Abstract: A session-level cache provides space to reuse a task object and associated memory resources for a new request. Any additional resources necessary for the task are allocated by the system memory allocator.
Abstract: A voltage mirror circuit using a symmetrically matched transistor structure is provided. The circuit includes an input reference voltage node on a first side of said circuit and an output mirror voltage node on a second side of said circuit, and a plurality of matched transistor pairs wherein the transistors in each pair have the same aspect ratio and wherein one transistor in each pair is provided on the first side of the circuit and the second transistor in each pair is provided on the second side of said circuit. The transistor pairs may include pairs of NMOS transistors and pairs of PMOS transistors or pairs of bipolar npn transistors and pairs of bipolar pnp transistors.

Abstract: Data is written to and read from a shared pipe by applications of multiple systems. At least one shared pipe is located within an external shared memory coupled to one or more central processing complexes. Each of the central processing complexes has one or more operating system images, which controls execution of one or more piping applications. At least one piping application corresponding to at least one operating system image writes data to a shared pipe located in the external shared memory and at least one other application corresponding to one or more other operating system images reads data from the same shared pipe, thereby providing cross-system data piping.

Abstract: A load controller and method are provided for maximizing effective capacity of a non-controllable, renewable power supply coupled to a variable electrical load also coupled to a conventional power grid. Effective capacity is enhanced by monitoring power output of the renewable supply and loading, and comparing the loading against the power output and a load adjustment threshold determined from an expected peak loading. A value for a load adjustment parameter is calculated by subtracting the renewable supply output and the load adjustment parameter from the current load. This value is then employed to control the variable load in an amount proportional to the value of the load control parameter when the parameter is within a predefined range. By so controlling the load, the effective capacity of the non-controllable, renewable power supply is increased without any attempt at operational feedback control of the renewable supply.

Abstract: A liquid filtration device useable for removing leukocytes from blood contains a first chamber which is in fluid flow relationship with a second chamber. Filtration elements separate the first chamber from the second chamber so that liquid flowing from the first chamber is filtered thereby prior to entry into the second chamber. A passage leads from the second chamber into the first chamber and a hydrophobic filter may be used to prevent liquid from the first chamber from flowing through the passage into the second chamber while allowing air to flow therethrough. An outlet is located in the second chamber, preferably at the bottom thereof. A second outlet may be located within the second chamber and may be placed in fluid flow relationship therewith by a conduit or the like.
Abstract: A method of setting the contrast of a color video picture generated on a screen of a video display device from a developed photographic film image to achieve a match in visual appearance between the color video picture and an illuminated reference print of the image involves the automatic and interactive development of contrast table output values for each of three different colors in shadow and highlight regions. A base contrast table, the input value and base output value of an inflection point, and default values of user selectable contrast settings for the shadow region and highlight region for each of the three colors is stored in a computer memory and used to generate initial output values of the contrast table. The stored base contrast table, and the input value and base output value of the inflection point, in conjunction with user selected new contrast settings are employed to automatically develop new contrast table output values.
