body and are cammed towards each other to tightly engage and hold the nut. Preferably, the jaw members are pivoted together within the body and a spring is provided to normally urged them outwardly.Type: GrantFiled: March 19, 1976Date of Patent: January 3, 1978Inventors: Daniel H. Meggs, Janos Beny

Patent number: 3990717Abstract: A collapsible vehicle which in the exemplary form is a two wheeled vehicle driven by pedals and a sprocket chain. The frame is articulated with joints between frame members, permitting collapsing of the frame members into a substantially parallel relationship in the plane of the frame. Further joints allow collapsing of the frame members in a direction normal to the plane of the frame and into a position with the two wheels opposite each other on opposite sides of the frame members. The frame members include collapsible handlebars, steering column, and seat supporting members.Type: GrantFiled: September 12, 1975Date of Patent: November 9, 1976Inventor: Melvin H. M. Best
