  • Patent number: 6572504
Abstract: A silent chain is directed to prevent bending of the connection pin and reducing surface pressure acting on the connection pin while maintaining bendability of the entire chain. The chain includes multiple link plates, each having a pair of teeth and a pair of pinholes. The links are interleaved in the transverse and longitudinal directions and the link plates are connected by connection pins inserted in the pinholes. Connection pin is composed of center pin at the center of pinhole and of a pair of rocker pins on both sides of said center pin. Guide washer is provided to each connection pin. Guide washer has a guide part extending on both sides of the teeth of link plate and a central apertures for fixing of the end of center pin.

  • Patent number: 6438533
Abstract: An apparatus and system are provided for retrieving electronic records from a database of records, preferably in the form of medical records. The apparatus utilizes a knowledge base in the form of a data structure set forth in a description language. The knowledge base includes representations of a plurality of concepts hierarchically linked with other concepts within a plurality of classes, and non-hierarchically linked with concepts in other classes. A query manager receives a user query and translates the query into the description language. A records analyzer is coupled to the query manager, database and knowledge base. The records analyzer analyzes the records in the database based on the user query and the classes and the hierarchical and non-hierarchical relationships in the knowledge base.

  • Patent number: 6374726
Abstract: A lid for covering an associated beverage container. The lid attaches to the top of the associated container and includes a central opening with an optional well portion. Heated water, or other liquid, is poured through the opening into the associated container and then circulates between the inside and outside of the well portion to permit infusion of flavors from the flavoring materials to the liquid. A removable paper inner cover is also provided that seats within the central opening. The paper inner cover snaps into the central opening either alone or over and covering the well portion. The removable paper inner cover may be printed with high quality graphics and text.

  • Patent number: 6269736
Abstract: A disposable infuser for brewing beverages within an associated container. The infuser includes a centrally located well portion for receiving a charge of particulate flavoring material, like tea leaves. The well includes a filter portion which has a plurality of openings. The openings are formed without scrap “flash” or waste by shearing a tab or flap of material away from the filter portion of the well or piercing the filter portion of the well with a needle-shaped or knife-shaped protrusion in the mold. The resulting tabs or punctures serve to keep the particulate flavoring material out of the brewed beverage.

  • Patent number: 6237327
Abstract: An engine control system for controlling combustion of an internal combustion engine equipped with an exhaust gas purifying catalyst. The system controls fuel combustion on the basis of control parameters including air/fuel ratio, ignition timing and intake air flow so as to cause a rise in exhaust gas temperature while an exhaust gas purifying catalyst installed in an exhaust line of the engine is insufficiently warmed or inactive. When a fluctuation of engine speed is detected, the system controls the air/fuel ratio to reach a target value close to a stoichiometric value, for example, a value between 13 and 17, and controls a control parameter other than air/fuel ratio so as to bring the fluctuation of engine speed within limits of stable combustion while the exhaust gas purifying catalyst is insufficiently warmed. The air/fuel ratio feedback control may be commenced immediately after an engine start.

  • Patent number: 6212879
Abstract: A fuel combustion control system for an internal combustion engine having an exhaust gas purifying catalyst installed in an exhaust line therein advances an ignition timing to try to stabilize combustion when a fluctuation of engine speed is larger than a limit speed on stable combustion and further retards an ignition timing to accelerate a rise in catalyst temperature together with securing combustion stability while the engine is still cold or when a fluctuation of engine speed is smaller than the limit speed on stable combustion.
