  • Patent number: 6847145
Abstract: Encapsulation of a permanent magnet rotor is achieved by applying a glass roving material to spaces in the rotor structure, applying a veil cloth around the outer surface of the rotor, mounting a vacuum bag with vacuum ports around the outer surface of the rotor, removing vent plugs from the end walls of the rotor and screws from an inner ring of the rotor and replacing them with vacuum ports and applying a vacuum to the vacuum ports. After air has been removed from the rotor, an encapsulating resin is applied to some of the ports to introduce resin into the interior of the rotor. After curing of the resin the vacuum bag is removed and the outer surface of the rotor is machined to the desired outer dimension of the rotor.

  • Patent number: 6847938
Abstract: A method and system is taught for coordinating the exchange of goods between parties over a communications network such as the internet. Users of the system can interact with a central computer to input data regarding items that they offer for exchange, as well as search criteria describing items that they would like to receive in exchange. A processor in the central computer searches records stored in a database to find and sort those records that satisfy the user's search criteria. A second test is then be performed to determine whether the information that the user input describing the item offered for exchange satisfies search criteria within the record. As a result, a match may be generated between two users who have input complementary criteria. The invention can also accommodate more complex exchanges between three or more parties.

  • Patent number: 6844296
Abstract: Fracturing fluid compositions and methods for their preparation and use are disclosed. The compositions are useful in the oil and gas drilling operations, as well as in gravel packing operations, water blocking, temporary plugging for purposes of wellbore isolation and/or fluid loss control, and other uses. The compositions comprise a liquid, a polymer soluble in the liquid, having a degree of substitution of ionic groups of about 0.01 to about 0.1; and a crosslinking agent capable of increasing the viscosity of the fracturing fluid by crosslinking the polymer in liquid.

  • Patent number: 6844322
Abstract: Methods for effecting mammary secretion of milk from an animal, without the benefit of an immediately preceding pregnancy are provided. An exemplary embodiment the method comprises elevating an animal's estradiol and progesterone blood level sufficient to maintain a milk-secretion stimulating amount for approximately 5 to 12 consecutive days, wherein the day of the first elevation is defined to be day 0; and elevating an animal's somatotropin blood level sufficient to maintain a milk-secretion stimulating amount for at least 20 days from day 0. In any embodiment the method also optionally includes administering to the animal a milk-secretion stimulating amount of dexamethasone on approximately day 13 of the treatment. Furthermore, any embodiment the method may also optionally include adjusting the photo-period to which the animal is exposed in order to stimulate milk secretion. Any embodiment the method may also include physical stimulation of the animal's mammary gland.

  • Patent number: 6841498
Abstract: Disclosed is a new titanium based catalyst system for (co)-polymerizing ethylene or ethylene with alpha-olefin having 3 to 10 carbons. The catalyst is obtained by contacting a magnesium halide support with an aluminum compound and with a titanium halide compound and then treating the resulting solid with a magnesium-amide complex. The catalyst system is suitable for producing ethylene polymer and co-polymer with narrow molecular weight distribution as well as improved branching compositional distribution.

  • Patent number: 6837757
Abstract: In the embodiments described in the specification, a rim-driven propulsion pod arrangement has a cylindrical housing with a duct providing a flow path for water and a rotor assembly supported from a central shaft and containing a rotating blade row and driven by a rim drive permanent magnet motor recessed in the housing. An array of vanes downstream from the rotating blade row is arranged to straighten the flow of water emerging from the rotating blade row. Radial bearing members on the rotor have a hardness less than that of the shaft on which the rotor is supported and relatively soft protrusions are provided in the space between the rotor and the housing to limit excursion of the rotor. A thrust bearing has wedges arranged to form a water wedge between facing surfaces of the rotor and the rotor support during rotation of the rotor.

  • Patent number: 6834722
Abstract: A cyclic check valve is provided for a coiled tubing string which enables reverse circulating for a specific period when a specific combination of pumping condition and oil conditions are favorable. The check valve may be activated to prevent reverse flow up through the valve and into the coiled tubing in the event of a failure of the coiled tubing at surface. The valve may be de-activated to allow reverse circulating. The check valve includes a flapper valve which may be de-activated by shiftable sleeve locked in place by a J-slot assembly. The check valve may be cycled from the activated to de-activated position and verified by a change in pressure drop through the tool.
