  • Patent number: 6741249
Abstract: A method for generating subdivision surfaces in real-time for use in connection with computer graphics is provided. According to an exemplary embodiment of the method, face information and subdivision data for a subdivided face are generated. The subdivided face is made up of a number of subdivision surfaces. The face information and subdivision data for the subdivided face respectively include vertices and edges, which define the subdivided face. Furthermore, two bitflags are associated with each edge identified in the subdivision data for the subdivided face. One bitflag is used to identify whether the associated edge is being used for a second time and the other bitflag is used to indicate whether the associated edge is used twice. The subdivision data for the subdivided face is then used to generate subdivided and additional edges. Each edge identified by the subdivision data for the subdivided face is defined by a pair of subdivided edges.

  • Patent number: 6725031
Abstract: A method and system for rating a data communication session between a network and a wireless device is disclosed. According to an exemplary aspect of the method, the method monitors a series of events, namely, a setup event, a begin event and an end event, which take place during a communication session. The monitoring of such events is accomplished by a data rating application which resides on the wireless device. By monitoring such events, the data rating application is then able to rate the communication session using a number of rating methods. The rating method selected includes both how to meter the data transmitted during a data communication session and determine the rate to be applied to each metered increment. Examples of methods used to meter the data include time and volume. Different rating methods which can be used to rate the communication session include, for example, application, data utilization, source of data, data type, class of service, quality of service and transmission efficiency.

  • Patent number: 6625439
Abstract: A method facilitates provisioning of pre paid wireless services. Credit refresh operations involving a pre paid wireless communication device involve SMS messages transmitted to the device over the air. The device uses tariff tables to keep track of a call's impact on available credit. The tariff tables are updatable at the service provider's discretion using SMS messages.

  • Patent number: 6606566
Abstract: The present invention relates to a computer program product or code in memory for detecting and transmitting sensory data from a portable field device 10 to a processor 12 via a computer network 10 for analytic purposes. The product includes a code directed to capturing analyte data pertaining to an unknown analyte using a field device 10. The product further includes a code directed to encoding the captured analyte data and transmitting the encoded analyte data via a computer network 18 to a processor 12 for analysis. The product also includes a code directed to performing an analysis of the captured analyte data at a remote location by the processor 12 using data of known analytes retrieved from an electronic library 14. This code and others can be used with the present invention to perform the functionality described herein as well as others.

  • Patent number: 6580651
Abstract: A method for reducing power consumption during bit line selection in memory circuits is disclosed. According to an exemplary aspect of the method, two adjacent memory cell arrays in memory circuits generally share a row of bit-line sense amplifiers. These sense amplifiers are usually connected to a memory cell array via a number of switches. These switches specifically connect the bit lines of each of two adjacent memory cell arrays to the row of sense amplifiers. By controlling the switches, the row of sense amplifiers can be directed to serve either one of the two adjacent memory cell arrays. The switches may be connected to a bit line select control line.

  • Patent number: 6566971
Abstract: The present invention generally relates to voltage-controlled oscillators. More specifically, the present invention relates to method and circuitry for implementing a differentially tuned varactor-inductor oscillator. In one exemplary embodiment, the present invention includes an LC tank circuit having a couple of terminals, a first and second capacitors, and a first and second varactors. The first and second varactors are connected in series forming a first and a second node. The first capacitor connects the first node and one terminal of the LC tank circuit. The second capacitor connects the second node and the other terminal of the LC tank circuit. A pair of differential input control signals is applied across the first and the second varactors, respectively, to tune the LC tank circuit thereby generating an oscillator output.

  • Patent number: 6479851
Abstract: The present invention relates to an improved memory circuit with a divided bit-line, shared sense amplifier architecture. In a conventional divided bit-line, shared sense amplifier configuration, two adjacent memory sub-arrays are generally located between two banks of sense amplifiers and selected bit lines of the two adjacent memory sub-arrays are generally connected to metal lines with metal contacts to reduce capacitive loading. Under the present invention, some sense amplifiers from either banks of sense amplifiers are repositioned to the area between the two adjacent memory sub-arrays thereby permitting the repositioned sense amplifiers to be shared. As a result, any two adjacent memory sub-arrays share a bank of sense amplifiers. Furthermore, selected bit lines from the two adjacent memory sub-arrays are coupled to metal lines within the repositioned sense amplifiers.
