Abstract: A hand held vacuum cleaner having a housing, a motor-fan unit, a dust container, an air passage opening into the dust container and through which dust laden air is directed into the dust container, and at least one filter arranged after the dust container, as seen in the flow direction. The dust container has a first emptying opening, which is normally being covered by a lid and is sized such that it allows the dust collected in the dust container to fall out through the opening when the lid is opened. The dust container also has a second emptying opening. In one aspect, the second emptying opening is adapted to be fluidly connected to an external vacuum source via a connection. In another aspect, a similar device is provided, and adapted so the dust container can be emptied through the first emptying opening without removing the dust container from the vacuum cleaner.

  • Patent number: 8222679
Abstract: A semiconductor device with an integrated circuit on a semiconductor substrate comprises a Hall effect sensor in a first active region and a lateral high voltage MOS transistor in a second active region. The semiconductor device of the present invention is characterized in that the structure of the integrated Hall effect sensor is strongly related with the structure of a high-voltage DMOS transistor. The integrated Hall effect sensor is in some features similar to a per se known high-voltage DMOS transistor having a double RESURF structure. The control contacts of the Hall effect sensor correspond to the source and drain contacts of the high-voltage DMOS transistor. The semiconductor device of the present invention allows a simplification of the process integration.

  • Patent number: 8222376
Abstract: The present invention relates to agents and methods that are capable of augmenting NK-mediated killing of target cells by reducing inhibitory KIR signalling without reducing the binding of KIR to HLA-C. As described herein, transduction of negative signaling via KIR, 5 upon binding of KIR to its HLA class I ligand, can involve a ligand-binding induced, conformational reorientation of the KIR molecules allowing interactions to form between adjacent KIRs in specific domains, leading to accelerated clustering. Methods and agents such as mono-clonal antibodies for reducing KIR-mediated inhibition of NK cell cytotoxicity without reducing or blocking HLA-binding by, e.g., reducing or blocking dimerization of KIR, are provided.

  • Patent number: 8224723
Abstract: A system that facilitates opening of a bank account by banking personnel for a customer. The account opening system includes an automatic rate determination feature that uses customer information, account information and other criteria to determine an account interest rate. The rate determination system may also mediate rate negotiation between a personal banker and the customer by limiting the increase in rate awarded by the personal banker. An auditing system assigns numbers to a series of profiles, each describing a request to open an account. Profiles to be audited are determined by generating random numbers that fall within the range of assigned profile numbers. Random number generation is repeated until a threshold percentage of profiles have been selected for auditing. The account opening system includes a system for tracking the progress of the account application and for organizing information recorded by the personal banker during interactions with the customer.

  • Patent number: 8222019
Abstract: The present invention relates to the discovery that the T1R receptors assemble to form functional taste receptors. Particularly, it has been discovered that co-expression of T1R1 and T1R3 results in a taste receptor that responds to umami taste stimuli, including monosodium glutamate. Also, it has been discovered that co-expression of the T1R2 and T1R3 receptors results in a taste receptor that responds to sweet taste stimuli including naturally occurring and artificial sweeteners. Also the present invention relates to the use of hetero-oligomeric taste receptors comprising T1R1/T1R3 and T1R2/T1R3 in assays to identify compounds that respectively respond to umami taste stimuli and sweet taste stimuli. Further, the invention relates to the constitutive of cell lines that stably or transiently co-express a combination of T1R1 and T1R3; or T1R2 and T1R3; under constitutive or inducible conditions.
