  • Patent number: 5761780
Abstract: A body (1) is machined in order to form: an axial cavity (5) for the stone the cavity having an edge (1B) that can be pressed over in order to anchor the stone; a lip (1E) that forms an abutment surface (1F) for resting against the surface of the laminar support (3) around a hole (4) formed in the support; adjacent to the lip (1E), a bearing section (9) that widens out and bears against the edge of the hole (4) in the support; and an elastic projection (11, 11A) that is joined to and extends from the section (9) and that can pass into the hole (4) and then re-expand so as to bear against the edge of the hole.

  • Patent number: 5614267
Abstract: A method and a product are provided for improving the resistance to abrasion of a load-carrying surface of a conveyor belt formed of a cord-reinforced elastomer material selected from the group consisting of natural and synthetic rubber, the belt being adapted for use for conveying particulate ore or other particulate material having abrasive properties. The method employed comprises cleaning the surface of the conveyor belt prior to coating the same with an abrasion resistant coating. The conveyor belt is characterized by a distribution of pores in the surface to be coated. A flexible coating of a polymer selected from the group consisting of polyolefins and polyester elastomers is flame sprayed in the molten state onto the conveyor belt surface using a flame spray torch. The flame of the torch is spaced from the conveyor surface to avoid contacting of the flame with the surface being coated.

  • Patent number: 5540227
Abstract: An applicator device and procedure is disclosed directed to the controlled placement of a minute amount of fluorescein onto the cornea of a patient's eye. The fluorescein is used as a staining agent to permit applanation tonometric measurements. The fluorescein is applied with a disinfectant to the tonometer lens using a special applicator. The disinfectant evaporates leaving a thin film residue on the lens, which is subsequently redissolved in the tear film above the cornea. The foregoing procedure enhances the tonometer measurements while simplifying the process and reducing risk of infective contaminates from entering the eye region.

  • Patent number: 5379181
Abstract: A smoothing device for a power supply is provided comprising a rectifier for rectifying an output of an alternating current power supply and at least a pair of electrolytic capacitors for smoothing an output of said rectifier. The pair of electrolytic capacitors have a non-polarized structure in which a pair of electrode foils each having an oxide film on a surface are wound into a roll with a separator containing an electrolyte interposed therebetween. A pair of electrodes are connected to each of said pair of electrode foils. At least one of the pair of electrodes has a mark for distinguishing them from each other. The pair of electrolytic capacitors are so connected that magnetic fluxes generated by said electrode foils are cancelled with each other.

  • Patent number: RE34841
Abstract: There is disclosed a micro-cuvette unit comprising a plurality of components in the form of a matrix which is arranged so that the cuvettes may be handled as one unit. The structural body of the micro-cuvette unit comprises a rectangular frame which is designed so that a plurality of cuvette components may be fitted to the frame, one after another. Each cuvette component comprises a plurality of cuvettes arranged in the form of a line or matrix and connected to each other directly or by means of support discs. The frame part of the micro-cuvette unit is open in the middle, at least within the area covered by the cuvettes in the cuvette components. The frame part contains two opposite sides which are provided with connecting means for joining the cuvette components to the frame part.
