  • Patent number: 4579634
Abstract: A method for chemically milling an etchable workpiece by exposure thereof to an etchant in order to mill selected etchant-active areas and thereby form a plurality of raised die elements separated and bounded by a plurality of recessed cavities is comprised of the steps of initially, partially etching the workpiece to form recessed die element precursors separated and bounded by recessed cavities, depositing a film of an etchant-resistant composition on the workpiece in at least selected ones of the recessed cavities, filling those selected cavities with an etchant-resistant filler and then subsequently processing the workpiece to form a die. The die is then completed by deposition of a film of a tribological composition, which may be the same as or different from the etchant-resistant composition, within those recessed cavities not theretofore bearing the etchant-resistant film.

  • Patent number: 4580185
Abstract: A cassette case adapted to be placed in the cassette recess of a video player/recorder. A cleaning ribbon is mounted in the case and is moved outwardly by tape-guides of the player/recorder to engage the video head and audio head of the player/recorder. To cause the cleaning ribbon to retract after the cleaning operation, there is provided a shut-off ribbon, operated by the drive spindle of the player/recorder, with the shut-off ribbon cooperating with the light/photocell already in the player/recorder. A tension ribbon is connected to the cleaning ribbon to move the cleaning ribbon out of engagement with the video playing/recording head and audio head to its retracted position.

  • Patent number: 4570846
Abstract: A housing mounted to the side of a conventional rural mailbox by means of strap extending circumferentially around the mailbox. The housing has a signal flag movable between a down non-signalling position and an up signalling position. There is an elongate actuating rod extending between the front door of the mailbox and the pivot location of the signalling member. Opening of the mailbox door causes the actuating rod to move to a release position to permit the signal member to move upwardly to its signalling position.

  • Patent number: 4569199
Abstract: A turboprop engine having a variable pitch propeller driven through a speed reducing transmission. The engine has a compressor section with a low pressure component and a high pressure component. A flow control device is positioned between the low and high pressure components. During takeoff, air from the low pressure component is bypassed, and during cruise, the air from the low pressure component is passed directly through the high pressure component, thus obtaining improved matching of engine components for both takeoff and cruise.

  • Patent number: 4568237
Abstract: There is disclosed a mobile cargo container for transporting fluid-like materials such as cannery waste. The cargo container includes a floor conveyor extending rearward of and beyond the container bottom for discharging materials from the container through a rear discharge outlet. A trailer door is connected to the container to pivot between an open position wherein the door is above the discharge outlet, and a closed position wherein the door seals the container in a fluid tight fit. The discharge outlet is defined by side walls of the trailer which are angled downwardly in a rearward direction from the top of the container to a point wherein the side walls project downwardly in a forward direction to meet with a bottom portion of the container.

  • Patent number: 4556433
Abstract: An apparatus and method for cleaning a digitally encoded disc by moving a circumferential wiping surface in a circular path across the periphery of the disc toward the middle of the disc, and again outwardly toward the periphery of the disc. This is accomplished by having a gear drive connection between a rotatable disc support member and a rotatable wiping member positioned above and offset to one side of the support member. Rotation of the cleaning member causes a relatively slower rotation of the support member so that all parts of the disc are properly cleaned.
