Patent number: 8235544Abstract: The present solar light assembly uses a unique housing having a light that can be adjustably rotated and tilted for park and street lighting applications. Once assembled, the housing is covered by a solar panel that charges a remotely located battery and acts as a protective lid over the housing. Rather than removing the solar panel to access the contents of the housing, the housing can be accessed by excessively tilting the light until a shroud swings away from an opening in the housing designed to accommodate the light. The shroud, which can retract into the housing, protects the contents of the housing from inclement weather and from view. When the light is excessively tilted, the shroud swings away from the housing to expose wires, electronics and other contents of the housing that may require servicing.Type: GrantFiled: June 26, 2010Date of Patent: August 7, 2012Inventor: Sivert G. Fogerlie

Patent number: 8096439Abstract: A rechargeable battery, such as a 12 Volt battery that is recharged by a solar panel, is placed into a container system that includes an enclosure, having a top portion that is open and a bottom portion that is open, that is substantially buried underground. A sleeve, having a bottom portion that is open and a top portion that is closed, is lowered into the enclosure such that air is trapped inside the top portion of the sleeve when water collects against the enclosure. The trapped air prevents flood water from rising high enough to contact terminals of the battery. When flood conditions subside, the water drains out the bottom portion of the container system into the ground. Additionally, a ridge around the bottom of the sleeve makes it easier to insert the sleeve into the enclosure because the ridge slides over the dirt and debris, but the ridge scrapes and removes unwanted dirt and debris from the enclosure whenever the sleeve is removed to access the battery.Type: GrantFiled: October 2, 2007Date of Patent: January 17, 2012Inventor: Sivert G. Patent number: 7548724Abstract: The present invention is a method and apparatus that allows a menu 20 of song titles 22 to be displayed on printed pages 24, rather than on small song cards, that are held by page frames 30 that are hingedly joined to a juke box unit. The printed pages can be changed by positioning a page frame under a hatch, which is an opening 50 that preferably includes a lid 52, and slipping different pages in an out through a thin slot 32 on the top of a page frame. The front of the juke box housing 10 has a hollow 58 that a user can fit their fingers into to manipulate flipping handles 56 that are fixed to the page frames such that the user can turn and position the printed pages for either changing out the printed pages or for browsing the menu of song titles.Type: GrantFiled: August 30, 2005Date of Patent: June 16, 2009Assignee: Tyrell CorporationInventors: John Robert Berkheimer, Miles Martin Elmers, II

Patent number: 7460443Abstract: The present invention is a folder indexing method that defines a format for storage and playback of digital audio files to support a specialized song selection access method. Access codes used to select media files for playback of music in a digital audio player, such as a juke box, are entered using track selection keys bearing the characters associated with the various access codes. At the software level, the track selection keys are assigned index values. Index values are used to locate a selected individual folder, but each individual folder uniquely stores only one media file. Preferably, folder names are only used for the purpose of alpha sorting folders so that index values can be used to count to a selected folder rather than searching for a term in a folder name. Multiple folder levels can be located using this method, but only the last folder level contains media files.Type: GrantFiled: September 17, 2005Date of Patent: December 2, 2008Assignee: Tyrell CorporationInventors: Miles Martin Elmers, II, John Robert Berkheimer

Patent number: 7304482Abstract: A method for measuring and characterizing the nonlinearities of a display device by adaptive bisection using human perception for measurement. This method makes no assumptions about a display device's characteristics and can characterize any type of display device with any arbitrarily complex monotonic display transfer function. Unlike other display measurement solutions, this process is completely software based and has no hardware measurement device requirements that would raise costs and limit portability. As a result, this process can be distributed and applied commercially at a very low cost.Type: GrantFiled: December 4, 2003Date of Patent: December 4, 2007Inventors: Robert L. Patent number: 7152918Abstract: A furniture unit for supporting the weight of a child in various selectable seated positions may be rotated as a unit about a horizontal axis to present any one of three available occupant supporting surfaces. The primary occupant supporting surface is a child's high chair, preferably having a fixed tray. When tipped backward from the high chair position, the unit presents a previously inaccessible chair which is convexed on its lower surface to permit it to sway back and forth as a rocker. Alternatively, the unit may be tipped forward from the high chair position to present a previously inaccessible desk chair, with desktop, that is uniquely spaced from the floor by the fixed tray. The unit will most preferably slide up to a dining table while in the high chair position such that the fixed tray may be positioned just over the surface of the dining table.Type: GrantFiled: February 24, 2005Date of Patent: December 26, 2006Inventor: Thomas Berkes
