  • Patent number: 4363553
Abstract: A watch mechanism incorporating two barrels each containing a spring. The springs contained in each barrel are positively connected in series to each other via a gear mechanism or a common arbor. The considerable energy available makes it possible to maintain the movement of a high frequency spring balance oscillator. The barrel rotates rapidly to drive the first pinion of the train of gears with an angular velocity approximately double relative to the normal angular velocities; the torque is approximately half (600 gr.mm) that of conventional-sized watch mechanism of comparable performance. The barrels may be mounted coaxially or in the same plane and the mechanism can be arranged to be wound manually or automatically.

  • Patent number: 4362169
Abstract: A smoker's pipe of the dry bowl type is disclosed which has a ceramic inner bowl secured at its lower end to the lower end of an outer plastic bowl in a manner to space the bowls radially apart for the establishment of a cooling air space between the bowls. The pipe has a stem provided with an auxiliary fresh air inlet that is in communication with one end of a horizontal longitudinally extending passageway located in the bottom of the inner bowl below the combustion chamber and in communication therewith. The other end of the passageway is in communication with a cooling chamber to communicate smoke from the inner bowl to a mouthpiece fitted in the outer end of the stem. The mouthpiece has an insert cluster containing a smoke passage tube and a liquid contaminant tube, the latter of which is received within the open end of a liquid absorber mounted on a plug that is frictionally fitted in a bore formed in the front end of the stem below the bowl assembly.

  • Patent number: 4359083
Abstract: The invention concerns the technical problem of providing a simple and reliable apparatus for separating castings from moulds of sand or similar material at the end of a guiding track, on which the moulds with the enclosed castings are advanced step by step towards a knocking-out station. With a view hereto the apparatus comprises a number of possibly interchangeable claws equipped with vibrators which, when moved into the row of moulds, can penetrate the mould sand and be caused to enclose and pinch the outermost casting, whereafter the claws are shifted back to the initial position in which the pair of tongs formed by the claws can open in order to deliver the casting for further treatment. The claws can be specially formed so as to retain possible core sand in the castings.

  • Patent number: 4359174
Abstract: This invention provides a table air pot for keeping hot or cold liquid comprising a wide mouth vacuum-insulated bottle housed in an outer casing and supported by upper and lower supporting means respectively fixed on the top and bottom ends of the outer casing. The lid of the table air pot includes in combination a bellow-type pump device for pumping up the liquid contained in the bottle into a drink cup while the air pot stands upright on a table, and a plug fixed to the bottom of the pump device for closing the bottle when the lid in its closed position. The tube for discharging the liquid from the bottle in response to the operation of the pump device is fixed on the upper supporting means for the bottle and is physically separated from the plug of the lid. Thus, the table air pot according to this invention can become ready to be filled with liquid by a single operation of opening the lid without need of removing the liquid tube.

  • Patent number: 4285465
Abstract: A thermoscopic unit such as for use in a thermostat of a fluid mixing valve comprising a hollow body in which a cylindrical convoluted bellows unit is located and sealed to the body to define an expansion chamber in which a thermally responsive material, such as wax, is contained. Temperature changes resulting in a change of volume of the material in the expansion chamber apply an external pressure to change the axial length of the bellows unit, and this may be operably connected to an actuator for a valve assembly. Preferably, there is a reservoir of the material constituted by a tubular coil encircling the hollow body, or a hollow cone extending therefrom. Such reservoir is filled with the material and is in communication with the expansion chamber and provides additional heat transfer surfaces to give fast response to temperature changes.

  • Patent number: 4256263
Abstract: A spray nozzle for use in the spray head of shower-bathing apparatus and primarily for use with high pressure water systems. The nozzle comprises a ducted body housing a swirl device having fixed guide vanes extending radially from a generally cylindrical hub and substantially flat guide faces angled relative to the hub axis which impart a swirling motion to water flowing through the body and which direct the water onto a converging wall and thence to a single nozzle orifice of right cylindrical configuration, whereby the water issues as a cone-shaped spray which is "full" of water droplets. The nozzle is suitable for use over a wide range of pressures above 1 bar (1 atmosphere) as the level of comfort of the user is maintained at the higher pressures.
