  • Patent number: 6007481
Abstract: An instrument is described for the penetration of body tissue with a hollow shaft, the point of which is formed as a conical, beveled, or tapered window. An optic with a lighting unit is brought to the point through the hollow shaft. The optic ends at an axial distance behind the summit of the point. An advancing element having a cutting edge extends along the point. The instrument can be inserted while viewing the structure to be penetrated. In so doing, the structure adjacent the point can be observed over substantially the entire surface area thereof. Preferably, a second optic is run to the summit of the point, which in addition enables improved observation of the area lying directly in front of the point.

  • Patent number: 6001084
Abstract: A medical needle for endoscopic surgery has an external cannula tube in which a protective element is mounted so that it can be shifted axially against a spring. The distal, front protective surface of the protective element in a forward position projects beyond the sharp tip of the cannula tube and in a rear position is behind this tip. The protective surface of the protective element is transparent and can be observed through an optical system installed in the protective element.

  • Patent number: 5788709
Abstract: A flexible bag is introduced into the abdominal cavity to remove larger portions of tissue from the abdominal cavity through a threaded casing introduced into the abdominal wall. The bag features a side opening through which the tissue can be moved into the bag. The end opening of the bag remains extracorporeal to the threaded casing. After pulling out the bag the side opening is located outside of the threaded casing and the tissue is tightly enclosed by the portion of the bag remaining in the abdominal cavity and is accessible for cutting up the tissue form outside, through the threaded casing.

  • Patent number: 5685820
Abstract: An instrument for penetrating body tissue has a rigid hollow shaft having at its distal end a penetrating point, which is at least partly transparent and which is conical, beveled or tapered; a hollow sleeve may surround the shaft. The instrument includes or can be associated with lighting and viewing elements. There may be provided a helical element at the penetrating point, having surfaces converging outwardly to a line. In another embodiment, the point comprises plural, flat, angularly related surfaces converging to a line, the point being at least partly transparent, as by being of opaque material having one or more openings closed by a transparent window. In a further embodiment, the point has a conical distal end and has along its side at least one and preferably two blade members which is/are at or rearwardly of the apex or distal end of the conical tip, and have surfaces converging to a linear edge coaxial with the axis of the point.

  • Patent number: 5652005
Abstract: A method of producing filled sandwich cookies to be fed by an auger into an ice cream stream to produce ice cream with filled cookies comprising baking dough in units of multiple cookie elements, of substantially round shape, applying filling to each cookie element of a portion of the units which have been produced, sandwiching other units onto the filling, and then separating the multiple sandwich cookie units into individual sandwich cookies; the units comprise multiple cookie elements of approximately round shape, and each of which is between one-half inch and seven eighths inch diameter, the units containing two rows with three cookies in each row, with juncture lines between adjacent cookies.

  • Patent number: 5596783
Abstract: A sheet and web cleaner comprises a pair of substantially identical units in facing relation, providing a path for transporting a sheet or web between them. Each unit includes a suction hood with a rectangular inlet slot, and a pair of channels adjacent and parallel to the slot, each containing a pressurized air ionizing bar which discharges ionized air at high velocity onto the moving sheet or web. A plate of hard smooth plastic is over the channels and the inlet slot and has in one side a central elongate inlet opening of tapering width which extends partly through the thickness of the plate and overlies the rectangular inlet slot. Elongate air discharge openings extending partly through the thickness of the plate and overlying each of the channels are adjacent the inlet opening.

  • Patent number: 5590765
Abstract: A hanger support construction for attachment to a garment bag has a pair of clamp jaws pivotally connected adjacent their rear ends, and a latching device for releasably securing the clamp jaws in the closed position, the latching device including a front plate forwardly of the forward ends of the clamp jaws, an actuating lever which is connected by a pivot to one of the clamp jaws, and a retainer which comprises the front plate, a link that engages a surface of one clamp jaw which is remote from the second clamp jaw, a pivot for pivotally connecting the link to the actuating lever, and a connecting structure for connecting the front plate to the link. The connecting structure may include a housing which includes the front plate and plates perpendicular to it which overlie the front end portions of the clamp jaws.

  • Patent number: 5467274
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for debriefing aircraft A/C operations. The method comprises forwarding selected flight data obtained, e.g. from a suitable GPS receiver, collected on the aircraft computer to a monitoring device, encoding from said monitoring device the digital data by an Asynchronous protocol, e.g. RS-232 protocol, onto the cassette of the AVTR and thereafter subjecting the cassette on the ground to a data reduction process, thus obtaining a display file. The GPS receiver is, for example, a commercial code receiver which may be connected to one antenna only. The data received from the GPS receiver are being forwarded to the monitoring device, encoded simultaneously with the other flight data and, by the same method, correcting on the ground in the course of the reduction process the Inertial Navigation System (INS) position drifts. Differential GPS technique may be used on the ground. Several individual display files may be syunchronized into a single display file.
