  • Patent number: 4090518
Abstract: An esophago-pharyngeal airway having at least one inflatable cuff for sealing the nasal passage by urging the soft palate against the posterior nasopharyngeal wall and sometimes another inflatable cuff engageable with the wall of the esophagus to prevent ventilation of the stomach and possible aspiration of the stomach's contents depending upon the selected use. Either or both of the cuffs may be continuously inflated during use of the airway or may automatically inflate and deflate with each respiratory cycle to insure non-traumatic extubation when a tracheal tube is substituted for the esophago-pharyngeal airway. An air tube extends through one of the cuffs and a gastro-esophagus tube extends through both of the cuffs.

  • Patent number: 4062233
Abstract: A dynamometer is provided having a housing mounted to allow at least partial rotational displacement about its longitudinal axis, with a frictional engaging means connected thereto for engaging the external surface of a rotatable drum. This drum, which is mounted within the housing, is coupled to the prime mover so that the power of the prime mover may be determined by measuring the torque transmitted via the engaging means to the housing. Coolant is circulated through the interior of the drum while the drum is rotating within the housing, thus providing a dynamometer which is not only accurate but is easily disassembled for maintenance. The dynamometer also includes a hydraulic brake mechanism which can be regulated without a variation in the flow rate of the working fluid.

  • Patent number: 4054375
Abstract: A rear view cycling mirror is disclosed comprising a case housing a mirror adapted to be strapped to the wrist of a cyclist or attached via a clip to the bicycle. The mirror is mounted on the inside face of the case cover which is hinged to the base of the case by a universal ball joint. This joint provides maximum adjustability to the cyclist. The strap or clip is inserted through a slot in a dropped portion of the base.

  • Patent number: 4042386
Abstract: A photopolymerizable composition and photosensitive elements produced therefrom are disclosed which include a monomer component, a polymer component and a polymerization initiator activatable by actinic light. The monomer component includes at least one water soluble monofunctional unsaturated ethylenic monomer, and at least one polyfunctional unsaturated ethylenic monomer. The polymer component includes a partially saponified, water-soluble, polyvinyl acetate which is compatible with said monomer components. The ratio, by weight, of polyfunctional monomer to monofunctional monomer is in the range of about 0.2 to about 0.6, and the ratio, by weight, of said monomer component to said polymer component is in the range of about 0.7 to about 1.2.

  • Patent number: 4028441
Abstract: A flow regulator is disclosed for controlling liquid flow, for example, from a supply source to a receiving tank according to the liquid level in the tank. Specifically, a fluid interaction device communicating with the receiving tank causes a fluid pressure signal to be developed in response to departure of the liquid in the tank from a predetermined level. A differential pressure responsive valve adjusts liquid flow from the supply source to the receiving tank in response to the fluid pressure signal. Several embodiments and other features including a bypass for enhancing stable flow and a preferred valve structure are disclosed.A beverage dispensing system incorporating the aforesaid flow regulator is also disclosed. A cold carbonated liquid is continually circulated past dispensers from a pressurized chill tank having a carbon dioxide atmosphere. The flow regulator admits further liquid to the system from a supply source whenever liquid is tapped from the system by the dispensers.

  • Patent number: 4013336
Abstract: A connector clip for releasably attaching a source of electrical current to a miniature internal combustion engine is disclosed wherein the two contacting surfaces of the connector clip are held firmly to the engine itself by a force which causes one contact to move substantially parallel to the other. The contacting surface of the connector clip which engages the tip of the glow plug of the engine is provided with a recess to receive the glow plug tip. In this manner, both electrical reliability and safety operation are improved.
