  • Patent number: 8014379
Abstract: A circuit for processing a packet based signal received over a Bluetooth radio link has a correlator to detect at least part of the access code. A correlator controller, reconfigures the correlator according to a timing of the access code, to detect at least part of the EDR synchronization sequence, and a demodulator demodulates the payload according to the detection. The correlator has an input signal register, a buffer for a sequence of at least part of the wanted signal values, and a series of comparators arranged to compare input signal values with corresponding ones of the wanted signal values at more than one offset. By such dual use of the same correlator, the receiver can be made more cost effective.

  • Patent number: 8000325
Abstract: An improved system and method are disclosed for peer-to-peer communications. In one example, the method includes retrieving a profile and a routing table from an access server by a first endpoint during an authentication process. The profile identifies at least a second endpoint as an endpoint with which the first endpoint has permission to communicate. The routing table contains address information needed for the first endpoint to communicate directly with the second endpoint. The first endpoint sends a notification message directly to the second endpoint using the address information to inform the second endpoint that the first endpoint is online.

  • Patent number: 7996552
Abstract: A software distribution architecture having a television broadcast system as its infrastructure. Software from a software repository (1600) is mixed into a television broadcast system and transmitted into one or more selected channels at prescribed dates and times. An at-home subscriber, capable of receiving with a receiver (1608) the one or more select channels, switches to the one or more channels carrying the software distribution with a channel selector (1611). The subscriber, having programmed a controller (1616) with a programmer (1620) for the date, time, software ID, and channel of the software broadcast, then downloads the software package to a storage device (1622) for ultimate transfer to a PC (1624). A validation and accounting system (1628) then records the software download transaction and transmits this information over a PSTN (1632) to a provider accounting system (1630) such that the subscriber is billed for the software package which was downloaded.

  • Patent number: 7989040
Abstract: An insulating glass unit having a decorative pattern visible to the unaided eye. The glass unit comprises a pair of glass sheets disposed in a parallel, but spaced apart arrangement, thereby defining a gap between their respective inner surfaces. The glass unit further comprises a frame attached around the periphery of both sheets to form a sealed cavity. A first plurality of dots are disposed within the sealed cavity. Each dot of the first plurality is attached to the inner surface of one of the sheets, and has a height substantially equal to the width of the gap. A second plurality of dots are disposed within the sealed cavity. Each dot of the second plurality is attached to the inner surface of one of the sheets and has a height less than the width of the gap. The dots of the second plurality are arranged so as to form a pattern on the sheet that is visible to the unaided eye.
