Patent number: 7244748Abstract: The invention provides novel pyridines, pharmaceutical compositions comprising such pyridines, and the use of such compositions in treating injured mammalian nerve tissue, including but not limited to an injured spinal cord. In one embodiment, the compounds, compositions, and methods of the instant invention treat a mammalian nerve tissue injury by restoring action potential or nerve impulse conduction through a nerve tissue lesion. Significantly, in vivo application of compounds of the instant invention established, on the basis of SSEP testing, that the compounds provide longer lasting effects at lower concentrations than comparable treatment with the known agent 4-aminopyridine (4 AP).Type: GrantFiled: December 5, 2003Date of Patent: July 17, 2007Assignee: Purdue Research FoundationInventors: Richard B. Patent number: 7033023Abstract: A system and method for designing a progressive lens are provided. Mean power is specified at points distributed over the entire surface of the lens and lens height is specified around the edge of the lens. Lens height is determined at the points consistent with the specified mean power and the lens edge height in part by solving a partial differential equation of the elliptic type subject to the lens edge height as a boundary condition. A successive over-relaxation technique may be employed to converge on the solution to the partial differential equation, and an over-relaxation factor may be determined to most efficiently relax the equation.Type: GrantFiled: August 17, 2004Date of Patent: April 25, 2006Assignee: Signet Armorlite, Inc.Inventors: Trevor Steele, Hugh McLoughlin, Derek Payne

Patent number: 7009497Abstract: A plurality of sensors are positioned in a home. Sensor fire data is delivered to a remote server, and the sensor fire data is segmented into single-state blocks broken up by door opening and closing events. The door opening and closing events represent potential state changes in the home where the number of people present in the home may have changed. The raw data from the sensor fires are then processed into adjacent sensor fires and used to populate adjacency matrices and frequency distributions. That information is subjected to a statistical goodness-of-fit test, which reveals a probability indicating the likelihood a given data block should be attributed with the single or multiple person state. The single versus multiple person state is passed along with these data to the remainder of the data analyses, which can then be properly aware of which data should be treated with due suspicion.Type: GrantFiled: March 21, 2003Date of Patent: March 7, 2006Assignee: HDS Acquisition CompanyInventors: Ryan Nicoletti, Tim Bruemmer, Rich McGillicuddy

Patent number: 6988819Abstract: A lamp assembly with an integrated Light Emitting Diode support frame is described. An electrically conductive lead frame is encapsulated in between the interior and exterior surfaces of a lamp housing. Surface mounted LED light sources and associated drive components are attached to the lead frame, and thus to the housing. A positive terminal and a negative terminal are formed from the lead frame on the inside to the outside of the housing, so that electricity may be transmitted from an external source to the LED light sources on the inside of the housing. The LED light sources are energized by the conductive lead frame formed into or onto the housing, thus eliminating the need for a separate printed circuit board with a conductive lead frame.Type: GrantFiled: September 5, 2003Date of Patent: January 24, 2006Assignee: Guide CorporationInventors: Fred D. Patent number: 6981222Abstract: A system and method for end-to-end transaction processing and statusing is disclosed. In one embodiment, an application server computer is used to house a variety of applications. An application accessed by a user converts a user request into an eXtensible Markup Language (XML) document. The application server computer uses a high level protocol to pass the XML document to a back office server which has access to a business' enterprise resource planning (ERP) database. The back office server performs the functions requested in the XML document, which may include complex database manipulations. Once the requested function has been performed, the back office server generates a response XML document which is passed to the application server computer using a high level protocol. The information within the response XML document is then presented to the user.Type: GrantFiled: August 13, 2001Date of Patent: December 27, 2005Assignee: Made2Manage Systems, Inc.Inventors: Gary W. Patent number: 6965689Abstract: A measuring device for calculating sample volumes and changes in sample volumes is disclosed. The device includes a rotatable platform upon which the sample is placed and rotated in increments with an image of the sample being recorded at each rotational position to which the sample is rotated. The recorded images are digitized and outlined such that the outline can be divided into a plurality of parallel slices. The volume of each slice is calculated by calculating the volume of each portion of the slice represented by each image. The portions are then summed to provide the volume of each slice with the volume of each slice then being summed to provide the volume of the total sample. The device further includes a display apparatus to enable an operator to not only view before and after calculated volumes, but to be provided with a graphical display of the shape of the sample both before and after an event which changes the volume of the sample.Type: GrantFiled: April 5, 2001Date of Patent: November 15, 2005Inventors: Thomas Eliott Lee, Inchan Choi, Byoung In Suh
