  • Patent number: 6299520
Abstract: A nonabsorbent, abrasive scrubbing pad, especially for domestic use in the kitchen or bathroom, comprising a nonwoven web of fibers in which the fibers have coated thereon a mixture of antimicrobial compounds. The antimicrobial compounds are dispersed in a coating material that is applied to the fibers and then cured to anchor the antimicrobial compounds in the coating and prevent their being leached. The coating preferably also has dispersed therein abrasive particles to provide an abrasive scrubbing pad.

  • Patent number: 6299065
Abstract: A digitizer/sequencer device (10) for the processing of scanner digital input data including bar code data is disclosed. The device is flexible and universal in nature in that it can provide inputs to both a fixed program decoder (20) for the decoding of the Universal Product Code (UPC) code as well as a programmable processor (26) which can decode UPC as well as a variety of many other bar codes. Further, the device can handle inputs from various types of scanners (11) include high-speed counter top, hand-held scanners and light pen scanners and magnetic card readers, which provide input data over a wide range of frequencies. A large number of individual frequencies are made available in the device. One of these frequencies may be optimally selected by the programmable processor (26) to provide an internal clock for the device and a clock frequency for the digitizer counters (S clock) and another of these frequencies may be selected to provide a clock frequency (M clock) for the hard wired decoder.

  • Patent number: 6299067
Abstract: A fully automatic bar code symbol reading system having an automatic (i.e., triggerless) portable bar code symbol reading device with an omnidirectional projection laser scanning engine mounted within the head portion of its hand-supportable housing, and an associated base unit positioned within the data transmission range thereof without a physical wiring connection thereto. The hand-supportable bar code symbol reading device produces a narrowly confined scanning volume for omnidirectional scanning of code symbols presented therein, while preventing unintentional scanning of code symbols on nearby objects located outside thereof.

  • Patent number: 6290131
Abstract: An enhanced scanner is equipped with a novel interfacing mechanism for communicating directly with a data communications network. This eliminates the requirement of using intelligent network interface devices to access data generated by any of a plurality of bar code scanners coupled to a communications network. This novel interfacing mechanism may include a program stored on a memory device within the scanner and executed by a scanner processing mechanism. The scanner processing mechanism is adapted to perform two functions—bar code scanning and network communications—thereby reducing the cost and complexity of a communications network that includes one or more bar code scanners coupled to a host device through the network.

  • Patent number: 6290619
Abstract: The present invention is a street hockey ball for use in games on hard surfaces. The ball has a core of a low rebound material, and a hard, tough covering material. This invention provides for the height of contact between the ball and the stick to approximate the height of contact between the hockey puck and the stick, and the weight of the ball is likewise designed to approximate a puck. In this way the ball of the present invention simulates the feel and action of a hockey puck, for example providing ice hockey players with a viable training device off the ice.

  • Patent number: 6278227
Abstract: A piezoelectric transformer (21) comprises a piezoelectric rectangular body (23) equally divided into first to fourth regions (A1, A2, A3, and A4) in a longitudinal direction. The first and the fourth regions (A1, A4) are provided with plane electrodes (24, 25, 26, and 27) as input electrodes and polarized in a thickness direction. Strip-like electrodes (30, 31) are formed at the boundary between the remaining second and third regions (A2, A3) as output electrodes. An AC input voltage having a frequency corresponding to a wavelength equal to a half of the length of the piezoelectric rectangular body is applied to the input electrodes to vibrate the piezoelectric plate in a two-wavelength resonance mode. A voltage produced by a piezoelectric effect in response to the vibration is extracted from an output terminal. The transformer is small in size, low in vibration rate and heat generation, and excellent in efficiency.

  • Patent number: 6270638
Abstract: A main heater consisting of first and second fever areas and auxiliary heater arranged on an insulator substrate to maintain a precise sensing temperature. Grounded first fever area is contiguous with second fever area and grounded auxiliary heater, with the resistance ratio of first fever area and second fever area identical to that of the third resistor and the second resistor in bridge circuit control. Pyro-sensor or limit current type oxygen sensor capable of maintaining a high temperature, for example 400° C., operates within the high temperature maintained by the main heater, and DC—DC converter for isolating a first power supply, which supplies electric power to the heater from second power supply. Leakage current of the insulator substrate will not be generated as the insulator substrate deteriorates, thereby protecting the sensor cell leakage current from the heater.

  • Patent number: 6267378
Abstract: A piece-bouncing game wherein each player seeks to propel a play piece to make it bounce on a playing surface and then travel in a trajectory which causes the piece to land on a flat platform. The player scores a point in the game only if the piece lands and remains on the platform. The game consists of a cylindrical dish having a flat base on which is anchored an array of plugs, the play pieces being mountable on the plugs. Each play piece is formed by a circular collar having a membrane lying across its central plane and provided with a center hole. In the storage mode of the game, in which the play pieces are stored within the dish, each plug is plugged into the center hole of the piece mounted thereon. In the active mode of the game, the pieces are taken off the plugs and the dish is inverted and placed on the playing surface whereby the base of the dish is then raised above the playing surface to serve as the platform.

  • Patent number: 6267804
Abstract: A wet gas stripper is provided for separating particulate matter entrained in a moving gas stream. The gas stripper includes a housing having a plurality of walls, and a gas inlet for receiving the moving gas stream into the housing and a gas outlet through which the moving gas stream is exhausted from the housing. A particulate collection area is formed at a base of the housing. A liquid spray element sprays a liquid against at least one of the walls of the housing above the particulate collection area to create a particulate-entraining mist. The mist defines a filtration medium for capturing the particulate matter entrained in the gas stream and carrying the particulate matter to the collection area for removal from the housing.

  • Patent number: 6269346
Abstract: A system and method for managing a plurality of stock option accounts each for a plurality of participants. The system invokes a particular option plan defined in the system that governs the transaction choices available to each participant. The governing option plans are defined by the sponsoring company in terms of grant, vest and expiration date for the option contracts, and are defined in the system via a database of option holding information for each participant and an axiomatic rule system defining the criteria under which a given participant can exercise given options under the particular plan. The system implements the plans for multiple client companies providing several distinct modes for option exercise by the participant.

  • Patent number: 6265839
Abstract: A drive system for transferring a work load suspended from a hoist from one work processing stage to another in a series of stages. Included in the system is an X-linear motor which causes the hoist to travel along a horizontal path running from stage to stage, and a Y-linear motor causing the hoist, when at a selected stage, to travel in a vertical path to lower the work load into the stage for processing and then raise the load so that it can travel to another stage. Power for the X-motor is supplied by an external source, but power for the Y-motor which is electromagnetically coupled to the X-motor is inductively derived from the X-motor, thereby obviating the need for a power cable for the Y-motor.

  • Patent number: 6261491
Abstract: A system for producing blocks of open-cell, flexible polyurethane foam material and for conditioning each freshly-manufactured block to impart thereto optimal flexible foam properties. The system includes means to pour the flowable constituent of the foam material to be manufactured into a production station at the inlet of a conveyor, the constituents interacting to create on the conveyor a block of open-cell flexible foam material which is then wrapped in a plastic film casing that exposes the leading and trailing end of the block so that the encased block is open ended. The conveyor transports the wrapped block toward the rear end of a gate in a conditioning station having a port therein whose front end is coupled by an air duct to a suction fan.
