Abstract: In the prior art key control signals are produced at a scrambling location, used at that location for scrambling and then transmitted along with the scrambled message to the unscrambling location. In accordance with the present disclosure, improved privacy is achieved by producing key control signals at the unscrambling location, using them at that location for unscrambling and also transmitting them to the scrambling location for use in scrambling.

Abstract: A mobile microphone-transmitter assembly is disclosed which comprises a microphone, a plurality of infrared light emitting devices, electrical apparatus connected between the microphone and the devices to energize the devices in response to inputs to the microphone and a mechanical structure for supporting the devices to produce a substantially omnidirectional, horizontal radiation pattern when the structure is worn by a user and the devices are energized.

Abstract: A circuit is disclosed for testing electrical apparatus to detect leakage and voltage breakdown failure paths and, furthermore, to indicate if the impedances in the paths are below predetermined levels and thereby to characterize the type and nature of the failure. A feature of the circuit is the use of a high voltage test source which has sufficient internal impedance to prevent hazardous currents if a user should accidentally come into contact with the source output.

Abstract: Unit value increments of two types are counted with the counting process starting anew each time these increments change type. As each count output is produced, it is translated into a second increment where the absolute values of these second increments are unity for at least the first count output after a change in type of the first increment and then become increasingly greater with each count output. Based upon the type of first increment, the second increments are either added or subtracted from an initial number.

Abstract: Apparatus and a method are disclosed for localizing excessive temperature occurring at any point along a path. In particular, a substantially constant pressure gas is applied via an orifice to a closed tubing which extends along the path. The tubing is selected to rupture at the predetermined excessive temperature. The approximate location of the rupture is determined by measuring the differential pressure across the orifice after a rupture occurs.
