Abstract: A remote cannulation assembly is disclosed for rapidly cannulating a body part such as a heart during a medical procedure. Cannulation is often conducted in procedures such as the installation of a ventricular assist device. The cannulation assembly of the invention utilizes an isolation valve to create a sealed fluid environment for the procedure. The invention further includes a coring assembly that may be used with the cannulation apparatus. Methods of cannulating a heart or other body part are also disclosed in which the risk of emboli is reduced. Additionally, methods of connecting and disconnecting two fluid conducting elements are disclosed.

Abstract: In one embodiment, apparatus for transmitting and receiving data includes a transmission line network having at least three input/output terminals; at least three transmit/receive units, respectively coupled to the at least three input/output terminals; and a control system. The control system is configured to, depending on a desired direction of data flow over the transmission line network, i) dynamically place each of the transmit/receive units in a transmit mode or a receive mode, and ii) dynamically enable and disable an active termination of each transmit/receive unit. Methods for using this and other related apparatus to transmit and receive data over a transmission line network are also disclosed.

Abstract: An orientation-based wireless sensor includes a transmitter unit having a body housing a microprocessor, a transmitter, and an accelerometer for detecting the orientation of the transmitter unit relative to one-, two- or three-axis of the direction of the pull of earth's gravity. The transmitter body is mounted on a feature of a vehicle that it is desirable to monitor. The transmitter will transmit orientation data at predetermined time intervals to a receiver on the vehicle, which will in turn process the information, adding additional information, such as GPS location, and wirelessly send the data to a database that is available to a customer over the Internet.

Abstract: A method for installing an auxiliary ring around a shaft. The method comprises providing an auxiliary ring comprising a plurality of ring elements, wherein each ring element includes at least one radial joint. Each ring element is installed around the shaft and positioned such that the radial joint of at least one of the ring elements is rotationally offset from the radial joint of each adjacent ring element. The plurality of ring elements are then secured to each other by adhesive, welding, or a fastener. Each ring element may include an aperture wherein the aperture of each ring element is aligned with the aperture of each adjacent ring element.

Abstract: A corrosion protection composition includes a mixture of three different silanes selected to interact and form a coating on metal substrates that has improved adhesion and durability as well as UV protection properties. Methods of manufacturing the corrosion protection composition include mixing the silanes together and further combining the silane mixture with other mixtures to arrive at the corrosion protection composition. Sonication may be a preferred manner of mixing together the various components of the mixtures.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention are directed to ablation catheter systems configured, for example, to ablate tissue adjacent an ostium of the pulmonary vein in a left atria of a heart. In one embodiment, an ablation catheter system includes a handle including an actuator and a catheter coupled to the handle defining a lumen extending through a length of the catheter, the catheter including a tip portion at a distal end thereof. The ablation catheter system may also include an electrode coupled to the handle with lines extending through the lumen of the catheter, the electrode being configured to be constrained within the tip portion of the catheter and configured to be deployed from the tip portion and self expand to an expanded configuration. With this arrangement, the electrode is configured to self expand to a conical configuration with a tip portion configured to be disposed within the pulmonary vein.

Abstract: A probe head for a microelectronic contactor assembly includes a space transformer substrate and a probe contactor substrate. Surface mount technology (SMT) electronic components are positioned close to conductive elements on the probe contactor substrate by placing the SMT electronic components in cavities in the probe contactor substrate, which cavities may be through-hole or non-through-hole cavities. In some cases, the SMT electronic components may be placed on pedestal substrates. SMT electronic components may also be positioned between the probe contactor and space transformer substrates.

The ready-mix concrete including cement, air, water, sand and a remaining percent of virgin coarse recycled aggregate such that the coarse recycled aggregate combines to 100% of the required coarse aggregate.

Abstract: A trombone hand grip device comprising a bushing securable about the intersection of a trombone's first brace and slide tube with a hand grip removably attachable to the bushing. The bushing being comprised of two shells hingedly connected to each other. The hand grip includes a clamp that is adapted for removable attachment to the bushing and a hand receiver fastened to the clamp. The hand grip includes a flexible strap attached to the hand receiver for wrapping around a player's hand. The hand receiver includes a plurality of mounting holes through which the hand receiver is mounted to the clamp. The position of the hand grip is adjustable longitudinally along the direction of the trombone slide by selecting one of the mounting holes. The hand receiver includes radial arrays of rotational adjustment holes associated with each of the mounting holes, whereby the grip may be rotationally adjusted.

Abstract: An apparatus for washing an animal with a liquid, includes a container having an open upper end portion, opposite end walls, opposite side walls, and a bottom wall. At least one pair of ledges extends from the opposite side walls above the bottom wall. One or more platforms are each provided with widths that are shorter than the lengths of the platforms, wherein the platforms may be passed through the container to the bottom wall when the platforms are turned in one direction or supported by the pair of ledges when the platforms are turned ninety degrees. Multiple pairs of ledges may be provided for varied platform levels within the container.

Abstract: A medical system and device for use in delivering RF energy to a tissue opening and a method for determining an RF dose is disclosed. In one embodiment, the medical device includes an electrode or anchor and one or more devices, such as an impedance electrode, RF electrode and/or thermocouple. The electrode or anchor can be deployed from a delivery shaft inside the left atrium, for example, of a heart and substantially conform to the tissue proximate the tissue opening. Tissue characteristics, such as temperature and/or impedance, can be measured, before, during and after application of RF energy to the tissue, by one or more devices to determine an RF dose. After energy is applied to the tissue between the left and right electrodes, the left electrode can be removed from the left atrium by being received back into the delivery shaft and the delivery shaft thereafter removed from the opening.

Abstract: A lamp assembly manages thermal energy output from solid state lighting elements. An aspect of the present disclosure provides a lamp assembly that achieves enhanced cooling of light elements within the assembly. Enhanced cooling is achieved, in this aspect, by providing a lamp assembly including a heat sink having a plurality of thermo bosses protruding therefrom on a first side, and a plurality of heat sink fins on a second side. A printed circuit board is secured to the first side of the heat sink, and has a plurality of through holes that correspond to the size and locations of the thermo bosses, such that when the printed circuit board is secured to the heat sink, the thermo bosses extend into the through holes.

The method of generating contextualized live auction feeds comprises receiving context data from a user. The method further comprises utilizing the context data received from the user to search auctions. The minimally invasive tool includes a first sleeve having flexible tabs that couple to a housing and a second sleeve slidably engaged in the first sleeve. The second sleeve provides reinforcing such that the first and second sleeve provide counter torque for driving the pedicle screw.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and devices for the automated, community-based exchange of procurement documents. In some embodiments, there may be different sets of rules for each of a number of different communities of trading partners. Each set of rules may be made up of rules data for the automated exchange of procurement documents in respective communities. By way of example, a host trading partner may select the rules for exchange of procurement documents for a community. Invited trading partners may register for the community, and rules for the community may then be distributed to the registered trading partners.

Abstract: A bone plate assembly includes a plate, at least one bushing, and at least one bone screw. The bushing is positioned within a through hole of the plate. The bushing and screw are configured to engage each other to inhibit the screw from backing out. The screw includes a visual indicator surface that is visible to the operator during insertion of the screw through the bushing and plate. The bushing is configured to cover at least a portion of the visual indicator surface to show when the bushing and screw are properly engaged to inhibit backout of the screw.
