Abstract: Provided is a method of detecting the presence and quantitating the amount of glycogen from a biological sample. This method employs PAS staining with detection in the infrared range.
Abstract: The present invention provides a process for making an edible film having a substantially uniform distribution of components, which includes the steps of combining a water-based film polymer solution and a slurry-type mixture comprising a water-active component and a solvent; mixing the polymer solution and slurry-type mixture for about 10 minutes or less; dispensing the mixed solution and slurry-type mixture to form a film; and drying the film to evaporate the water and solvent. Films made by the process are also provided.
Abstract: Method for recognizing similarly recurring patterns of notes in a piece of music containing note sequences distributed among parallel channels, the method having the steps of: a) repeatedly segmenting each channel and, for each type of segmentation, determining segments which are similar to one another and storing the latter in lists of candidate patterns with the respective entities thereof; b) calculating an intrinsic similarity value for each list; c) calculating coincidence values for each list for each channel with respect to the lists for all other channels; and d) combining the intrinsic similarity and coincidence values for each list to form a total value for each list, and using the pattern candidates in the lists with the highest total value in each channel as recognized note patterns in the channel.

A crystallized glass substrate for information recording medium, consisting of a crystallized glass which comprises one or more selected from RAl2O4 and R2TiO4 as a main crystal phase, in which R is one or more selected from Zn, Mg and Fe, and in which the main crystal phase has a crystal grain size in a range of from 0.5 nm to 20 nm, a degree of crystallinity of 15% or less, and a specific gravity of 3.00 or less.
Abstract: A frequency manipulator comprises a frequency transformer and a frequency retransformer. The frequency transformer receives each of at least one signal in a known band from at least one transmitter, transforms the known band of each signal into a predetermined band and forwards each signal in the predetermined band to a channel device. The frequency retransformer receives each signal from the channel device, retransforms the predetermined band of each signal to the known band and forwards each signal in the known band to at least one receiver.
Abstract: Accordingly, the current invention provides a method for the manufacture of a mixture of a furfural and a 5-(alkoxymethyl)furfural derivative by reacting a C5 and C6 sugar-containing starting material with an alcohol in the presence of an acid catalyst, followed by the hydrogenation and/or etherification of the mixture of furfural and 5-(alkoxymethyl)furfural to convert the aldehyde function of both 5-(alkoxymethyl)furfural and furfural into an alkoxymethyl function or methyl function.

Abstract: A while-in use weatherproof cover for an electrical box that includes a faceplate, a base plate and a perimetrical side wall. The base plate has an opening adapted to receive an electrical device and one or more apertures for securing the cover to the device and/or electrical box. The perimeter side wall is flexible and extends from the face plate to the base plate so that the faceplate, the base plate and the side wall define an interior. The faceplate has an opening fitted with a door that is operated by compressing the side wall. The door is movable between an open position, which allows access to the interior, and a closed position, which restricts access to the interior.

Abstract: Disclosed is a resin composition having an excellent balance between shortness of curing time and longness of pot life. The resin composition contains (A) an organopolysiloxane having an alkenyl group, (B) an organopolysiloxane having a silicon atom-bonded hydrogen atom, (C) a hydrosilylation catalyst, (D) a silane coupling agent and (E) an unsaturated dicarboxylic acid ester. The component (B) contains (B-1) an organopolysiloxane having a molecular weight of not less than 5,000 but not more than 50,000 and (B-2) an organopolysiloxane having a molecular weight of not less than 100 but not more than 5,000, and the ratio of (B-2) to (B-1) is preferably not less than 0.01% by mass but not more than 20% by mass.
