Abstract: A dual-modality sensor for detecting a presence of a human intruder within a secure setting includes a seismic sensor for acquiring a seismic signature of a disturbance, and includes an active acoustic sensor to acquire an acoustic signature of the disturbance. A system processor is electrically connected to the seismic and active acoustic sensors to receive and process the seismic and acoustic signatures, and generate an alarm signal when the disturbance is determined to come from a human intruder. Also included is an antenna and/or hard-wire connection arranged for communicating the alarm signal. The dual-modality sensor is arranged in a sensor housing constructed to contact a surface of the secure setting. The sensor may include a battery or other means for providing electrical power.
Abstract: A plurality of detectors can be evaluated to determine if more than one has been assigned the same address. Responsive thereto, such detectors could be identified for follow-up maintenance, or service.
Abstract: A dual mode motion sensor for detecting both motion of a moving target and a range of the moving target. The dual mode motion sensor normally operates in a pulse transmission mode. If motion is detected, the sensor automatically switches to a frequency modulated continuous wave transmission mode. This will allow the sensor to determine the range of the moving target. The sensor includes a microcontroller that compares the determined range of the moving target with a predetermined maximum detection range. If the determined range is outside or exceeds the predetermined maximum detection range the sensor will ignore the motion. If the determined range is within the predetermined maximum detection range, an alarm will be generated.

Abstract: A backup pump control unit can incorporate ports to receive rechargeable batteries such as lithium ion, nickel cadmium or nickel metal hydride batteries. Multiple units can be coupled together to increase the available, stored electrical energy. In the absence of AC-type input power, the batteries can energize a backup pump.
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for defining and creating an automatic file security policy and a semi-automatic method of managing file access control in organizations with multiple diverse access control models and multiple diverse file server protocols. The system monitors access to storage elements within the network. The recorded data traffic is analyzed to assess simultaneous data access groupings and user groupings, which reflect the actual organizational structure. The learned structure is then transformed into a dynamic file security policy, which is constantly adapted to organizational changes over time. The system provides a decision assistance interface for interactive management of the file access control and for tracking abnormal user behavior.

Abstract: The present invention relates to the screening method of antagonistic material of integrin using the protein chip and useful peptides screened thereby. The protein chip used in the present invention is unique substrate coated with new material, calixarene derivative, which can keep uniform and high activities of proteins. Integrin receptor protein is arrayed high densely on the chip, and materials (protein, peptide, small molecules and so on) specifically inhibiting the binding of ligand can be screened therewith. The integrins used in the present invention are integrin av f3 3 and integrin a1, b j3 3, and new antagonistic peptides screened from peptide library have high binding affinity.
Abstract: An automatic guidance system and method directs a person in a defined area. An access control device includes a selectively encoded readable element. An access control device reader is adapted to read the element of the access control device and selectively deny or allow a user access to a predetermined location. A communication device included in the access control device reader directs the user to the predetermined location.

Abstract: A golf bag rain cover is used to cover a club opening of a golf bag so that the golfer's clubs can remain as dry as possible during play. The golf bag rain cover may comprise a one-piece shell being constructed of a water-resistant material which is held in a bonnet shape over the club opening by several extensible rods. The golfer simply reaches up and under the shell to retrieve or replace clubs. In alternate embodiments, the deployment of the rain cover can be adjusted to allow more or easier access to the clubs. Also in alternate embodiments, the rain cover may be stowed in a stowage element integral with the golf bag.

Abstract: Multiple parameter fire detection uses outputs from one or more radiant energy sensors in combination with outputs from smoke or thermal sensors to shorten response times to alarm while minimizing nuisance alarms. The radiant energy related outputs can be used to alter parameters of the smoke or thermal sensors. The various sensors can be displaced from one another in an alarm system.
Abstract: Disclosed is a method for processing data packets exchanged over a packet network having data packets and voice packets. The method includes receiving data packets from a data processing device and determining whether the data packets need to be divided into smaller data packets. If the data packets need to be divided, then dividing the data packets into divided data packets and interspersing the divided data packets among the voice packets. In addition, the method includes sending the data packets, including the smaller data packets if divided, and the voice packets to a communications network. In one embodiment, data packets to and from the voice packets have a higher priority than the data packets.
Abstract: Methods for the production of new Adonis palaestina plants and plant populations with improved characteristics such as increased flower size, astaxanthin content, and/or reduced cardenolide content are provided. Also provided are an astaxanthin-containing Adonis oleoresin and methods of extracting astaxanthin and other ketocarotenoids from flowers of Adonis palaestina plants, while reducing non-ketocarotenoids and cardenolides.

The portable work space is capable of being extended out from the laptop computer bag by extending the front extendable legs and the rear extendable legs from a collapsed position. The front extendable legs and the rear extendable legs provide support for the portable workspace. The back pack is the same only the workspace the main support wall that would rest on a persons back, with padding (outside of the pack) so the user does not feel the hard surface of the workstation.
