  • Patent number: 8346361
Abstract: User interface for external power source, recharger, for an implantable medical device. At least some of patient controls and display icons of an energy transfer unit are common with at least some of the patient controls and the display icons of a patient control unit. An energy transfer unit is operable by the patient with less than three operative controls to control energy transfer from the external energy transfer unit to the implantable medical device. An external antenna having a primary coil can inductively transfer energy to a secondary coil of the implantable medical device when the external antenna is externally placed in proximity of the secondary coil. An energy transfer unit has an external telemetry coil allowing the energy transfer unit to communicate with the implantable medical device through the internal telemetry coil in order to at least partially control the therapeutic output of the implantable medical device.

  • Patent number: 8337995
Abstract: Soak-in and strike through on the exposed end grain portions of low density or porous wood substrates including alder, birch, pine, poplar, and soft maple are reduced by applying to the end grain a solvent-borne coating composition containing an (i) alkyd resin having a hydroxyl number less than about 150, (ii) acid catalyst and (iii) cross linker. The resin desirably has a number average molecular weight greater than about 2000, and may have a Gardner coloration less than about 3 or may be a short oil alkyd based on coconut oil. By using a reduced hydroxyl number alkyd resin, a reduced cross linker amount may be employed, thereby reducing formaldehyde evolution in compositions made with methylated amino resin cross linkers such as methylated melamine resins.

  • Patent number: 8337934
Abstract: One aspect of the present invention method of making bacon pieces comprises placing bellies in a vessel. Dry cure ingredients and water are added in the vessel containing the bellies. The dry cure ingredients and the water create a cure ingredients solution, which includes up to 3.0% water by weight of the bellies. The bellies and the cure ingredients solution are tumbled in the vessel under vacuum to create cured bellies. The cured bellies are cooked to a desired cook level. The up to 3.0% water by weight of the bellies allows the cured bellies to be cooked to the desired cook level in only one cooking step.

  • Patent number: 8314594
Abstract: System and method for estimating the time before recharging the rechargeable power source of an implantable medical device. In a method, the present charge level of the power source is determined by determining the percentage of total charge consumed over a period of time. The present charge level is then divided by the expected power use to determine time remaining before recharging. Another method utilizes a model to determine the faded capacity of the rechargeable power source based on the number of times the rechargeable power source has been charged and the duration of the rechargeable power source's life.

  • Patent number: 8286947
Abstract: A pulley apparatus (10), includes a dram (12) having a central axis mounted between two side plates (14, 16) for receiving a rope (120) passing around the drum. The dram (12) defines a cylindrical surface for receiving a rope or line. The pulley apparatus includes holes (14a, 16a) for hanging or supporting the pulley from a hook karabiner or the like. A rope guide means (30, 32) is defined on the underside of the pulley adjacent the dram and passing over the cylindrical surface of the dram for guiding the line to wrap around the central part of the dram and inhibiting overran of ropes. The guide means comprise two curved blades (30, 32) which extend from the side plates and bow out towards the center of the dram to define a convergent-divergent wasp-waisted passage for the line to pass through. A second single, freely rotatable sheave (40) is mounted to the apparatus between the lower ends of two plates (42, 44) whose upper ends are pivotally mounted to the side plates, and hangs below the guide means in use.

  • Patent number: 8282625
Abstract: An implantable medical device for producing a variable therapeutic output to a patient. A therapeutic output delivery module requires replenishment following delivery of a predetermined amount of the therapeutic output. A calculator is responsive to a measure of an amount of the therapeutic output actually delivered to the patient for determining a parameter representative of a time at which the therapeutic output delivery module of the implantable medical device should be replenished with the therapeutic substance based at least in part upon the amount obtained from the measure. A method determines a parameter representative of a time at which a therapeutic output module of an implantable medical device should be replenished following delivery of a predetermined amount of therapeutic output. An amount of the therapeutic output actually delivered to the patient is measured. The parameter is calculated based at least in part upon the amount obtained in the measuring step.
