  • Patent number: 5267751
Abstract: A suspension system comprises front and rear cantilever spring arms. First end portions of the arms are fixed to a vehicle body. Second end portions of the arms extend toward a member for supporting a wheel. The second end portions are connected to each other by means of a curved section. The spring arms are formed integrally with the curved section through the medium of the matrix resin and the fibers so as to be V-shaped as viewed from above. A joint assembly is fixed to the curved section, and a hub carrier is mounted on the assembly.

  • Patent number: 5151711
Abstract: An automobile antenna of a rod shape comprises an antenna element and a hollow cylindrical member of a resin fitted on the circumference of the antenna element. The hollow cylindrical member includes a plurality of hollow cylindrical units that may be coupled together or may be spaced apart. The cylindrical member has a ridge or ridges in the form of a spiral or ring. The ridge functions to generate a turbulent flow of air when the automobile runs at a high speed, so that a whistling sound generated by the wind blow may be eliminated. The method of making an antenna uses two offset molds having a plurality of cavities by the provision of spaced apart partitions, which also support the antenna element. A molding material is supplied into the cavities so that the ridges-bearing cylindrical member and the antenna element may be fabricated as one unit.

  • Patent number: 4853909
Abstract: In a time-setting mechanism for an analog time-piece, when an operation member is moved in its axial direction, a pinion provided on the operation member is brought into mesh with a gear which is normally rotated in an interlocked relation to hands. When the operation member is turned in this state, the torque thereof is transmitted via the pinion and gear to the hands for time-setting. The pinion and gear are made of synthetic resins, and the pinion is made of a resin material having higher flexibility than the resin material of the gear.

  • Patent number: 4819432
Abstract: In an installation for harnessing thermal energy, in which in a first part of an operating cycle the working fluid is positively displaced out of a first chamber into a second chamber, in which a higher temperature prevails than in the first, and in a second part of the operating cycle working fluid is positively displaced from the second chamber back into the first chamber, wherein thermal energy is supplied to the working fluid on its passage from the first to the second chamber and removed from the working fluid on its passage from the second to the first chamber, the chambers are formed by variable-volume working chambers of piston machine units (10, 12, 14, 16) coupled with one another and operating out of phase with one another, which communicate with one another by fluid ducts (18, 20, 22, 24) in such a way that the working fluid is positively displaced out of a shrinking work chamber having a relatively high temperature through a first duct, into an expanding work chamber having a lower temperature, a

  • Patent number: 4166252
Abstract: A pair of elongated electrodes are located in a common plane, separated from each other by an elongated gap. A gaseous medium capable of being stimulated to emit radiation by laser action is located in the gap. A discharge between the electrodes is initiated at a predetermined position by a pumping means which also produces an electrical field which decreases uniformly and monotonically from said predetermined position as the distance from this position increases, such that the discharge formative lag time increases uniformly and monotonically from said predetermined position.
