  • Patent number: 6996995
Abstract: The present invention provides a system for freezing, thawing, and storing biopharmaceutical materials which includes a flexible container, a conduit, and a temperature control unit. The flexible container is adapted to receive a biopharmaceutical material therein for freezing, thawing, and storing. The container is formed of a first substantially flat sheet of flexible material joined together by a seam with a second substantially flat sheet of flexible material so as to lie substantially flat when empty. The container fully encloses an interior portion for receiving the biopharmaceutical material. Also, the container is configured to form a three dimensional shape when filled with the biopharmaceutical material, wherein the three dimensional shape has a first side and a second side opposite the first side. The conduit is connected to the flexible container with the outside of the container being in fluid communication with the interior portion via the conduit.

  • Patent number: 6997641
Abstract: A road milling machine has a driver's cab equipped with a floor plate and a steering gear mounted on the chassis of the road milling machine. The steering gear includes a console, on which a steering wheel is positioned. One end the console is fastened laterally to the chassis, while the other end of the console is not attached to anything. The console extends over the floor plate, forming an opening between the floor plate and the console on a side. Since this opening is below the console, it is possible for the operator to observe the road surface without having to lean to the side, as is necessary with conventional road milling machines, in which the side of the chassis on which the console is positioned blocks the view.

  • Patent number: 6999973
Abstract: An information gathering facility is provided which includes a dictionary file data structure having a plurality of inquiries for ascertaining state information on a computer system. The plurality of inquiries are organized into at least one subject group having multiple records of inquiry. These multiple records of inquiry are processed such that if a condition of one record is satisfied then processing terminates for the group, otherwise processing proceeds to a next record and continues until a condition of one of the records of the group is satisfied or until all records have been processed. One or more of the plurality of inquiries comprise instructions which output a result when a condition of the instruction is satisfied. Thus, the state information to be output is defined by the results contained within the instructions of the dictionary file itself.

  • Patent number: 6996186
Abstract: A technique is provided for programmably horizontally filtering pixel values of frames of a plurality of video frames. The technique includes, in one embodiment, passing pixel values through a real-time horizontal filter disposed as preprocessing logic of a video encode system. The horizontal filter is programmable and includes a filter coefficients buffer for holding multiple sets of filter coefficients. The horizontal filter programmably employs the multiple sets of filter coefficients to selectively perform spatial noise filtering, or spatial noise filtering and image scaling on the pixels. The filter coefficients are also programmable and may be changed dynamically and repeatedly, with changes being applied at frame boundaries. When performing image scaling, multiple sets of filter coefficients are employed.

  • Patent number: 6996174
Abstract: A digital video decoder system, method and article of manufacture are provided having integrated scaling capabilities for presentation of video in full size or a predetermined reduced size, while at the same time allowing for reduced external memory requirements for frame buffer storage. The integrated system utilizes an existing decimation unit to scale the decoded stream of video data when the system is in scaled video mode. Display mode switch logic oversees switching between normal video mode and scaled video mode, wherein the switching occurs without perceptual degradation of a display of the decoded stream of video data. Scaled decoded video frames are buffered in a frame buffer which is partitioned depending upon whether the digital video decoding system is in normal video mode or scaled video mode. In scaled video mode, the frame buffer accommodates both full size I and P frames, as well as scaled I, P & B frames.

  • Patent number: 6994247
Abstract: A waste storage device includes an inlet aperture and a length of flexible tubing passing through the inlet aperture from a cassette. The flexible tubing is pinched by a pair of rollers which can have continuous surfaces or multiple paddles. The waste product is placed into the aperture and the rollers rotate drawing the waste product down into the device and pinching the storage bag above it. The operation can be manually or motor driven.

  • Patent number: 6996625
Abstract: Techniques for arranging operations performable on information in an information processing system are provided. In a system having a plurality of information producers and a plurality of information subscribers, paths are identified over which information traverses, and within which the information is subject to select and/or transform operations. The present invention optimizes the system by reorganizing the sequence of select and transform operations so that transforms follow select operations; and by combining multiple select and transform operations into single select and transform operations, respectively. Using these optimizations, the processing resources of the system can be reorganized, and/or information flow graphs describing the system can be designed, so that the select operations are “pushed” toward the producers, and transform operations are “pushed” toward the subscribers. Efficient content-based routing systems can then be used to implement the select operations.

  • Patent number: 6996101
Abstract: Method, system and computer products are provided for re-mapping and interleaving transport packets of multiple transport streams for processing by a single transport demultiplexor. The re-mapping and interleaving technique ensures unique identification of transport packets associated with multiple transport streams to be multiplexed onto a transport channel for demultiplexing by a single transport demultiplexor. At least one PID re-map table is employed having re-map values indexed by n possible PID values of transport packets associated with at one transport stream of the multiple transport streams. The n possible PID values is less than or equal to the number of PID values which can be handled by the single transport demultiplexor, and is less than all possible PID values of transport packets within the multiple transport streams.

  • Patent number: 6996638
Abstract: An input/output subsystem is configured as a plurality of input/output subsystem images, each of which appears to a program as an independent input/output subsystem. An input/output subsystem image is identified by an input/output subsystem image identifier, which is used by various programs to designate the particular input/output subsystem image for which an I/O operation is to be performed. An operating system is provided with access to a plurality of input/output subsystem images of the input/output subsystem. One or more controls are provided to the operating system image to enable the operating system image to access the plurality of input/output subsystem images.

  • Patent number: 6996698
Abstract: Processing restrictions of a computing environment are filtered and blocked, in certain circumstances, such that processing continues despite the restrictions. One restriction includes an indication that fetching of storage keys is prohibited, in response to a buffer miss. When a processing unit of the computing environment is met with this restriction, it performs a comparison of addresses, which indicates whether the fetching can continue. If fetching can continue, the restriction is ignored.

  • Patent number: 6993078
Abstract: A technique for encoding macroblocks of a frame is provided which includes switching a coding decision for a macroblock from a non-intra decision to a skip macroblock decision when the absolute prediction error for the macroblock is less than a prediction error threshold and the magnitude of the motion vector for the at least one macroblock is less than a motion vector threshold. In one embodiment, the prediction error threshold is multiple programmable prediction error thresholds, which are for comparison with the absolute luminance and chrominance summation components and the maximum luminance and chrominance difference values. The motion vector threshold may be a preset value when the macroblock is to be predictive coded, and may be the magnitude of the motion vector of the previous macroblock when the macroblock is to be bi-directionally encoded.
