  • Patent number: 6790811
Abstract: Invert emulsion compositions including an oleaginous, a non-oleaginous and an amine surfactant that are useful in the oil and gas well drilling art are disclosed. The amine surfactant is selected so that the invert emulsion can be converted form a water-in-oil type emulsion to a oil-in-water type emulsion upon the protonation of the amine surfactant. Deprotonation of the amine surfactant reverses the conversion.

  • Patent number: 6756345
Abstract: A well service fluid composition comprises a fracturing fluid and a gas hydrate inhibitor. Preferably, the gas hydrate inhibitor does not affect the function of the fracturing fluid and is present in an amount sufficient to control and/or minimize the formation of gas hydrates. The well service fluid composition is useful in hydraulic fracturing in which the composition is injected into a subterranean formation under sufficient pressure to initiate and propagate a fracture in the formation. The fracturing fluid may be subsequently recovered when the fracturing operation is completed.

  • Patent number: 6754066
Abstract: A cabinet for an uninterrupted power source (UPS) is disclosed. The cabinet has three portions that characterize the frame. A front portion contains capacitor assemblies, power DC Link, power electronic components, and a control panel. The control panel and power DC Link are situated for front access and cover the power electronic components and capacitors. A rear portion holds a plurality of magnetic components. The magnetic components are accessible from the back of the cabinet and can be installed last in the assembly of the cabinet and configured for a specific voltage rating. A bus portion is divided from the front and rear portions and contains the bus bars for electrical connection of the UPS.

  • Patent number: 6198834
Abstract: An image analysis (IA) system for scoring characteristics predictive of palatability and yield of a meat animal carcass or cut. The IA system uses an imaging device, a data processing unit for processing image data, and an output device for output of processed data to the user. Also disclosed is a method for using the IA system in predicting palatability, yield, or defect conditions of a meat animal carcass or cut. The results are identified with a particular piece of meat for further grading, sortation and processing.

  • Patent number: 6174948
Abstract: Novel latex or emulsion compositions containing internally plasticizing and crosslinkable monomers derived from traditional semi-drying or non-drying oils are disclosed and claimed. The monomers are ethylenically unsaturated derivatives of long-chain olefinic compounds. Preferred embodiments include latex formed from acrylate or methacrylate esters of fatty alcohols. A process for the synthesis of the latex composition is also disclosed, which involves (a) polymerization of the ethylenically unsaturated derivatives of a long-chain olefinic compound in an aqueous phase with at least one other copolymerizable monomer; and (b) blending of so formed polymer with at least one drier and a surfactant to form the novel latex or emulsion compositions. These compositions form films at low minimum film forming temperatures (MFT) ranging from −5 to 10° C.

  • Patent number: 6169162
Abstract: A process for producing a polyamide from dicarboxylic acid monomer and diamine monomer comprises the steps of: (a) mixing molten dicarboxylic acid monomer and molten diamine monomer in equimolar amounts, thereby producing a molten reaction mixture; (b) flowing the reaction mixture through at least one unvented reaction vessel, the residence time of the reaction mixture in the at least one unvented reaction vessel being between about 0.01 minutes and about 30 minutes, thereby forming a first product stream that comprises polyamide and water of polymerization; and (c) flowing the first product stream through at least one vented vessel, whereby water of polymerization is removed, thereby forming a second product stream that comprises polyamide. The process can operate continuously, and there is no need to add water to the dicarboxylic acid, to the diamine, or to the reaction mixture.

  • Patent number: 6142545
Abstract: A pushdown and rotating tool for holding, pushing, and rotating a floated casing string into a wellbore is provided. The tool includes a mandrel, a housing attached about the external diameter of the mandrel and shaped to receive a collared casing, a jaws assembly within the housing, and an automatic hydraulics system for actuating the jaws. The mandrel and housing are connected such that they can move telescopically relative to one another, and such motion actuates the jaws. The tool has a threaded coupling for a top drive connection, the top drive providing the pushdown and rotational forces which are transmitted to the casing by way of the tool. The mandrel also has an internal passage-way through its length and a male connection at the bottom. The tool facilitates floating a casing into a substantially horizontal wellbore when the casing becomes buoyant and tries to "kick back" out of the well, or when the floated casing becomes stuck and requires rotation to extend beyond the obstacle.

  • Patent number: 6138304
Abstract: An improved surgical support device includes an adjustable hand rest and an adjustable head rest. The hand rest can be adjusted to provide a desired resting position both for a patient's head and for the surgeon's hand or hands. The hand rest has multiple degrees of freedom, allowing the surgeon to adjust the hand rest in the vertical and horizontal position and and to rotate the hand rest about the patient's head. The head rest allows vertical adjustment of the patient's head.

  • Patent number: 6084204
Abstract: A leadframe manufacturing apparatus includes a laser beam generator, a laser beam path tube through which laser beams travel, a leadframe transferring unit which transfers leadframe material to be irradiated by the laser beams, a controller connected to the laser beam generator and the leadframe transferring unit, which controls the transfer and irradiation of the leadframe material, a laser mask having a predetermined pattern, placed between the laser beam generator and the leadframe transferring unit, and a laser beam absorbing unit for supporting the leadframe transferring unit. A leadframe may also be manufactured by coating a leadframe material with a photoresist film capable of blocking the laser beams, and then patterning the photoresist film.
