  • Patent number: 7299404
Abstract: A repository index records the position of document entries relative to landmark entries within the document. Landmark entries are selecting using a landmarking policy and their position relative to the document are stored in a landmark directory. During index updates, an edit transcript is generated describing the difference between old and new document versions, and both the document repository index and the landmark directory are updated as needed. Thus, the number of update operations preformed as compared with conventional indexing techniques may be substantially reduced when small, localized changes are made to the document. This is due to fact that the positions of document entries are recorded relative to the landmark entries rather than the document itself. By doing so, the document index becomes more shift-invariant, requiring fewer update operations when entries are added or inserted in localized areas of the document.

  • Patent number: 7289981
Abstract: A method, system, and computer program for enabling parametric searches on source data using text search engine. The invention is generally divided into a build-time process and a run-time process. During the build-time process, a crawler extracts data units from source data. A data translator then translates data units into keyword parametric entries that are submitted to the text search engine. During the run-time process, a query translator translates parametric search queries into keyword search entries. A metadata refiner then filters intermediate search results from the search engine based on the parametric search query.

  • Patent number: 7277931
Abstract: A method, apparatus, computer product and structure is presented for representing and managing large amounts of information concerning networks of elements. While being useful for communication networks, it can be also usefully deployed in the context of other networks such as distribution and transportation networks. The method uses a hierarchical construct called “catalog”—a set of elements (which could be “atomic” elements or catalogs themselves)—to organize information about physical or abstract entities relevant for modeling the network. A matrix construct whose rows and columns constitute such elements are used to model connections at different levels of abstraction. A common framework and representation provided using these two constructs is shown to be useful for visualization, administration, configuration, modeling, monitoring and manipulation of the network.

  • Patent number: 7266216
Abstract: The present invention provides an image watermarking technique whereby a watermark is inserted into an adjusted digital source image that is bounded by a specific bounding rectangle. If the source image is larger than the rectangle, its dimensions are reduced by a common factor until it is the largest adjusted image that lies totally within the rectangle. A watermark is inserted into the adjusted image and at least one derived image of larger or smaller size is produced. Then, regardless of the size of an image derived from the watermarked adjusted image, enlarging or reducing that image to again lie within the rectangle greatly facilitates detection of the imbedded watermark. The size of the bounding rectangle may be specific to each source image, or, conversely, a common bounding rectangle may be used for a group of source images.

  • Patent number: 7251364
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for effectively identifying the occlusion of objects, such as persons, having a high degree of freedom. In an example embodiment, after initialization, an image is input, and an image region is extracted from image data. The distance is employed that is obtained when the shape of a two-dimensional histogram in the color space is transformed into the feature space. A graph is formed by using the regions between the frames. A confidence factor is provided and image features are provided as weights to the edges that connect the nodes. Processing is performed and the confidence factor is examined. A connection judged less possible to be a path is removed. When there is only one available connection for the occlusion point, this connection is selected.

  • Patent number: 7224346
Abstract: A non-native language writing aid method and a tool for implementing the same intercept and captures the user's input, and display possible words and their interpretation in real time adjacent a cursor input. The tool can automatically adjust and select more possible words and their interpretation, while the user sequentially inputs characters constituting the input, until he/she chooses one word or makes a confirmation on his/her input. The invention may implement spelling check and meaning verification in real time, and provide expression prompting and a fuzzy search function, so that non-native language input speed can be greatly improved. • Patent number: 7200684
Abstract: The present invention provides methods and apparatus for classifying and demultiplexing packets in a network protocol stack. It provides extendibility for packet processing in the network protocol stack by defining a standard method for adding new functionality. It provides a method to obtain external information, from an application scheduled outside of the forwarding or interrupt context of the kernel, in order to augment packet classification and/or augment packet disposition. In some embodiments, external information augments a criteria of a node in a classification tree with additional information. It presents a way of augmenting which suspends the classification process until an application, scheduled outside of the forwarding or interrupt context of the kernel, completes. The resulting external information is used to augment the packet classification.

  • Patent number: 7194633
Abstract: The invention is directed to a data-processing system comprising a processor, a second encrypted cryptographic key stored in a first persistent memory, and a cryptographic co-processor that comprises a first register and a second register. The cryptographic co-processor serves for decrypting in a decryption step the second encrypted cryptographic key, thereby generating therefrom a second unencrypted cryptographic key that is usable by the processor for executing an operation. For the decryption step the first register is loadable with the second encrypted cryptographic key and the second register is loadable with a first cryptographic key. The resulting second unencrypted cryptographic key is maintainable in one of the registers for being used by the cryptographic co-processor for decrypting encrypted information or encrypting unencrypted information for the operation.

  • Patent number: 7174050
Abstract: A method, system, and computer program product for adjusting a unit image area within an input image according to information importance within the unit area. An image receiver configured to receive the input image. An image warper is coupled to an importance map as is configured to generate a warped image such that regions of higher importance in the input image are expanded in the warped image and regions of lower importance in the input image are compressed in the warped image. The importance map is configured to delineate the regions of higher importance and the regions of lower importance in the input image. Texture coordinates may also be warped in a similar manner. Thus, the image is unwarped automatically by modern graphics adapters having texture mapping capabilities.

  • Patent number: 7174367
Abstract: A master content generation unit generates information (master content) that is concretized based on the original idea of a content generator. An intermediate content generation unit re-constructs a complete and concrete content that has an adequate amount of information at a lower level, and generates a content to be sold. When a purchaser (a buyer) issues a request for a desired level, such as for the amount of information, to the intermediate content generation unit via the new content requesting unit, the content is re-constructed in accordance with the request. A content retailing unit provides a price for the master content and the content that is generated by the intermediate content generation unit, and collects the requested purchase price from a buyer. The buyer may select content equivalent to the compensation that corresponds to the buyer's request, and may purchase it from the content retaining unit.
