  • Patent number: 8287385
Abstract: In a game device (200), a storage unit (201) stores a position of a player character, a position of an enemy character, and candidate positions for new enemy character appearance. A measuring unit (202) measures an elapsed time from the start of the game. The calculating unit (203) calculates a reference distance for determining a position where the new enemy character is to be produced based on the elapsed time measured by the measuring unit (202). The reference distance monotonically increases with respect to the elapsed time measured by the measuring unit (202). When a new enemy character is to be produced in the game, an appearance setting unit (204) selects from among the candidates stored in the storage unit (201) the candidate having a distance to the player character that is closest to the reference distance, and sets the selected position as the appearance position of the new enemy character.

  • Patent number: 8287359
Abstract: A display unit displays symbols in a plurality of columns, and in particular arranges the symbols in the same order in two or more of the columns. A game controller unit determines an arrangement of symbols at random on a condition that symbols are arranged in the same order and at the same positions in the two or more columns. A display controller unit causes the display unit to spin the two or more columns of symbols from the same position in synchronization with each other, and stop the two or more columns at the same position to display the arrangement of symbols determined by the game controller unit.

  • Patent number: 8266982
Abstract: A hysteresis assembly for a pedal includes an elastic member support, two adjacent hysteresis blocks, and an elastic member connecting the elastic member support to the more distant hysteresis block. The hysteresis blocks interface at a slope. The assembly is attached at one end to a mounting bracket for the pedal via a shaft, and at the other end to the pedal arm. As the pedal is displaced, the hysteresis blocks slide relative to each other and frictionally engage the mounting bracket. The frictional force is proportional to the return force generated by the elastic member. The spring rate of the elastic member, the angle of the slope between the hysteresis blocks, and the point of attachment are determined, through analysis, to provide desired hysteresis forces (i.e., idle force, frictional force, and return force) to the pedal, thus providing the feel of a mechanical pedal in an electronic pedal.
