  • Patent number: 4869324
Abstract: Modifications are provided for both single unit and dual unit inflatable packers or bridge plugs permitting such inflatable tools to be inserted in a well through the primary tubing string which in turn is suitably sealably anchored in the well above the producing formations. The inflatable tool is inserted into the well on a conduit, such as coiled tubing, and fluid pressure transmitted through the conduit is utilized to effect the expansion and setting of the inflatable elements of the inflatable tool. The conduit is connected to the inflatable tool by a fluid pressure operated release mechanism and, following the inflation of the inflatable element or elements, the conduit may be utilized to supply treatment fluid or cementing fluid to a formation isolated by the inflatable tool.

  • Patent number: 4869325
Abstract: Methods and apparatus are provided for retrieving an inflatable packer or bridge plug of a type which may be passed through a small diameter tubing, seal against a relatively large diameter casing by passing fluid to the packer through a remedial tubing to inflate an elastomeric packing element and then be retrieved to the surface through the small diameter tubing by deflating the elastomeric packing element.Circulation may be maintained during run-in through an open port in a centralizer member provided on the bottom of the packer or bridge plug. If the device is used as a bridge plug, the open port is closed by dropping a ball and applying pressure through the tubing to permanently close the open port preliminary to inflating the elastomeric elements.

  • Patent number: 4865546
Abstract: A method is disclosed for making a resilient cast by using impression material to fill any mold, such as an impression of an enucleated eye socket, an impression of the oral cavity, an impression of the tissue bearing surface of a denture, or any other mold in which it would be advantageous to have a resilient model on which to acomplish work. More specifically, a unique method and apparatus for performing a wide variety of procedures relating to the fabrication, repair and equilibration of dentures is provided. A non-reversible hydrocolloid impression compound, such as alginate, is used to form resilient denture casts supported on a support platform to provide a stable work surface. • Patent number: 4865587
Abstract: To inflate the balloon element on the distal end of a pulmonary artery catheter an improved gas syringe is provided which is both volume and pressure-limited so that the syringe is capable of discharging into the catheter no more than the maximum design gas inlet volume thereof while at the same reducing the maximum attainable pressure within the catheter to a predeterminable level substantially below that reached when a conventional volume-limited syringe of the same gas discharge capacity is used. The syringe volume delivery limitation is achieved by forming rearwardly disposed plunger stop members, or a suitable vent opening, in a sidewall portion of the syringe body. The pressure limitation is obtained by forming a pressure absorption zone which defines a substantially inextensible enlargement of the gas-receiving interior of the catheter.

  • Patent number: 4856961
Abstract: Portable cargo loading apparatus capable of being placed into the hold of a ship for loading and unloading cargo respectively to and from the wing areas of the hold. Comprising the apparatus is a loading section formed of three large area relatively slidable trays arranged in a nesting relation capable of being power extended and retracted in a controlled operating sequence. During tray extension, cargo which has for example been delivered by a dockside crane directly into the uppermost tray is relocated by the apparatus from the delivery location for placement into a paired loading site within the wing. After loading of a localized wing site is completed, a transport section is operable to enable incremental lateral displacement of the loading section to a new paired location relatively juxtaposed to the wing site in which loading was just completed.
